This is great stuff! RT reports:
Ukraine ready to impose sanctions against any transit via its territory, including air flights and gas supplies to Europe, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Friday. Ukraine’s Parliament will vote on the sanctions on Tuesday. Kiev has also prepared a list of 172 Russian citizens and 65 legal enitites to put under sanctions for “sponsoring terrorism, supporting the annexation of Crimea, and violating the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Yatsenyuk said at a briefing on Friday. Proposed sanctions include asset freezes, bans on certain enterprises, bans on privatizing state property, refusing to issue licenses, and a complete or partial ban on transit- both aviation and gas.
Let me see if I got this right: the US/EU impose sanctions on Russia because Russia does not stop the Novorussian Resistance. In retaliation, Russia imposes sanctions on the EU and a ban on Ukie overflights over Russia. And in response to that, the Ukies prevent gas which the EU badly needs and which it paid for from reaching the EU. Who will get hurt by that? The EU, of course. So, in fact, these idiots in Kiev, no doubt under US orders again, are now strengthening the Russian sanctions against the EU! We can think of it as “Russia cutting off gas supplies to the EU in a way for which it cannot be blamed”.
Beautiful, no?
The wave pain for the EU is now slowly turning into a tsunami of mutually reinforcing problems.
Well, the sure deserve it. As I said yesterday: you wanna be Uncle Sam’s bitch? Pay the price!
The Saker
Dear Saker,
That was the goal of the United S**t of A** -put a wedge between EU (vassals States) and Russia.
Who is winning this game so far? Zion of course!
I’m pretty sure the US will explain to their puppets in Kiev “more clearly” that their other vassal state, the EU, wants its oil supply to continue! Great post. Terrible situation, but some real irony and black humour in that mess of their own making. They are falling into the pit that they dug against Russia. I pray that Russia will escape it.
I think that this is being done at the behest of the US. They want to frack the Donets Basin. By the time they are done destroying the region, it won’t be good for much else. And when they turn it into a big fracking field, the land and water will be poisoned. But the Biden’s will be happy right? Right now they are just clearing the land, destroying what was so they can put what they want in it’s place.
The noose tightens for the Empire and it’s supine vassals. A short time ago I asked for an analysis on “The Meaning of Modi” as it was clear that India joining with China and Russia would be the ‘coup de grace’ for the Empire. 2+ billion people with the resources of Russia behind it!
Now comes this news courtesy of Amb. Bhadrakumar
http://www.rediff.com/news/column/modi-leads-india-to-the-silk-road/20140807.htm
This of course is just a first step, but an important indicator of whither India?
And God smiles.
Wonderful article! This is why I come to the Vineyard!
I would not get too excited about this.
You are correct that if Kiev puts that in place, then the order comes directly from the empire.
Thus there might be a very specific objective behind this…
If the Ukies really do cut the gas to Europe I see 2 solutions : either Europe manage to force them to end the war or Europe crash down like the Soviet Union once did.
But I bet the Ukies will use the gas as a bargaining chip to get what they want (more support, money …)
Well done, Putin. This is pure Sun Tzu!
Some idiots have been arguing that Russia should use its “gas weapon” and turn off gas from Europe, in retaliation for sanctions or for Western adventures in Ukraine. I think this policy would be extremely stupid. Most likely this speculation – even the word “gas weapon” originates from American cold warriors, people like Ariel Cohen of the Heritage Foundation. US propaganda speaks about “European dependency on Russian energy”. The real aim is isolating Europe from Russia.
Russia must be seen as a reliable partner and a reliable supplier of energy. It should never threaten anyone with a disruption in supply. Now Ukraine used the gas weapon against itself. I have been ROFL all day. Freeze Europe, freeze! LOL!
The amazing stupidity of the Ukrainian junta is beyond belief. Yes, stop the flow of gas from Russia, which the EU needs as a punishment against Russia. Let’s not forget that EU has been trying to find the way to funnel some of that gas back to Ukraine. I know that little bit of information has not been in the media for a while now.
I have written this elsewhere someone ago but Russia should follow the example set by the USA under president Clinton when Haiti had an coup.
Yatsenyuk decision is certainly harebrainded, but I don’t see how any good will come out of the reciprocal Rus/Euro sanctions. My impression is that the US staged the whole crisis in order to severe ties between Western Europe and Russia.
They are exactly achieving that. Trade between Russia& the US is much smaller, and cooperation almost non-existant. Therefore the US isn’t sacrificing much at all here. They are only sowing discord between third-parties so that they never start to pose a challenge to their hegemony.
Presumably it is also being used to hurt Russia, as it will not be paid for gas not delivered.
I guess economic warfare makes tanks across the border much more likely. Interesting times, but at least the poor people of NovoRussiya get peace.
Truly blessed with smart friends and stupid enemies – they deserve a prize.
The wonder of lateral strategies.
Kiev was illegaly sacking Russian gas from many years. Now, when Ukraine is bancrupt, banderist junta is practically imposing sanctions on itself and EU. This is a really smart move. LOL.
Truly blessed with smart friends and stupid enemies – they deserve a prize.
The wonder of lateral strategies.
It seems the brain is mightier than the phallus.
Hard to understand Ukraine’s logic here. If they think that by preventing gas flow from Russia will enrage the EU against Russia for causing all this, I don’t think so…..Russia is delivering the gas to Ukraine….and Ukraine is admitting that it is preventing it from going further….now who is the EU going to blame for this idiocy?
Russia should welcome the ukranian sanctions (secretly), russia should ban transit flights over russia and force all flights with russia as destination to land on the closest airfield possible and only allow russian airplanes to fly inland. This will greatly improve the economic situation for russian business, it will give more security in russian airspace (false flag attacks)and a better overview on the military radar, it will bring more safety because less traffic and less chance of plane accidents destroying russian infrastructure, it will also give less stress on civil airtraffic control and give better and more calm overview on civillian radar, it also improves the health situation as less airplanes pollute russian airspace and improves live expectancy for russians (wich is a major concern for obama). Further russia should use the ukranian sanctions to enable and boost the south stream project, it should ban all trade with ukraine and permanently close the border with ukraine this will destroy ukraine economy and hurt the eu plans to get rich on ukraine it is also revenge for not paying gas bills with imf money and instead financing the genocide in novorussia, russia should keep the border with novorussia open for business and refugees and humanitarian aid for the obvious humanitarian and righteous reasons and accept as much refugees as want to come to russia to apply for russian citizen ship wich will help russia with the problems they have in that area, also welcome are the communist party ideas of banning alcohol soda and tobacco from sanctioning countries wich will hurt them and improve health for russians. In response to nato expansion and military build up as an illegal military organisation (in the light of the dissolution of the sovjet union and warschaupact) and the spread of usa nuclear weapons to many nato countries and the breach of the inf treaty by usa drones etc russia should drop all weapons treaties with usa and immediatly develop nuclear missile systems that can strike nato countries and destroy military buildup nuclear weapons storage and the missile shield russia also should ban usa from entering the black sea and start to sink us warships that violate the ban. Russia also should multiply their existing nuclear missile system to counter the spread of usa nuclear weapons world wide. Russia should also deploy troops along all borders with nato countries to reassure the people of the russian federal states ;-) and russia should create natural obstacles against an armored invasion this will lower unemployment if any in russia because digging and using shovels is does not need high esucation. Reinforcing the borders and limiting passages and creating natural terrain obstacles will greatly help secure russia maybe digg some water channels along borders can improve fresh water and transpory conditions in russia too etc etc etc
Wow. I’d be happy if Russia declared a no – fly zone over Novorossiya to “end civilian deaths and the destruction of life sustaining infrastructure from shelling.” I would put it just that way and not do a whole lot explaining beyond. And if they send anymore warplanes, just shoot them down. Easier said than done eh? What if NATO sent planes and began attacking Russia directly. They might decide to start the big war because they would be right on the border with Russia. This is where they want to be. The bastards are always digging in far from their home turf , all these fools let them set up shop and turn their countries into war zones. They never have to answer for death and destruction that they instigate everywhere but home. They’re unstoppable aren’t they? They are bleeding the American people dry to finance “defense.” I say no – fly zone but what if…it could be a terrible mistake to challenge these people because it’s probably precisely what they want- an excuse to enter into open conflict with Russia.
What will become of Novorossiya? This evil Kiev. Well at least they are having problems of their own over in the west. The Rusyn don’t like them and they are now sending the police into Maidan to do the very thing they demonized Yanukovych for. Hypocrite fascists!

Only in a wet dream. Not gonna happen. Banning transit of Russia’s gas to EU (already paid up) is to forego $7 billion in addition to freezing!!
Zerohedge notes and I agree:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-08-08/ukraine-prepares-impose-russian-gas-transit-ban-commit-economic-suicide
my header –
UKIE Preps to hasten its ECONOMIC SUICIDE
”So in summary, Ukraine will destroy its economy, incurring $7 billion in costs, just to spite Gazprom and force Europe as leverage and to escalate the conflict, because without Russian gas Europe is powerless.
Who wins here? Clearly not the Ukraine people, who are looking at not only soaring inflation as Kiev will have no choice but to inflate away this $7 billion loss through “printing”, not to mention have a cold winter to look forward to. The answer:
Burisma Holdings, where Joe Biden’s son is a director and which will promptly commence shale gas exploration as an “alternative” to Russian gas, over the objections of the local people – after all can’t let a crisis go to waste.
[.]”The only question is whether Europe will merely stand there and wait as 15% of its energy is suddenly cut off (hint: no).
Or Russia for that matter. However, it is here that that other wildcard comes in the play: the South Stream pipeline which bypasses Ukraine entirely, and enters Austria by way of Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary.
• TRANSNEFT: UKRAINE’S POSSIBLE TRANSIT BAN WILL HURT EU, UKRAINE
• TRANSNEFT: RUSSIA HAS ALTERNATIVE ROUTES IF UKRAINE IMPOSES BAN
However there is a big unknown: the Bulgarian government, which has been on the fence whether to support Russia, or Europe’s bureaucrats (if not corporations) who want South Stream halted for now as that would mean their entire “investment” in Ukraine has been for nothing. Although should Ukraine truly proceed with cutting off Russian gas transit, Europe will have no choice but to give its blessing to the South Stream. In the process Ukraine will shoot itself in the foot and commit leverage suicide.
Who guides Yats? Oh never mind.
I am sure Mr. Putin just did a giggle.
“Ukraine is going to search the globe for the property of those who supported the annexation of Crimea,” Yatsenyuk said according to
http://en.itar-tass.com/world/744106
To which Mr. Nora just responded, “Oh, they’re going to seize property in Venezuela?” ;~)
If the Ukrainian Army is really in control of Snezhnoe and charging 5000 griven per car for people from Donetsk to “escape” then we have probably been lied to a lot by the rebelsphere recently. We are possibly not being told things, such as maybe the effect of Polish and other NATO troops, maybe using advanced equipment. Without honesty, why read the rebelsphere?
Also, it was said yesterday that the Azov and Aidar BNs were going to Kiev to join the Maidan against Poroshenko. Fat chance that is happening. Why say it if it wasn’t true.
The military maps drawn by both sides have never been more different. Sounds now like the Ukrainian maps were more accurate, if people really have to pay Ukrainian soldiers 5000 to get to the Lugansk province from Donetsk now.
We don’t need wishful thinking. If Russian and NATO forces are battling it out and the Russians are losing, we need to know it.
Obviously Russia cannot official attack if their unofficial forces (but the real McCoy) are already getting beat by some new technology inside Ukraine. The trend on this blog to say that real Russian soldiers and equipment are not already in Ukraine doesn’t help the discussion because, if they are inside and getting beat, that would be a big explanation for why Russia doesn’t want to make it official.
I really don’t mean to rain on any parade and I’m neutral about this conflict. I just want to know the truth.
As one of the commenters at ZH entitled it: “Ukraine Refuses to Pass Gas” ;-)
On a more serious note, though, it seems like Kiev knows that everything will just be blamed on Russia anyway, so they can force Europe’s hand in this matter.
Here, I wonder: the overarching conundrum of our age is that while the US / EU are rife with corruption and spread chaos near and far, they just keep printing money to buy people off and literally paper over all of these problems. For sure there will be another economic crisis on the scale of 2008, or larger, but the US will likely just paper over that as well, further immiserating the 99%. If the shit really hits the fans, the IMF will back them up. Some people will protest, but the majority are drinking the koolaid. The world is too scary to face, so they just keep taking the blue pill, over and over.
Nobody knows how long these cycles can continue, but perhaps for much longer than we think. Look at how long the misery of the Palestinians has dragged out. Is a resolution to that conflict any closer than it was fifteen years ago?
How about the Ukraine? What if this conflict drags out for years? Kiev has a line on a blank check now, pretty much. Many people on this blog are confident that when General Winter arrives, that will somehow be a game changer. I wonder, though. Let’s say thousands of people freeze to death in the Ukraine this winter. The civil war drags on, etc. Kiev will say that they need more money to buy gas from the EU, and the US / EU will just print up more to support them, and keep their stooges in power. The EU will grovel to the US, even if things get worse for them. If the Ukraine gets through one winter, what’s to keep them from getting through more?
Isn’t this an equally plausible scenario?
Red Cross backs Lavrov’s proposal to deliver relief aid to southeast Ukraine
http://en.itar-tass.com/world/744153
Earlier the Red Cross had defined the conflict as a war, be it civil or otherwise.
This opens a door for support to Novorussia.
But the bet is on:
the Ukraine cuts of gas transfer, but will as per usual steal the gas for its own use.
But mightn’t this be a message to the EU from the US that they had better be harsher on Russia or the gas will stop?
In any case, how can EU countries really resist the banksters, who control the US, UK, and a fair part of the EU system?
thank you yats!
more of this please!
this is BRILLIANT!
if he continues like that in 2-3 months EU military will liberate Kiev from the Junta!
You can bet european MSM will be quick to blame Russia for the lack of gas. I’d also bet on the Ukies not actually “sealing off” the gas pipes, but rather steal the gas the EU bought and paid for themselves, to keep the regime going for a while longer… and the EU worms not daring to complain.
Ummmmm…seems like the world is waking-up…have been sensing real shifts in consciousness lately… including those around me formerly resistant now open to new ways of thinking…and these events are re-shaping THOUGHT about peoples and events. People are less and less able to tolerate lies. As a Christian I find myself unable to attend “church” because it ignores the suffering in Gaza and Ukraine at the hands of evil. As such I have no interest in worshipping with those who give evil a pass. My concept of “church” is “human encouragement”. Through church we encourage (give courage) to others who seek “good”. US Christian Churches ignore and support evil. They are NOT encouraging GOOD. Its the reason they sit more and more empty. They have lost the substance of TRUTH — the substance of The Christ.
It’s time Americans take principled stands against evil. As long as American Christian churches are silent against the worldwide-evil killing innocents in Gaza and Ukraine — as well as throughout the ME — then those churches are simply handmaidens for EVIL. They will implode on their own malfeasance and mendacity.
In terms of Ukraine — the key is German citizens waking-up to the emptiness of US-Zionist hegemony. This is happening. US dollar destruction is occurring faster than WZ’s planned. Kudos to Putin for the tactical sanctions against EU and US farm goods. It will make Russia more self-sufficient — and enable local farms and Russian farming to develop and strengthen. That’s a good thing for Russia. As an American, I want Russia strong and healthy and able to combat evil-NWO-ZOGs. That’s KEY to the survival of humanity.
Some time ago I opined that Putin was “ruthless”. It was in relation to MH17. In reading Xenophon, the point is that leadership requires “ruthlessness” for good. It doesn’t mean killing innocent people. It means punishing enemies or those who are easily led astray by evil. Xenophon — unlike his teacher Socrates — believed virtue without strength is empty and powerless. Lots of Americans admire Putin because he takes a MORAL stand. He’s not playing WZ’s zero-sum game theory. And WZ’s hate him because he doesn’t play their game. He woke-up too. We all need to wake-up.
My constant prayer is that GOOD men (includes women!) mentally arm themselves to resist evil. It’s starts by consciously searching for TRUTH. And avoiding lies and deception which evil foments through chaos and confusion. All these recent events are trying to steal and avert our attention (our consciousness) away from the REAL show.
So what’s up with Yats and the Rada? Did they have the no-confidence vote and then agree to the sale of gas lines and the IMF austerity package? Or are those things still pending?

They will say it’s Putin’s fault of course.
But the best : The Ukies want the EU to pay for these sanctions because they’ll loose their transit fees. So they cut off the gas to the EU and the EU pays for it. Can this get any more insane?
Dear Saker,
considering your analysis of the potential Ukie sanctions on Russian gas transiting to EU countries, I don’t think that your prognosis is right. Right now in the middle of summer gas consumption is at it’s lowest, and storage facilities in the EU are 83% full. Nobody, not even the hopeless cases like Romania and Bulgaria, that still haven’t built gas storage even after the experience of 2006 and 2009 supply disruptions thanks to Ukie brinkmanship then, will be hurt by that right now. INstead it will motivate all countries to prepare properly for the winter.
What would really hurt the EU is if gas supplies were cut in the middle of freezing winter and unexpectedly so. Now we have plenty of time to prepare, and EU countries will probably even pay a fat transit fee to Ukraine to help in the war effort and simultaneously blame the cost on Russia (hmmm.. who started the sanctions?… oh yeah that’s right cause and effect are irrelevant in the politically correct union of puppets).
Also the sanctions on foodstuffs are not as effective at least not against EU countries as I had expected. Russia very shrewdly targeted Poland, as M.K. Badrukhumar expressed it “thrashing the sidekick” the US’s most loyal and irritating ally in continental Europe. Now guess what, at an extraordinary meeting of EU agriculture ministers, the EU is going to decide to reimburse farmers for their losses due to Russia’s sanctions. This basically means that German and Austrian and Dutch taxpayers euros are used to compensate polish farmers for their losses. Rewarding the polish government for their belligerence and stupidity and letting the ones pay that wanted a more balanced approach to Russia (ok not the Netherlands). Without such compensation the impact would have been very strong since Poland has a lot of agriculture with a lot of jobs in it, and a lot of its agricultural exports went to Russia. Also exports from Italy, Spain and Portugal were hard hit, not because those countries were particularly hostile, but their economies are in a bad situation anyway. Interestingly olive oil and wine were not included in the sanctions. Is this a small nod to Greece and some of the southern countries?
Seriously I fear that the sanctions spiral would need to escalate a lot more for Europeans to feel the pain and to start complaining. In the short run, the developments on Maidan, the new protests may have a bigger impact. People in Europe will rightly ask themselves why we are supporting the coup government if even the Ukrainians themselves don’t want it. Today the financial times had a picture of the new maidan protests on its front page. If this continues, the western propaganda lies about democracy loving protesters will dissolve automatically.
Best
D.
And by making problems for South Stream, EU is imposing even more sanctions against itself. Of course, guided by US political idiots. Remember Bible parable about blind man leading the blind man…
The US needs a very sizable distraction to cover for an impending financial meltdown. Russia has been picked as a suitably major opponent, but so far is not cooperating, so the US will prod harder. No matter how it unfolds, somehow Russia will be the cause of it all…
John
But this was the goal all along, to cut Europe from Russia’s oil.
Did anyone really think that the US supported a fascist coup to spread democracy? Did anyone think that by exacerbating ethnic divisions in Ukraine that it would bring peace to Ukraine and the region?
Let me repeat. Since at least WWII America’s foreign policy has been “Where’s the oil, and who do we have to kill to get it?” Shutting Europe off from Russian gas makes the EU more dependent on Western energy sources, thus strengthening the West’s hand, the House of Saud’s hand, and weakening Russia’s.
There will be a few problems along the way, like winters, but hey, with global warming….
Liashko has had a version of that in his program for months:
http://maidantranslations.com/2014/03/18/oleh-liashko-our-answer-to-the-agressor/
“6. Establish the price for the transit of Russian gas to Europe – $500 per m3 and not $10 as currently. If Russia should refuse to pay, close the valves”
Of course it isn’t really a matter of whether Russia would refuse or aggree to pay, it’s whether the end customers would accept the $490 price hike. (I assume it’s a typo when he’s talking about m3 and what he really means is per 1000 m3)
…just MARVELOUS…!
RE: boycotts…can you list Israeli product and companies to boycott or provide a link to such a list? thanks. fight the good fight always.
Re boycotts.. If you have smart phone, you can download buycott. It allows you to join on to many lists, whatever kind off boycott you want, and then scan a product barcode with the camera to see if it’s objections or not. The better lists will even have the hierarchy info in case the parent company is tied to something the actual company is not. I just got it amd really like it. But off the top of my head, I know downstream is an Israeli company and I just scanned the fabreeze on my counter to find that PG has Israeli research facility…. No more fabreeze for me :(
Dear Saker,
Sure got that one right. Along with your previous post, great analysis. Talk about unintended consequences, blowback, general idiocy, and diplomatic prostitution (excuses to the real profession)!

LaRouche on Russian TV: “British Empire” Determined to have a war with Russia, China and India
May 25 (LPAC)–The impact of Lyndon LaRouche’s visit to Moscow last week is still being felt, with repeat broadcasts of LaRouche’s interview in Moscow May 16, to the economist Mikhail Khazin, host of the “A+ in Economics” weekly program on the Spas Channel, a satellite TV station linked with the Russian Orthodox Church. The interview first aired on Friday, May 18, and was repeated several times.
With “showdowns” looming between the Anglo-American-Euro bloc at the United Nations and Russia and China over Iran, and possibly over Kosovo, LaRouche identified the real war danger as coming from the British Empire–as he has described it–targeting Russia, China and India. LaRouche said:
april 2007 —
“starroute said…
” I also noticed that reference in the French documents to Chechen rebels — and what it immediately reminded me of was not Feith’s and Perle’s adventures, but Peter Dale Scott’s “The Global Drug Meta-Group.”
I’ve never felt I’ve fully understood Scott’s article, bit as a result I get something new out of it every time I look at it. In this case, what jumped out at me was these paragraphs:
(The goal of splitting up Russia attributed here to Surikov is that which, in an earlier text co-authored by Surikov, is attributed by Russian “radicals” to the United States:
The radicals believe that the US actively utilizes Turkish and Muslim elements….From Azerbaijan, radicals foresee a strategic penetration which would irrevocably split the Federation. US influence would be distributed to the former Soviet Central Asian Republics, to Chechnya and the other North Caucasus Muslim autonomous republics of T[at]arstan and Bashkortostan. As a result Russian territorial integrity would be irreparably compromised.) . . .
In my conclusion I shall return to the possibility that U.S. government might share common goals with Hizb ut-Tahrir and the meta-group in Russia, even while combating the Islamist terrorism of al-Qaeda in the Middle East and the West.
Most major media outlets have spelled out with a profusion of details the “exact” events that led to the death of what some claim to have been hundreds of people in the eastern Uzbekistan town of Andijan on May 13. Led by British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, the world media condemned much-maligned Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov for yet another bloody and ruthless suppression of “public dissent”. Yet, all the details so far provided do not explain who the real players were or their end objectives.
The US is winning if EU do not turn to Russia. US wants no unity for EU and Russia.

President putin is wrong when he says that russia should or will target the missile on europe if america goes with anti missile defence plan in Europe.
Russia must target england because this cold war -like the one before- is being started by england for the benefit of english race only-.it is race war between the english parasite race versus the rest of the world-the sooner the rest of the world realizes that better it is for the world.
look how Germany wes vilified soon after fall of soviet union-look how russia is being vilified immediately after Putin made russia strong.
in fact it was not America but england which asked for ABM againstt Russia. BBc spy journalists were harassing presidential candidate Gore not to go ahead with Florida recount on ground” ally like britian want to conclude AMB deployment in Yorkshire as soon as possible so there should be no delay in govt. formation.in other word accept fraudulent win of bush for sake of england ! “
-such is the evil propaganda of British spies inside america. .
poland is nothing but a proxy for the british bastards.
itis no use targeting Poland -target the main villain which is england and the english nation which m ust be stopped now.
I just read a comment on the Guardian website saying the Right Sector is calling for a protest at Maidain tomorrow morning, does anyone have any info on it such as what specifically they are protesting assuming they are?
OT but 6 years ago today Russia laid the smack down on the NWO plot in Georgia. Here’s to hoping the next victory will be 10 x as great.
I just read in the Guardian comments that RIght Sector is calling for a Maidian protest tomorrow morning, does anyone have any info on it such as what they are protesting assuming they are??

In an op-ed published in the weekly Nedeljnik, he wrote that Serbia’s commitment to peace and dialogue had opened the door to the European Union and allowed the start of accession talks.
“Of course we will, because the EU is our priority not only politically, but also essentially over the years that are ahead of us, every day be closer to what is called the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU,” said Dačić.
He said that Serbia “supports the territorial integrity of any state, and Ukraine, therefore, with Crimea”.
“There is not and will not be any dispute in Serbia over that stance. As there is no dispute about our European road. But in all this we are very aware that about the most important issues – we do not decide. For that reason we have no dilemma, for example, about South Stream. It will happen if Russia and the EU so decide and agree, and not if Serbia rejects or accepts it. After all, Serbia is the only non-EU member, besides Russia itself, on the South Stream (pipeline’s) route.”
“The only thing that Serbia asks today is that the fact that it is not, and probably never will be in a position to sanction anyone be respected. But we insist on dialogue and compromise solutions to all crises in the world, and will continue to do that as the country presiding over the OSCE next year,” he said.
I think this is very much what the US want, fragmented and destabilised EU gives more time for the US to recover, they don’t want a strong EU or a strong Germany, too much competition. Always with Obama and the US in general one must stop listening to what they say and watch what they do, usually two totally different things. EU/Russo relationships have been good, one might say even very good with Germany and France in particular, the US doesn’t like this. The empire of chaos strikes again! Merkel needs to strap her balls on and get out of this via diplomacy not whining in the courts, they backed the wrong horse this time.
@Saker,
Rather odd predicament the EU finds itself, eh? It woild seem as if the push for “free trade” betwen the US/Canada knows no boundries. While they push further into their agenda, resistance begets more resistance.
The most troubling aspect is that they are years away from actually delivering any energy, ie oil from North America and as long as the proxy terrorists known as IS continue to prevent more oil/gas from moving from the ME to the EU,it exponentially gets worse.
While some “commenters” on the various MSM article seem to discount these facts by stating the EU can simply refire the coal plants, they also claim that Ukraine is awash with coal. The problem wit that argument is that it does not factor in the f act that the Ukie forces have all but decimated the mines and facilities in the east. This means even if they could circumvent the environmental restrictions, there still is a lack of coal there. There is one caveat, that being Petcoke which is a waste byproduct from Albertas tar sands as it is already being used here to circumvent the anti-coal regulations/lobby as it is not regulated and fairly inexpensive to retrofit existing coal fired plants.
On the other hand, if anyone may recall, the Right Sector is also anti-EU and has previously stated they will disrupt any/all deliveries through the pipelines that deliver Russian oil/gas if necessary. Their motto “Ukraine for Ukrainians” and their threats against the Kiev Regime should not be taken lightly and may be playing a factor in the “decision” by Yats. He may have the backing of globalists but surely is watching his back, so to speak.
Really not sure how this internal battle of Ukraines oligarchs will play out, but ge globalists could care less since the winner takes all strategy seems to be in hyperdrive.
Whomever decided to put “boots on the ground” in Ukraine to support either side will inevitably face off vs the real terrorists of the Right Sector, etc. As the mission creep becomes a quagmire, the EU will eventually come unglued and set ablaze long before any alternative sources of oil/gas can be actually delivered. The facotries will be shut, the farms will become barren and the collective citizenry will be forced to make some rough choices on how to deal with their own Police States.
On top of all of that, sooner or later China will enter the fray to stop all of these transgressions as they see fit. Then all bets are off and the neocons wet dream of WW(x) will come to fruition. Either way the Anglo-Empire is doomed, how many of us are they willing to sacrifice as they fall is another story all together in their winner takes all NWO scheme.
The neocons favourite universal phrase “your either with us or against us” is ringing loud and clear. But other than globalist bagmen, oilmen, banksters and speculators, who is really with them. That is the question…
Also, I’m not really understanding the decisions in the past few days to supposedly let more than 2,000 soldiers escape the cauldron and go back into the war. Does anyone have an example in the history of the world when this was done? This is all too strange.
And nobody is analyzing it properly
It looks as if it might be oil as well. Most commentators ignore oil but some say it is probably more important to Europe than gas.
MOSCOW, August 8 (RIA Novosti) – Russia has alternative routes to deliver oil to Europe if Ukraine decides to stop transit via its territory, but Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic will sustain losses, a spokesman for Russia’s oil transit monopoly Transneft said Friday.
Russia delivers about 14 million tons of oil to European consumers via the Druzhba pipeline laid through Ukraine.
“We can easily divert these supplies to Druzhba’s northern leg in Belarus,” Transneft spokesman Igor Dyomin said. “Ukraine’s sanctions will be directed against Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic.”
Earlier in the day, Kiev government announced it prepared a list of 172 individuals and 65 legal entities from Russia and other states who are subject to 26 various types of sanctions. Ukraine may halt transit of Russian hydrocarbons via its territory as part of the package of sanctions. The list was handed over to Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council for consideration.

And what happened at Velikaya Vergunka in Lugansk’s northern suburbs? Apparently Russia let the Aidar BN get lots of practice all summer and then a Russian special forces team of 30, with no recent practice, gets wiped out by Aidar on August 5.
Wasn’t the “Don’t let them get too much practice” factor taken into account?

He also added that the Czech Republic if necessary is able to supply with gas and neighbouring Slovakia, reports RIA “Novosti”.
“In the case of oil, the situation is more complicated,” said Mladic.
According to him, the Russian oil could, for example, be transported by tankers from Novorossiysk to the Italian port Terst, and then by pipeline to the Czech Republic.
“But, of course, the best option – if properly operated an oil pipeline “Friendship”, – the Minister added…”
Both Slovakia and Cz I believe earlier refused extra NATO deployments on their territory.

The West on the wrong path
In view of the events in Ukraine, the government and many media have switched from level-headed to agitated. The spectrum of opinions has been narrowed to the width of a sniper scope. The politics of escalation does not have a realistic goal – and harms German interests.

I understand the shadenfreude but bear this in mind _ the fools in the in EU and US were EXPECTING, Russia to cut off energy supplies, not agricultural products .You’ll notice how deranged their statements sounded yesterday (especially the sour grapes coming from Britain -priceless) Consequently the Russian embargo was more brilliant than even you supposed yesterday, because the Russians hurt Europe without hurting themselves by shutting down sales of gas. This measure (certainly ordered by the US as you say) is meant to be a “corrective” to that. This certainly SEEMS, like a game Russia can afford to play longer than Europe. As for the US who knows, what they consider acceptable anymore. The US is become a fascist state (the regime of finance capital is fascism. I saw a definition of that somewhere I try to find it again)

A slight change of subject: There have been reports on the blogosphere that the U.S Guided Missile Cruiser Vella Gulf has sailed into the Black Sea again, likely with some smaller NATO or U.S. escorts. By the Montreaux Convention it can stay 21 days, as I recall, but the U.S. would no doubt ignore the Convention if it wished. The Vella Gulf carries 122 vertical launch tubes, which can be used for a wide variety of missiles, including 1550-mile subsonic Tomahawk cruise missiles, plus supersonic anti-air/anti-ship Standard missiles of one kind or another. There were unconfirmed reports last spring that the U.S. threatened a massive Tomahawk strike from the ship, implicitly nuclear, if Russia invaded the Ukraine, after which Russia withdrew its 50,00 or so troops well away from the border.
If the Vella Gulf is there again on a similar mission, threatening Russia explicitly or implicitly with a massive Tomahawk strike, this might be a good time for an unscheduled exercise of the entire Black Sea Fleet, all nearby air-defense forces (S-300, S-400, Buks, etc.), every air asset that could be employed against the Vella Gulf (T-22’s, SU-34’s, etc.), with the RVSN on high alert. The exercise should take place at the other side of the Black Sea (if the Vella Gulf were in the west, then in the east, or vice versa), so as not to be mistaken for the real thing. The exercise should have an announced scenario of “destruction of an enemy formation launching a cruise-missile attack from the Black Sea”, and be as realistic as possible without revealing operational secrets (e.g., advanced ECM). The purpose would be to show the U.S what awaits the Vella Gulf if it did attack, put the shoe on the other foot, with the RSVN behind ready for action if the Tomahawks were nuclear.
At least we know what Rasmussen told the Junta yesterday. Kiev wouldn’t dare to stop the transit without the order of Nato/USA.
By the way, have you noticed the eyes of Rasmussen? This wannabe general has a mission – and many visions! ;-)
I thought Yats had resigned?
And this clearly shows the that Empire is targeting BOTH Russia and Europe.
Russiaas so far failed to do as expected…pull a Georgia 2008 or cut off gas. So the Empire will have to move things along.
As in previous wars the Empire is trying to get its competitors to destroy eachother for its benefit.
But this is awefuly trtransparent
Turkey and NATO
Germany and EU
South Korea and U.S.
All up for grabs as the global reality shifts toward Eurasia—Russia+China.
As always, trade, commerce, banking are the lead forces of change. Military and covert action are the reactionary countermoves.
The greed and hegemony of Elite Liberalism that has failed and set fire to the globe is ironically facing a different Capitalism.
China’s and Russia’s and the BRICS’ capitalism is quite different, more state managed, attempting social goals rather than merely Elite goals.
Corruption, of course, and criminality are the predatory co-ventureres with Capitalism.
But, they are eternal threats to any system of economics. They come with any human economic activity.
Eurasia has a long road to traverse. But it is anchored by two great historic cultures. Russia and China have an opportunity to put a human face and mind on the world’s development. Presently, all we see are the West’s Elite face of Satan.
For examples: see Novorossiya, Gaza, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Nigeria and MH-17. All works of the demon.
Various Anonymouses who just don’t seem to get it,
First off, God willing, Russia will never follow ANY example set by any Clinton! Secondly, yes, it was certainly a brilliant American idea to split Europe from Russia. Too bad Europe will suffer so horribly, eh. Except, of course, if they choose to split from us instead, Which. Would. Be. The. Sensible. Thing. To. Do. Especially since their business and farming sectors now want it, and loathe us as well as their spineless, whinging “leaders”.

Don’t worry, dear, you’re not really raining on this parade, any more than the Ukrainian army is charging 5000 hrivna. Saw right through that — this is the second time you’ve claimed to be neutral, no? — and didn’t even need an umbrella. Bye now.
D,
Where is the money going to come from to pay those Polish farmers, etc.? More austerity? It may take a while, but the EU is far more likely to fragment than unite behind this.
Is it true that 10,000 have been killed in Doneck and Lugansk Republics.
If so they blood falls on Put’s hands.
Another human tragedy. It can end only with WW3. Pray for it. There’s no other way to stop those criminals who don’t give a dumm for human life.

2. Moscow calls for immediate ceasefire in Ukraine, http://rt.com/news/line/2014-08-08/#68040
“Moscow called for an immediate stop to the fighting in Ukraine and for the effective resolution of humanitarian problems, the Russian Representative to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, said at a meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday. According to him, any attempt to resolve the crisis forcefully in Ukraine will be fatal. He questioned Kiev’s right to methodically bomb neighborhoods in eastern Ukraine and accuse Russia of arming the militias. Churkin urged to solve eastern Ukraine’s humanitarian crisis, and not to question Crimea’s status, adding that it is now Russia’s territory. More than ten thousand people have been killed in Kiev’s punitive operation in southeastern Ukraine since April, said the Ukrainian parliamentary group ‘For peace and stability’ on Friday, citing volunteer groups working in the east of the country.”

http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2014/08/ebola-loose-ends-patients-employer-plane-serum-company-funding-sudden-entry-world-bank-oddly-silent-administration.html
The comments are quite good there also, but perhaps the biggest mind-blower of all is the fact that we patented one particular Ebola virus: http://www.google.com/patents/CA2741523A1?cl=en
The CDC patents viruses and then licenses out the rights to work on them. The Ebola outbreak is pretty shady, and the whole system of disease and CDC and Big Pharma is super shady, but the patent in and of itself is s.o.p.- nothing to get worked up about.
Monsanto buying shares in Tekmira and the whole sequence of events surrounding that- with the FDA having recently denied their vaccine testing application- and African nations putting a halt to the activities of Tulane researchers, who were there working on Ebola “defense” with USAMRIID, and bringing infected patients back to the US, that’s worrying and scandalous and needs to be looked into.

Dutch Media via Itar-Tass: Netherlands takes hit from Russia import ban
http://en.itar-tass.com/world/744165
Dutch leading financial newspaper Financieele Dagblad said nearly 300 trucks carrying vegetables and fruit from the Netherlands had already been refused entry at the Russian border.
“State broadcaster NOS reported a fall in prices at a vegetable wholesale market in the town of Zaltbommel. A trader told NOS television he had bought spinach for 30 euro cents a kilo.
“On Wednesday, the price was 1.10 euros per kilogram,” he was quoted as saying. “No grower can live with that.”
The drop in prices affects not only the produce exported to Russia, NOS said. Other produce, such as cauliflowers, is also suffering.
“There is produce we do not export to Russia but other European countries do,” another buyer told NOS television. “If they cannot sell to Russia, there is saturation of the whole European market and prices fall everywhere.”

It’s amusing to keep reading over and over words like “decide” and “decision” applied to the actions of entities like Kiev, Petroshenko, Yatsenyuk…
How obvious should it be that decision making, especially on important policy matters, is not an attribute of these entities?
Not even these comical threats can be thought of as originating in the Kiev government, let alone their execution.
Well, today we woke up to go to work with news on calculations of the losses caused to the economy by Russian sanctions.
Here in the Basque Autonomous Community, have said on local radio that the impact will be minimal because the exchange of only 0.3% in terms of fresh produce is not maintained. However, in the Navarre community, 13 companies will be affected.
They have also spoken of an impact at EU level about 2000 million euro.
All European stock markets closed in the red and Mario Draghi, president of the ECB, stated that geopolitical tensions produce a catastrophic impact on the EU economy.
In another vein, the Spanish brigade in the Donbas have appeared on several television news and newspapers. I hope that this, coupled with the impact of sanctions, call the attention of citizenship on the conflict, encourage people to learn more and help display the Resistance of the Donbass from another point of view, the real.

What ‘Russian special forces team’ got wiped out?
It is unknown how many Ukes got out of the cauldron and how many ran to Russia. What is known is over 60% of the Ukes who ran across the border have applied for asylum so, taking the current estimate of almost 1000 who hoped the border that means 400 will be repatriated to Ukraine. This is within international law. Russia can not intern them by force as officially the struggle in Novorossiya officially ain’t a war.
Various sources have different versions of the exit of the remaining Ukes in the cauldron, some say it was a bargain made to get the equipment and let the grunts go, others say they made a break and some managed to get out. From the number of buses provided and seen in several photos I’d say it was a bargain. Latest estimates I’ve seen are roughly 700 made it out that way. Run the numbers and you’ve got 4000 Uke corpses in the cauldron and some prisoners.
It is a given you will not win all your fire fights or battles in a war, the object is to win the war.
Чуркин: Доклад ООН по Украине – политический заказ (Churkin: UN Report on Ukraine – political order)
http://lifenews.ru/news/138114 (trans) http://translate.yandex.net/tr-url/ru-en.ru/lifenews.ru/news/138114
“The opinion of the Commissioner for human rights is of interest only as a sample of the fine arts and literature, said the representative of Russia.
Facts and conclusions presented in the report of the UN human rights in Ukraine, carefully rigged under a political order. Human rights activists urge the parties to the conflict in the East of the country to the cessation of hostilities, when the right to life is the most important right of any person. With this began the speech at the meeting of the UN security Council eighth of August Vitaly Churkin.
– In the report there was no condemnation of application of Ukrainian law enforcers in the settlements artillery, Grad, aviation, as well as prohibited by international conventions projectiles, – said the representative of our country. – This says nothing about the President Petro Poroshenko flowery oath to ensure the safety of the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk.
The report briefly mention that the Ukrainian government promised to abandon the bombing of settlements, and later broke their word. No qualifications treacherously breaking promises. Meanwhile, the armed conflict is becoming more and more hardened and daily continues to kill people.
Thousands of children, including orphans and disabled people remain in a combat zone. They, like other refugees, are not provided humanitarian corridors. The authors of the report present the actions of militia, which help to take their children in Russia, as a kidnapping.
– In one of the paragraphs of the report of seriously ill children in Russia could be qualified medical aid. With pleasure noted that by the intervention of the Kiev authorities had children in Ukraine, ” said Vitaly Churkin.
The eighth of August, the UN security Council has held a sitting on the issue of human rights in Ukraine. Past emergency meeting of the sixth of August convened Russia. It Vitaly Churkin urged to discuss humanitarian catastrophe “without politicking” and necessary to provide urgent assistance to the population in the conflict zone. Churkin said that Russia is ready to send to Donetsk and Lugansk convoys with humanitarian aid under the aegis of the red cross.”
The UN needs to be replaced with a non-ZPC/NWO effective version of the body.
