Before the end of his term the President Barak Obama is determined to undo what many see as the greatest injustice of our time. He wants to bring Israel back to its 1967 borders according to the UN resolution and to make Jerusalem a capital of two countries, Palestine and Israel. As the Israeli media puts it: “Obama to use UN to divide Jerusalem.”
Michael Bulgakov, an author of “Master and Margareta” once said that “an insult is an average pay for good work.” I won’t repeat here how they call Obama, but America is now being called “a harlot” by the ultra-Orthodox followers of rabbi Dov Bar-Leib. And in Bar-Leib’s own words, “America is no longer a nation under the G-d of Israel.”
On Tuesday March 15th, 2016 the President of Israel Rivlin arrived to Moscow for a visit to “discuss the challenges facing the region in the wake of the withdrawal of Russian forces.”
Here you can see a cortege of Israeli President Rivlin in Moscow
The neo-liberals in Russia, many of whom have a second Israeli passport, were happy to greet their President’s visit in social media. Russia’s official media also saw this visit as a sign of positive development in relations between the two countries.
Russia: Putin and Israeli President Rivlin tout bilateral ties
Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in Moscow, Wednesday, that the relationship between the two countries was of a “very unusual character.”
“SOT, Russian President Vladimir Putin (Russian): “The relationships between our countries have a long story and are based on friendship and mutual understanding.”
“SOT, Russian President Vladimir Putin (Russian): “Special relationships are formed also due to the fact that almost 1.5 million citizens of Israel are immigrants from the former Soviet Union.”
“SOT, Russian President Vladimir Putin (Russian): “[These are] people who maintain relationships with their relatives in Russia, with friends. This gives a very unusual character to our inter-state relations, of course.”
“SOT, President of Israel Reuven Rivlin (Hebrew): “We cooperate in many directions, in culture, commerce and on the issue of the Holocaust.”
“SOT, President of Israel Reuven Rivlin (Hebrew): “The people of Israel, and I am saying this as a Jew, will never forget Russia’s contribution to the victory over Nazism.”
However... There is a persistent rumor that a head of the former Lviv’s commissars Rivlin has actually delivered… an ultimatum to the President of Russia.
I have stumbled upon several different sources mentioning this “ultimatum,” but to make my life easier I use here just one, it’s a Russian blogger named Cat, or Cat Motja, as his friends call him. I made a mistake yesterday by comparing him to Solomon in his eternal wisdom, and he got mad at me, since he doesn’t consider characters from the Old Testament being worthy any publicity.
Back to our sheep, or rumors. You have watched the video above. Imagine that in this room in the Kremlin there just happened to be a cleaning lady of sorts, dusting. It’s not obvious if she had a perfect command of Hebrew or not, but she just happened to overhear something to the extent that if the UN would go ahead with enforcing its resolution, Israel will go ahead and destroy the holy sites of Christianity. Or, the way Cat puts it, “Israel will vaporize the holy stones into holy dust.”
People lived with Palmira for thousands of years. In 2015 a private international army that has been selling stolen Syrian oil to Israel in exchange for weapons and medical support, turned Palmira into dust without batting an eye. It’s was done to show to all of us that it can be done.
How would Christians react to this blackmail, if indeed it’s real?
Cat looked in the New Testament and he didn’t find anywhere that would say “guard and protect those holy stones with your life.” Actually it explicitly states that Christianity is not that sort of religion.
Will it make us less Christians, if instead of holy stones, we will have holy dust? The answer is “no.”
There is also a question of “price.” If we, Christians, give in to one ultimatum, will there be others? How much would our independence and integrity “cost” us. Say, we agree with the terms of this ultimatum and keep the status quo. Who can guarantee that in 2017 Israel won’t demand something else? Have those holy stones turned into a sword that Israel holds over our necks?
It looks like the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia think the same way, because they just issued a statement:
MFA Russia @mfa_russia: “Israel settlement projects in the Palestinian territories are illegal & the decisions on them should be reviewed”
Moscow Calls New Expropriation of Land by Israel in Palestine ‘Illegal‘
The “holy stones” of Palmyra and many other places across Syria are the heritage of the entire Humanity, not just for Christianity. If Israel is committed to respectful and friendly relation with Russia -which is a Christian country – and doing against it,shall expose herself as an enemy of cultural values not just in her relation with Russia but with the whole world.
That ancient hatred for Christianity, Christians and for Christ plagues them for thousands of years. Sure, they hate Muslims, but Christians so much more. Nothing brings more fury and hatred from them than the sight of the cross, an image of Jesus Christ. Absolutely nothing. I would not be surprised they would destroy destroy the Christian holy sites. It will not be the first time.

Desecration in Peace: 1949-1967
• On Mt. Zion in Jerusalem Israeli forces first seized then looted various churches and
convents. Gold and silver religious objects were taken and the churches and convents turned into military posts.
The soldiers desecrated and vandalized the Armenian and Greek Orthodox cemeteries.
• Churches were destroyed in Damound & Somata.
• Christmas Day 1952 the Israeli army blew up the village of Ikret, whose population was 100% Catholic. Its beautiful church was destroyed and the the population were scattered to other parts of Galilee.
• October 1953 the Israeli army destroyed the Christian village of Kafr Bur’om in Galilee. Its churches and schools were demolished and the population scattered to various parts of Galilee.
• 16 April 1954 Zionist attack the cemetery of the Greek Catholic Community in Haifa. 73 crosses and 50 statues of angles were smashed.
• July 1954 Israeli fundamentalists attack a Christian religious procession of the Carmelite Fathers and the Christian community of Haifa on Mt. Carmel near Haifa. The procession was dispersed, many crosses were destroyed and many Christians were injured.
• 12 July 1954, a Protestant Minister in Tiberias went to a house where some families of Christian and Jews had gathered. A rabbi provoked Jews to riot by spreading the rumor that many Jews were to be baptized in that house. Hundreds of Jews gathered and attacked the house. The police were rushed to disperse the mob, and it was only the presence of the police which saved the Protestant Minister from being lynched.
• July 1961 a Christian missionary group in Jerusalem was forced to cancel it services when attacked by stone-throwing Jewish religious fanatics. They chanted “Eichmann! Eichmann!” and began tossing rocks.
• 10 January 1963 the Finnish Christian Mission School in Jerusalem is attacked by seventy Jews. Mostly Yeshiva students.
They smashed windows and beat Mr. Risto Santala, the school pastor. Further along the street the plate glass windows of the Zion Mission shop run by Reverend William Hall were smashed. All of this was the result of an editorial in the Jewish newspaper Yediot Aharonot of 23 Dec. 1962 which accused the Christian Mission of converting Jews to Christianity, and calling on Jews to demonstrate outside the Finnish School.
Attacks on Christianity– 1967 & After The War:
• Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem shelled by Israeli forces
• Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem- Israeli soldiers and youths throw stink bombs into the church Israelis inappropriately dressed entered the church;they smoked cigarettes; they littered the church; they brought dogs with them.

• Israeli forces shot up the Episcopal Cathedral just as they had done in 1948.
• IDF smashed the Episcopal school for boys with their tanks.
• IDF wrecked and looted the YMCA
• IDF wrecked the Lutheran Hospital, even though it was being used by the UN.
• The Lutheran center for cripples was also heavily damaged by the Israelis.
• In Ramallah the Episcopal school for girls was fired upon by Israeli forces and some of the girls were killed.
• The Reverend S.J. Mattar, warden of the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem, was murdered in his home by Israeli soldiers according to witnesses who were also fired upon.
AFTER the War: 1967–
1972 Arson destroys the bookstore of the Baptist Church in Jerusalem. The church suffers several attacks per year- usually window breaking. The bookstore also is a favorite target for vandalism. The chapel had recently been vandalized by a member of the ultra-right Kach movement.
1974 Two American Jewish girls attempt to set fire to the Baptist Church bookstore.
1975 A grenade damages the Baptist Church. Slogans were painted on the Church’s property- a common practice in these attacks.
1978 Law against missionaries.
8 Oct. 1982 “Unknown persons” set fire to the Baptist Church in Jerusalem destroying it. The adjacent church library suffered damage also.
23 Dec. 1982 “Unknown persons” drew swastikas on the entrances of two churches in Jerusalem. They also tried to set the two churches on fire. In addition to the swastikas the word “OUT” was painted on the entrance of the Notre Dame Church- the second such desecration.
Dec. 1982 Meir Kahane’s Kach group burned to the ground a Baptist church in Jerusalem.
23 May 1983 “Unknown persons” attacked a convent run by German nuns in Jerusalem. Al-Fajr, a Jerusalem weekly, reported that this was just the latest incident in a series of many anti-Christian incidents in Jerusalem.
June 1983 The Mother Superior and another nun of the Russian Orthodox Church were stabbed to death by an American Jew. In mid-month men entered the church and threatened the nuns. At another Russian Orthodox church, directly across the street from Jerusalem’s main police center, swastikas were painted on the main entrance.
Nov. 1983 Father Fawzi Khoury of the Fassouta Roman Catholic Church was held for weeks without charge.
25 Dec. 1983 A fire was started in the Hotel Nitzan in Tiberias on Christmas Jews claimed that the hotel is a center for missionary activity and Jews claimed that the hotel is a center for missionary activity and that various Christian sects are offering clothes, jewelry and sneakers to
Jews who would attend missionary lectures.
The Jerusalem Post noted the incident as one of many such actions harassing the group
Meetings interrupted and photos of the participants taken and sometimes published later in anti-missionary tracts; windows smashed; stones tossed into meetings; homes of members broken into and converts are often harassed.
The owners closed the hotel and asked the group to leave. The anti-missionary group Yad Le’ Achim and a local yeshiva, Kolel Yad Rambam, seemed to be the instigators of the attacks.
Dec 1983 Explosives placed outside several Christian and Muslim religious institutions in Jerusalem injured a number of people.
5 Jan. 1984 “Unknown persons” set fire to the Messianic Assemblies Church in Jerusalem– the latest of a number of arsons and bombings against Christian and Muslim targets. The church’s address had been placed on copies of Biblical literature later distributed in Orthodox Jewish circles. The church had nothing to do with the literature to which its name had been affixed.
15 Jan. 1984 At the Russian Orthodox convent Ain Karem an Israeli army issue hand grenade exploded as a nun opened her door. The door was blown to pieces but the nun eluded death by ducking around a corner just before the grenade exploded. Israeli police point to the terror group Terror Against Terror held responsible for at least 14 such bomb attacks throughout the West Bank.
Jan. 1984 Plans to build a Christian hotel near Bethlehem were scrapped by the Jewish municipality which refused to issue a building permit.
After the fire meetings of the Baptist congregation are held in tent like structures. Their rebuilding plan is approved by Mayor Teddy Kollek but in the fall the district planning commission decided to allow only the building of a structure similar to the congregation’s original 60 seat chapel built in 1929. The Church filed suit in Israel’s High Court.
Yad Le’ Achim organized protests against the rebuilding plans. an unnamed ultraconservative Orthodox Jewish leader told the Jerusalem Post that his political party would withdraw from the municipal coalition if approval were granted.
.
The High Court in mid 1985’s asked the Baptist congregation to leave the area before it builds a new sanctuary. The court said it would not rule on the church’s suit for two months.
The delay is designed to give the congregation and the Baptist Convention of Israel time to consider trading the church property for another site in Jerusalem.
Lawyers for the church have recommended that the Baptists move on condition the church’s building will be approved as submitted.
23 Jan. 1985 Ultra-Orthodox Jews protest opposite the Baptist Church against plans to rebuild the burnt-out church. The signs read: “Get Out,” “We don’t want a missionary center here.” One demonstrator said: The Church disrupts the Shabbat peace and lowers the quality of life in our quiet residential area.”
13 Apr. 1985 Members of the Assyrian community (the oldest Christian community in Jerusalem), led by their archbishop, were walking to their quarter of the Old City on the occasion of Holy Fire when they were bombarded with hot water and rocks by a Jewish family from their home. This was the fifth time an Assyrian procession had been attacked during Christian holidays. The Jerusalem Post reported that the attackers were newly converted Orthodox Jews from America.
The Jewish neighborhood in the vicinity of the Assyrian convent is all Assyrian property confiscated after 1967 to build the Jewish quarter.
12 Apr. 1987 “Unknown persons” set fire to St. Savior’s Episcopal Church in Akka. The arsonists also painted racists slogans in Hebrew on the church walls: “Kahane the Great,” “Get Out Christians and Muslims, ” and Death to the Pope”.
1988 In Gaza, 18-year old Kader Tarazi, on his way to buy groceries was caught in a crowd fleeing Israeli soldiers. He ducked into the house of a friend but the soldiers dragged him out. While beating him they demanded to know his religion. when he replied “Christian” the soldiers spread him cruxiform on the hood of a jeep and beat him on the head. Then they drove him around the streets of Gaza for hours as an example. He died from the beating.

Christians in Jerusalem Want Jews to Stop Spitting on Them
http://www.haaretz.com/christians-in-jerusalem-want-jews-to-stop-spitting-on-them-1.137099
As I said before the hatred for Christ is very ancient ( if you understand what I mean).
Carmel by the Sea
If they were to do that.It would be the end of Christian zionist support Worldwide (especially in the US).And probably set off a level of anti-Jewish hatred that would rival the nazi era in some countries. As well as lead to the end of Israel as a Jewish state. I don’t see them doing anything so stupid. But then the zionists have always surprised me with their evil.
Wow, this information should be publicized among all of the Evangelicals who think they have a special future in the Second Coming or whatever they believe in that puts them in the same bathtub with Israel and its policies.
Katherine
The era of Israel having a free ride – with the US giving them total cover at the UN, giving huge amounts of military and financial assistance, and the free ride on the back of the memory of the holocaust may be drawing to a close as it moves back in time.
The US as it is now is unsustainable and I have thought that Israel is trying to hedge its bets by getting closer to Russia. Blackmail or threats make no sense if Israel is trying to get closer to Russia as a plan B.
Well, looking at that video I see that Rivlin made a very serious protocol error.
He put his hand on Putin’s back as though HE, Rivlin, were the host and were in charge. That is a classic move whereby humans especially of the male persuasion exert dominance over another. He should not have touched Putin, and he *certainly* should not have made a dominance gesture. He should if anything have made a submissive gesture because he is the guest and on Putin’s territory. In Putin’s lair, actually!
The chutzpah!!
Can it be that with that attempt to show who is boss, Rivlin impelled Putin to show him the error of his ways, with the settlements announcement?
I hope so!!
Katherine
Unlikely. Rivlin is a doddering old show piece having no authority and less say-so. I imagine he was plenty thrilled being in the presence the great world figure, Mr. Putin. The hand on back gesture, if appropriated by a younger toward an older, yes, most definitely inappropriate, but this is Rivlin. He probably has to have help in the bathroom. Second. Israel will not destroy any religious structure, it’s not Israel’s MO. Islam, yes. Islam never saw a building of another religion it didn’t want to destroy. Not so Israel. Of all nations on earth that protects the integrity of other religions, It’s Israel.
That’s just simply not true. I doubt they would either (because of the reasons I posted earlier). But that is different from their destruction of other religious sites. Israel has a long history of either stealing sites that could be thought of as “shared” between Judaism and other faiths. Or destroying sites that are purely either Islamic (they have less fear there),or Christian (when they can find some half-way “acceptable” excuse for it). Carmel in a post about cited a long list of Israeli attacks on Christian religious sites (and only the most well known ones).
@ Douglas Brown,
I guess you skipped over my post with dates and locations of what Israel has done , continues to do and will do.

Leviathan visits Begemot?
wiki
Behemoth is the primal unconquerable monster of the land, as Leviathan is the primal monster of the waters of the sea
[….]
In Jewish apocrypha and pseudepigrapha such as the 2nd century BCE Book of Enoch, Behemoth is the primal unconquerable monster of the land, as Leviathan is the primal monster of the waters of the sea and Ziz the primordial monster of the sky. According to this text Leviathan lives in “the Abyss”, while Behemoth the land-monster lives in an invisible desert east of the Garden of Eden (1 Enoch 60:7–8). A Jewish rabbinic legend describes a great battle which will take place between them at the end of time: “…they will interlock with one another and engage in combat, with his horns the Behemoth will gore with strength, the fish [Leviathan] will leap to meet him with his fins, with power. Their Creator will approach them with his mighty sword [and slay them both].” Then, “from the beautiful skin of the Leviathan, God will construct canopies to shelter the righteous, who will eat the meat of the Behemoth and the Leviathan amid great joy and merriment.” (Artscroll siddur, p. 719).
In the Haggadah, Behemoth’s strength reaches its peak on the summer solstice of every solar year (around 21 June). At this time of year, Behemoth lets out a loud roar that makes all animals tremble with fear, and thus renders them less ferocious for a whole year. As a result, weak animals live in safety away from the outreach of wild animals. This mythical phenomenon is shown as an example of divine mercy and goodness. Without Behemoth’s roar, traditions narrate, animals would grow more wild and ferocious, and hence go around butchering each other and humans.[5]
Bulgakov’s Begemot is based on Puss in Boots, a fairy tale about a cat who uses trickery and deceit to gain power, wealth, and the hand of a princess in marriage for his penniless and low-born master.

:Here is my two cents: I wish they would.
Yes, and we could finally dozer off their wailing wall, blow the kaaba to kingdom come, wake up the next morning without the sky having fallen, sigh a relief, that the mass psychosis has come to an end.
Next we hang the bankers & lawyers(politicians), jew or not(oy wey), and set up an international tribunal to examine the cult of holocaustianity.
That done, the human race can finally resume it’s arrested development…
Well, as my grandmother might have said, ‘That takes chutzpah’ (Loosely translated as serious arrogance or maybe hubris.)
So if that jerk shows such disrespect to the country that saved their butts, Putin could easily say, “fine and we will turn Tel Aviv to dust”.
Truth is, generally speaking, Israelis are nuts. Crazy, Meshugeneh. My favorite grandmother insult was Kopf Verdreinicht, Which I think means, their heads aren’t screwed on straight.
One of the few Israelis I met (and there are some, many escaped to India or other countries) said to me. “The idea that a certain group of people should have sole right to a particular piece of land is …ridiculous”.
Unfortunately, she, Atzmon and a few others are in a very small minority.
Borrowing these words from C I eh?´s comment on Bulgakov´s Begemoth´s tale,
(…) a fairy tale about a cat who uses trickery and deceit to gain power, wealth, and the hand of a princess in marriage for his penniless and low-born master. ,
one wonders who this Cat is and what his purpose is.
Considering his two last prophecies brought here by Scott, it seems that this Cat sees enemies everywhere. Come on, if for him, Russia would be now at war with the whole world and at the same time at civil war, not only interfaith, but also inter-ministerial and inter-Kremlin.
Fortunately, this Cat, or Cat Motja as his friends call him, is not in charge of the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation.
Because, I say, it could not be all much simpler?
I do not know the Israeli Constitution, but I fear it is not among the powers of Israeli President to bring ultimatums of any kind anywhere, for that they have already Netanyahu, I say.
In my opinion, considering that his visit took place after that of the Moroccan monarch who seemed to come mainly to sell fruits and vegetables, given that economic sanctions remain in place at least until June 2016, and businesses need to be done before the season, it might not be that Mr. Rivlin has come to sell products of the Israeli orchard?
“SOT, President of Israel Reuven Rivlin (Hebrew): “We cooperate in many directions, in culture, commerce and on the issue of the Holocaust.”
I do not know, but I can think of.
Alexandra,
I go to great lengths not to offer to my readers any questionable sources.
Cat is an investigative journalist with millions of readers, who have been publishing his anonymous blog for about 10 years. He has proven many times to be correct in his analyses. In regard to the “rumors” that he brings up, very often they come true.
I recall you claimed before being a Catholic from Spain, and then a communist. Do you have any thoughts about losing the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City of Jerusalem?
Your chosen allies “Alexandre Trophimowsky” who was, an anarchist and former Orthodox priest turned atheist, shows your personal struggles with faith and authorities.
I want to assure you that I appreciate your attacks on every single of my posts, under all of your aliases.
I was just expressing my thoughts on the point that you are bringing for discussion (I guess) here, as expressed in the title of your post.
I do not know how in the Earth this is an attack against you, in any case, I am suggesting doubts about this Cat and his way of seeing enemies everywhere, I guess it’s a legitimate opinion.
Then I do not know what this has to do with you ascribing me a number of problems based on the alias I can choose to comment. It has occurred to you that I can choose my alias based on my literary tastes, without more, and that has nothing to do with having problems with the expression of the faith of anyone or with authorities, as you asure? This, yes, really is a personal attack, Scott. Then, of course, if I take it personally, there comes Mod on duty asking that the discussion is closed.
As for : Do you have any thoughts about losing the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City of Jerusalem?
My thoughts are the same as with the loss of the wonderful ruins in Palmyra, Christian churches in Maalula, mosques in Yemen, or any other good of humanity elsewhere, product of cultural expression and heritage ( and cultural expression I include the expression any religious faith ) through the centuries, a real shame, whose responsible should be held accountable, whether Israeli or from anywhere else.
Have a good day.
Alexandra,
You wrote: “I do not know how in the Earth this is an attack against you,”
The other day you wished me to “drown in my own bile.” This is personal.
You’re a smart and knowledgeable person. Why wouldn’t you contribute facts, and expertise and even political “rumors” to our discussion, instead of inventing more ways for me to die.
I have mentioned already that I died once. I am not afraid of death. However, I have responsibilities to my family and my country that I wish to fulfill.
You’re welcome to contribute, but, please, stop writing under different aliases.
Look Scott, I think you should leave the discussion of the other day where it was finished, at least on my part, at the request of Mod on Duty.
But you are bringing it back here again, and therefore I must clarify that it is not true that “I wish you drown in your own bile”, but advise you “beware not to do so”, which is not the same, and this was after seeing in what terms you talked about Mrs.Zakharova and after you attacked me personally on several occasions with advances about me, because of my defense of her.
You said: Why wouldn’t you contribute facts, and expertise…. Contribute facts is what I have always tried to do with my comments. With expertise I can not contribute because I do not consider myself an expert on anything. In fact, I have met throughout my life too self-proclaimed experts that have then caught in some another fail. It is impossible be an expert in anything because you can not know everything on any issue, and in any field there are some people who know some things and others who know others. I prefer the adjective knowdledgeable.
As for inventing more ways for me to die , In what way I am doing so? . I only try you to think about how inconsistent this whispering is. One friend of mine said once that “one can be Its own worst enemy” and that “when you’re in a ditch it is not a good idea to keep digging”. I considered two good thinks to think about.
You said: I have mentioned already that I died once. I had no idea. So sorry. Perhaps it is that I missed the thread where you were talking about this issue? Since I have never heard about anybody returning from death, it would be an interest topic for a next post.
You said: I am not afraid of death. Neither am I, as it could be already obvious, not only for you but also for those in this blog paying enough attention. Only I would ask you: Have you ever found a car of Ukrainian Banderist Nazis parked just in front of your workplace, even when you are living very far from the Ukraine? When something like this happen to you, then I am willing to hear you again about “ways for you to die”. By now, it is whoever who is finding ways for me, or to just scare me or in case I do not shut up and continue talking, kill me directly, I guess.
You said:I have responsibilities to my family and my country that I wish to fulfill.. The same as me, but not only, I consider that I have also responsabilities to the world.
You said: You’re welcome to contribute,. I don to feel like this is so, I only wonder why. Perhaps it is only that you can not stand with dissent, but I go with the sense that there is something more.
One last thing, since you have tried to discredit me by my nickname/ alias, and since I’ve seen that, curiously enough, the search of the name “Alexandre Trophimowsky” on Google gives now as first result an ugly attempt to destroy the charming personality of Isabelle Eberhardt ( for whom I have chosen this name as an alias, certainly , and not for his, so called, father) I leave here a link to a site where a tighter analysis of her is made, and where the reader can verify that it is not just people who have problems with others faith or authorities ( difficult having her collaborated with the French colonial army and embraced the Islamic faith, in its most spiritual branch, Sufism ) who have been attracted to the original personality and exquisite sensitivity of her work , having dedicated to her many literary works and even some opera.
Obviously, “it is not made honey to the mouth of the ass” ( Spanish saying ), and therefore, understand such original and free personality like that of Isabelle is not available to everyone.
But those who can understand can be found in all layers of society……These are the words of his friend, General Lyautey, on Isabelle Eberhardt:
On April 2, 1905, Lyautey wrote Victor Barrucand, the other friend Isabelle:
“We had understood each other well, the poor Mahmoud and me. I will keep forever the exquisite memory of our talks at dusk.
She was what most attracts me in the world: a rebellious. To find someone who is really herself, who has no prejudice, no concessions, no cliché, and pass through life so free from everything like the bird in space, What a gift!
I loved her for what she was and for what she was not. I loved her prodigious artistic temperament, and all of her that scandalized notaries, foremen or the mandarins of any ilk.
Poor Mahmoud!”

The loss of the holy places would be well worth while if in return we got rid, once and for all, of that pestilential brood of self-important, genocidal megalomaniacs who imagine that they’re the master race.
I’m forever amazed at how the contemporary adherents of a breakaway 2,000 y.o. Jewish cult religion, who entertain fantastic magical ideas about an alleged Jewish Messiah, can accommodate the basic apparent Jewish orthodox views that the mother was a slut/whore and the bastard child fathered by a Roman centurion. I have no thoughts either way except to remain puzzled at how this fundamental incompatibility can be reconciled. It seems to be one of those ‘elephant in the room’ taboo topics within polite society. And while this remains an unanswered puzzle then it is hardly surprising that the unchallenged crushing of the Palestinians (many who represent the genetic stock of the Jews of former times who had converted to Christianity and Islam — most likely for pragmatic survival reasons) would simply and naturally in due course roll on to also crushing any physical evidence of Christian heritage in said holy lands. Like the Wahhabi extremists, who claim to be Islamic, crushing any historic references in stone to the life and times of the Prophet of Islam. It seems to be fashionable. Archaeologists lament. Strange times indeed.
From the viewpoint of Judaism, Christianity is considered an idolatrous and polytheistic religion and Jews generally hold Christians in contempt, moreover a return to the 67 borders would never be acceptable. Nevertheless, this seems highly unlikely to me.
First to threaten Putin openly seems much too risky. Secondly, it would be difficult to carry out such a plan and not implicate Israel. Third, a plan to threaten religious artifacts seems implausible given the “good steward” image Israel likes to project regarding Jerusalem. However, if they were actually forced to surrender control of East Jerusalem such a reaction, purely out of spite, is not impossible, assuming ISIS, Hamas or the Palestinian Authority could be blamed.
It is a curious thing how often Jews name themselves after material objects – Stein, and all the other …steins; Gold, Silver, and so on. And for double measure, Goldstein. And so on and on.
It is as if treasure was the only thing that mattered.
