Question: Yesterday, the US-led coalition launched a strike against the Syrian Army and its allies as they advanced toward the town of al-Tanf on the border of Syria, Iraq and Jordan. The Americans justified it by claiming that the Syrians were moving toward a “deconfliction zone”, as they called it. What is Moscow’s position on that? How accurate is the information that the UN Security Council will be convened to address the issue?

Sergey Lavrov: Of course, it’s an aggressive act that violates Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and wittingly or unwittingly is directed against the forces that are waging the most effective fight against the terrorists on the ground. This arouses our concern. By the way, it was reported – and I believe this was close to reality – that those pro-government forces were advancing to the area to prevent the destruction of two bridges linking Syria and Iraq. ISIS wanted to blow them up and eventually did so. If this information is correct, then the strike was carried out against the forces that wanted to foil the terrorists’ plans to destroy links between the two Arab countries.

Regarding the explanation provided by the coalition, claiming that those pro-government forces had violated the “deconfliction” zone, I know nothing about such zones. Perhaps this refers to territories unilaterally established by the coalition that were probably also unilaterally declared to be under its exclusive control. We cannot recognise such zones. As you know, Russia, Turkey and Iran have proposed the creation of de-escalation zones and submitted that proposal for the consideration of all parties concerned. This approach, which Russia, Turkey and Iran have put before the international community, has been coordinated with the Syrian Government. It is currently being finalised so as to specifically deal with the issue of ensuring security in such de-escalation zones and monitoring the ceasefire regime and the free passage of civilians and aid to and from de-escalation zones. To reiterate, all of this is being done in keeping with the agreements that have been reached. One such zone is due to be created in southern Syria near the border with Jordan but its parameters also have yet to be discussed. Such discussions are now under way with the participation of all stakeholders. This approach has been approved by the Syrian government. We consider “deconfliction” territories, declared without Damascus’ consent, to be illegitimate. We hope that the coalition will eventually follow the understanding that has been reached, to the effect that de-escalation zones should be coordinated in detail with all parties.

Things aren’t going as well in the Philippines battle against ISIS and their related terrorist groups on Mindanao as was hoped.The US has now sent troops to the area.

That highlights a big but not fully understood problem in fighting terrorists in the Third World. There are only a few countries in the World that have what I’d call serious militaries .And even fewer of them are Third World militaries. Syria’s,Iran’s, and though not an “official” military,Hezbollah’s,would have to be near or at the top of the list of those. Most of the countries outside Russia ,China,NATO,the Korea’s,are only “prestige” militaries.They have little to no combat experience,and spend as much time, or more, parading instead of training for actual warfare.They are prestige jobs for an officer class made up mostly of upper class elements. A chance to feed of the “public purse”,and look good in fancy uniforms. In some countries they also are used as “police” elements for a dictator or ruling party big shots.

This is the problem that has been the curse of the Middle East and the rest of the Third World since they got independence from colonialism. It was the main reason Israel was able to defeat them over and over.That has begun to only change after the Iran-Iraq War. When Iran realized how much they needed to change if they were going to win when attacked.It changed for Lebanon with the rise of Hezbollah. Who isn’t bound by an upper-class domination of its fighting forces. And only today with the Syrian War has Syria realized that a professional “fighting force” is the only way to protect themselves.Before the war started Syria’s military was the same “parade and police” force in most Third War countries.

That highlights the problem in the Philippines. They’ve had little “combat” experience and training. Their equipment,while sufficient for police work and intimidating local “bully boys”. Isn’t up to the job against well armed committed jihadi fighters.And the party boy officer class isn’t nearly up to that job. The old saying “making a silk purse….” comes to mind. But for the Philippines its even worse. Because for years,over a century in fact.From before independence,until today. They have been under the US’s control. Either “overtly” before independence.Or “covertly” after independence.That (like in Latin Africa) has let the US infiltrate deeply into the Philippines military. And that “bodes ill” for Duterte. The military not performing well in these battles. And now the US “coming to aid them”,bodes even worse.

But as I said that isn’t a problem of only a few. Its a problem of the “many”. Even China,has no combat experience for its military. But luckily for them they seem to realize that the military isn’t a political “play toy”. But in most of the Third World,that isn’t true.It would do well for those countries to ask for Russian training missions to help them.And to adopt some of the professional policies that have transformed the Russian military. And the militaries of Syria,Iran,and Hezbollah.Without doing that ,those countries will be at the mercy of their stronger enemies.And the US will be able to infiltrate their military. And be allowed to use terrorist groups against them.

This is good news for Syria.

But I wonder what will happen when the SAA coalition again comes under attack from U.S. fighter-bomber aircraft. Will President Assad give the order to shoot down the U.S.-NATO planes or will it be business as usual for the western bully?

About the egyptian dna results. I have a theory about what happened after the flood. The ice melted at the end of the ice age, but lots of water was trapped in ice lakes. The one in northamerica was enourmous and there was another one in Scandinavia and the Baltic. When the ice walls broke, the water entered the oceans, then the mediterrenian and then the black sea. I think a high culture was destroyed there. The survivors spread out to neighbouring countries and mixed with other people. They reached the balkans, ukraine, russia, turkish anatolia and other countries. That can explain the sudden rise of egypt and sumer (sinear). It can also explain the superior warriors from russia, who conquered all of western europe around 4.500 years ago.
