Dear friends,
I need to decide which logo to use on the new blog. Which one do you prefer?
Thanks,
The Saker
UPDATE: it just ‘hit me’ that we are a community, right? Okay – if you want to submit a logo of your own, please do. I make no promises to use it, but if I like it I will add it to the list of logos submitted for comments in this survey of opinions. Deal?

Logo 4 looks best
3 is the best (but missin text!)
10 is also quite good.
the baby bird (looks like an owl to me) is cute, but … not really.
5, 9 or 10.
Number 4
From the visual point of view – definitely logo # 3. It invokes a piece of mind and I like the vineyard scenery with the sunrise a lot. However, it is missing the message that logo # 4 provides.
Conclusion: logo # 3 with the text from logo # 4 and the result will be perfect.
http://syncreticstudies.com/2014/10/26/the-ukrainian-failed-state-analysis-of-phase-3/ interesting analysis of closed voentorg meme
Perhaps #2 with the addition of “Strength and Honor” to the logo.
Number 3 it’s by far the best.
#12,
Saker, pls keep No. 2.
It IS imo already a trade mark.

Hi Saker,
I like #4 and #10.
Have a great Sunday!
Anonymous Again votes for No 4
I would go for either 8 or 11 (they are actually the same pic) but not 6- the chick is cute but the it does look as though it has huge testicles and maybe not the sort of image that fosters mature intelligent debate.
Well I chose number 2 when only there was two options.
But now numbers 3 and 4 seem to me good also. Perhaps a combination of the three.
Dear Saker:
Thanks for the opportunity to comment.
Sorry I cannot summon any enthusiasm for any of these. Each one is worse than the last, from a design and conceptual point of view.
Logo 1: Dreadful
Logo 2: OK, but too much black. Leave the St. George’s ribbon out of the logo. As a design motif it does not match the naturalism of the bird and looks IMO ridiculous. Put it on the side, as now. Also, you are covering more topics than Russia, so it confines you/the blog.
Logo 3: Nice picture, but too c omplicated for a logo.
Logo 4: Nice of the bird, but black backround looks Darth Vadarish to me. For heaven’s sakes, what is with the black? Falcons depend on sight to hunt. Do they hunt by night? Are they owls? The whole black night motif in these seems to me to be totally counter to what this blog is abouit, which is about truth, sunshine, transparency, the ligth of day. Nu?
Logo 5: nice of the bird, but too black, to mcuh empty black space, yet the words are too small and busy. And the ribbon does not work.
Logo 6: Cute, use it maybe for special annouincements.
Logo 7: Nice of the bird, but the ribbon looks ridiculous. And the back ground is way too busy. This would be good if you drop the ribbon and just put the map in the background in green or something. It doesn’t even look like a map. Looks like clouds. Who is coming up with these busy, comix superhero designs?? Sorry, worked lifelong in publishing. These are too cutesey and IMO show zerio design sensitivity. They would never be acceptable as a book cover, or anywhere on it. Something else to think abouit. When you start publishign, the logo should also work as an imprint logo.
Logo 8: AS a design, the best so far, but get the phrase is wrong. It should say The Vineyard of the Saker. The point is: the world is the vineyard of the saker, right? So make that visual. And include the phrase “A bird’s-eye view of the vineyard.”
Logo 9: Cute, use for special events/messages.
Logo 10: OK. But again, way to much black. I just “got” the orange stripes. No. Looks like underlining “the Vineyard,” prompting the question ‘why is “the Vineyard” underlined?”
Logo 11: Same as 8.
Logo 12: Too much black. Why only half the globe? What is that white thing on the left? Forget the black/night theme.
IMO the current logo is the best. Keep it simple. These are, I am sorry to say , are all gimmicky ideas and look it. Number10 might be usable as a base, but it is also kind of grandiose. Is that the impression you intend to convey? Again, all that black.
The closest to being acceptable, IMO, as a basic concept, is number 7. But it is still gimmicky and is a visual mud puddle. Drop the ribbon. Looks like a decal stuck onto the poor bird’s beak or floating of the surface of the puddle. The bird is a symbol. Don’t be too literal. The world is the vineyard. Make the background graphically clearer as a map, so that there is some contrast between the bird and the map. Currently they are all in shades of gray and white. Doesn’t work. Make the map schematic, instead of a satellite view. Don’t use black, for heaven’s sake. Use green and blue, the accepted and easily recognized colors of earth and ocean. If you can’t do somehting simple and attractive that is a real improvement, just keep the current logo.
As others said, it is your blog, so do what you like. If I were you I would stick with what you started with. It is the best picture of the bird and says the most in the least pretentious fashion.
On second thought, I agree most with Grieved@18:00–do you really need a logo? I think 9 is utter goofball, but I laughed to see it. I love the beauty of 3 and 4, though.
No 4,
Dawn of enlightenment.
Number 4 or 12
Logo 4 looks the best to me.
Logo 4 looks the best to me.
anything but logo 9 and 6 .
Number 4 with a ribbon on the other side.
It shows that we are in fact a planetary community. And the ribbon shows our awareness that without Russia humanity has no chance.
Sincere regards
Number 4 stroke me right away. The bright light awakens me. Isn’t that what we all work for?
Like was said not the St.George ribbon should be placed separately and larger.
Saker: I like either one with “stop the empire`s war on Russia” This statement has to be on it highlighted in my opinion

logo 9 is amazing, i vote for it
Can I please change my choice to logo 3. All of them look to represent hope for a better tomorrow. Thanks and Blessings!
Logo 10 or Logo 4.
Wow, lot’s of very nice work there. Compliments to each and all!
I vote for no. 3.
For me it’s number 4

Logos work mostly on the subliminal level and should be designed to be “upwardly compatable”.
The thing to which compatability is required is purpose.
Generally adding text into logos mutates the logo into a billboard diffusing focus and diffusing subliminal message, and so text is usually better not included in logos.
If the logo is being viewed there is little reason to include communication data, and also lack of communication data emphasises logo/brand recognition.
Logo 2 may give an impression of not straying too much from the nest, whilst giving a notion of security which may defeat the present purpose and undermine future flexibility and “upward compatability.”
Symbolically logo 3 works best and hits the requirements if the purpose is to catalyse lateral change and perspective.
The possible downside symbolically/subliminally is the light emanating from the East, rather than illumination being a function of communal activity – a tendency already exhibited on certain ocassions within the blog.
It may also carry connotations of religiosity, which some may accept and others not.
A more distant option is 2 and the others are not really in the race if the purpose is to catalyse lateral change.
I’ll not give further reasons as such may bring some illumination to the opponents.
I would have strong reasons for using 12, 10, or 4 as the Logo. Reasoning would be related to the future dissemination and acceptance of the site by the marketplace.
Good job, I enjoy and learn from this site and it’s efforts..

I really love No 6. Small beginning but sure to grow!
(and I do like a bit of irony here and there)
Love 3 and 4.
3 with a clear and focused bird, not that blurred one. It should suggest perfect vision.
This is great, more logo’s appear, more people appear and even more change their minds!
All truly wonderful images.
Meanwhile, back at the U.S.A Kiev ranch, voting of a somewhat different order has been taking place…
i’m so looking forward to the next sitrep and praying too that good will prevail in the next stage of Ukrainian developments. How brave those people are!

No 1 looks most professional
My runoff votes go to 10, 12 and 14
My selection is … Number 15!
What, number 15? There is no number 15!
Ah, but there is. It looks like this:
A female falcon with her wings spread out perches on a nest that sits on top of the Earth. She peers down at her clutch of seven eggs.
Each egg has one word written across it. The words are: Truth, Freedom, Fraternity, Law, Commerce, Love and Vigilance.
The caption on the bottom read: “The Saker never sleeps for she watches over her young who will mature to protect others who dwell in man’s vineyard of human temptations.”
Katherine seems to be the expert here. Very well detailed reasons for/against each one.I agree with
..”what this blog is abouit, which is about truth, sunshine, transparency, the ligth of day…”
Many of you like the sunrise-ey ones because they represent that light just creeping in. Katherine seems to think we have a lot more light already, or at last should be aiming for it, and I tend to agree. That narrow slit of light is supposed to look mystical, mysterious, a kind of phoney spiritual.
I’ll repeat the 3 links I put before, showing the widespread use of the template the popular No 4 is based on. We must not use a common template or a copyright image. (No. 5 belongs to a California winery). Fine as samples, can’t be used in real life.

This blog is cold hard facts in cold hard light of day, IMO.
Really I’d like the wording “The vineyard of the saker” on a plain background in a nice font like the old blog, and a very lovely photo of a flying saker no background, just the bird. Different plain colours can then be added as background to “colour code” the national blogs, if they come onto the new format.
IDK, up to you guys.
2 I like best, 4 is nice also. None of the others work for me. Although the baby bird with the hat is a cute picture, just not for this blog. It’s not a hippie bird watching site in the Pacific Northwest.
Fyi, I couldn’t use name/url via my phone browser. Not a cookies issue. Not a big deal but I switched to my usual name for commenting on sites, Colinjames, after originally using my Google log in.
off topic… or NOT
some voting forms from the Ukraine election, click through for English at the right. They told them!! People can end up disappeared these days, for statements like this.

10 and 14 are quite nice. There should be a grammatical distinction between the ‘Vineyard Saker’ which implies a sub-species of bird peculiar to vineyards, and the ‘Vineyard of the Saker’ which suggests a place pertaining to the bird, which may not be restricted to it.
I like n° 14

DOH!
Plenty of apologies!
I’ll fix the typo, no biggie. I’ll have it ready by tomorrow at the latest, but hopefully sooner.

Last one I promise. Ignore my previous post. It’d be done in under an hour.
Once again; apologies.

Hi Saker,
I kind of like logo 3. It sums up for me the sort of ideal dream world I would like to live in, picturesque and peaceful, where everybody is at one with nature, no stress and no fuss, no wars and no fighting.
13 is clean.
2 looks like the internet of the 1990s
3
Logo 4 definitely.
3 by far!
12 or 13
I agree with Grieved 25 October, 2014 17:54. You need no logo except for the photo of the original Saker. When I came the first time to your blog, I saw St. George Ribbon and this beautiful bird and I liked it immediately.
But if I should choose one of the logos, I would prefer no. 3, maybe with a better visible bird.
St. George Ribbon should remain separately, just as it is now.
2, then 4 then 16
eagle eye
Either 14, 15 or 16.

Logo #13.
personally, I love N°9 very much, but as a logo, I think N° 13 is best.

I vote for logo number 13

“13 is clean.

I agree, the image that people see is an important statement, outdated image overlays and fonts are ‘off-code’ as Clotaire Rapaille would say, and thus ineffective. That 13 you are referring to is now in the number 16 slot and slightly modified. From a design and branding perspective I chose the white background, because it is clean and calm and reflects light and transparency. Black backgrounds have the tendency to engender pessimism. Full image banners such as the saker in the vineyard at dusk is nice, but not very expressive of the overall message. The saker in flight conveys purpose, the symmetry and font reflect order and logic. The tagline ‘The Truth is in Flight’ in a way reflects Putins, and hopefully the new Russia’s openness to dialogue in a meaningful way, by being honest and straightforward, in other words, by being truthful with one another.
St.Georges ribbons are also waving as if in celebration….
Cheers
I like logo 4.
Cheers
You original Saker logo is so recognizable, I don’t think you should throw it away.
logo # 4 or 5 I vote for :-)
