A video is circulating in Italy showing an armed policeman abruptly interrupting mass celebration in a small northern italian town in the Lombardy region, ordering the priest to stop the celebration immediately and dismiss the attendees. The priest refuses and goes on with mass, telling the Carabiniere that he has only 13 attendees at mass well distanced between each other and each wearing a mask. The priest will be later fined 680 EUR, and each attendee 280 EUR, all for violating current government measures against public gatherings due to Covid-19.
Never mind the policeman was totally ignorant of the Italian Penal Code which states (art.405) that anyone interrupting religious rites within a public area or public edifice (a church in this case) may be facing imprisonment up to 2 years. Never mind art. 19 of the Italian constitution which specifically protects freedom of religion, and religious rites. The current Italian government, arguably the worst in recent and remote Italian history, has dropped any possible mask of decency and respect of at least fundamental laws such as the Italian Constitution which – theoretically – should be above any other law of the land.
This episode is just another Orwellian scene anyone would have dismissed as impossible only a short time ago. Italians are quickly becoming accustomed to nightmarish scenes they could very well be the plot of a trash horror movie, such as an Army convoy carrying away corpses from the worst affected areas to be cremated elsewhere and without a funeral (and especially without autopsy) to drones and helicopters hovering above a lone walker along a beach or a public park, to police threatening and handing out fines to anyone caught outdoor “without reason”.
Reason, logic, decency and common sense have all gone out of the window, and in a span of time no one could have imagined only few months ago. The main moral authority you would have expected at least to question the implementation of insane measures has quickly abdicated to its role. The catholic church has in fact quickly taken measures that in most case even went beyond what public authorities asked, shutting down churches, masses and funerals, no questions asked. And, such as the case of the priest who insisted in celebrating mass, quickly dismissing him as a rebellious and inopportune outcast.
On top of all this, the current Italian government, a.k.a. La Junta, indeed reminding us of a south American military junta that has hijacked power with a coup. Call this coup as you wish, Pandemic, Covid-19, the Virus, whatever. Civil liberties have been suspended even way beyond sheer medical necessities and reasonability, far worse than any other country in Europe. Today’s Italian governments seems a replica of a puppet government set up by foreign powers, just like it was in 1943, after Italy was split in two governments, one in the south in the Allied occupied zone, and one in the north in the German occupied zone. No one has elected this government, its ministers, the PM, the deputy ministers. They belong to a strange coalition of former archenemies that became –overnight – like old time chums for the sake of sharing power.
M5S (Movimento 5 stelle) and the PD (Partito Democratico) were at each other’s throat before this new government was formed in 2019 in what evidently was a typical commedia italiana. Now they get along very well, not only politically, but also, what a coincidence, geographically. Other than a few ministers and deputy ministers, most members of this government are from southern Italy, including PM Conte. The overwhelming majority of them have no prior working experience of any kind other than being a politician since early age.
After an endless array of new measures and restrictions, more often than not contradicting each other, and in open violation of constitutional laws, the government finally imposed a national lockdown as of mid-March, when it was too indeed too late, as thousands of people from all over Italy had the time to return to their towns and villages from the worst affected area of Italy, Lombardy. The fact that the pandemic did not actually spread – other than few isolated cases – to southern Italy was a blessing, as it could have been a disaster of biblical proportions given the fact that the public health care system in the south is notoriously below decent standards, at least below capacity to face such an emergency.
Hapless, better yet hopeless, Italy’s current minister of public health, Roberto Speranza (whose last name means literally hope) is a fitting example of how this government works. With a degree in political science and no experience whatsoever in the medical field, he named a team of (so-called) experts led by another expert who claimed to be a member of WHO, among other medical honors and achievements.
But only few days ago the World Health Organization (WHO) felt compelled to issue an official statement in which formally dismisses Dr. Walter Ricciardi, the ultra-expert wanted by the hopeless minister, not to be a member of WHO, warning that his opinions “should not be associated” with those of WHO. In fact the guy is a former B-series actor in little known Italian movies, but a degree in medical hygiene and the right political connections earned him a high reputation post such as director of ISS (the Italian National Institute of health) until 2018, when he resigned after an enquiry exposed his collaborations (while director of ISS) with pharmaceutical companies, and his efforts to make mandatory a vaccine against meningococcus B which proved to be completely unnecessary.
It doesn’t take a degree in political science to notice that this is a government made up of pathetic Quislings, whose only preoccupations is to keep their (lucrative) posts as long as possible by following the orders imposed to them on a daily basis from Bruxelles, or Berlin. When other countries offered their help such as Russia, despite statements of warm gratitude by most of the local authorities most affected by the virus, updates of the Russian teams operating in northern Italy virtually disappeared from MSM. This happened after La Stampa, notoriously a leading pro EU establishment daily from Turin, expressed open doubts about Russia’s “real motivations” for being so generous with Italy.
Everybody agrees that the restrictions imposed on Italians and their civil liberties are not just draconian: they are senseless even from a basic medical standpoint, officially implemented to curve the spread of the virus, but in reality to destroy the morale and the will of people. Why is that so? Because the worst is yet to come. The will and resolution of Italians must be broken in order to usher in Greece-style cuts and “reforms” that will bring Italy to her knees, therefore forced to accept any measure imposed by the EU.
The ubiquitous acronym these days in Italy is not Covid. It’s MES, which stands for European Stability Mechanism. Skipping all unneeded technicalities, let’s go forward to what it will mean for Italy in simple terms. This Quisling government, having stubbornly refused to adopt economic measures that all other European countries have implemented, is simply exposing the economy at serious risk of default. When that will become inevitable, then the MES will step in, and will force Italy, in order to “be saved” from complete collapse, to accept a gruesome variety of “recovery” measures just as it happened in Greece in previous years.
Deja-vu, all over again. Just like in 2011 the sudden – forced – resignation of Berlusconi as PM of Italy had the then president of Italy Giorgio Napolitano to form a new, non elected executive in charge of “economic reforms” led by euro-technocrat Mario Monti, the ordeal is being repeated in 2020, courtesy this time of the Invisible Enemy (a.k.a. Covid-19), and the inevitable sudden halt of the Italian economy, so a “task force” of experts overseeing the government economic policies was named overnight by Italian president Mattarella.
Enter Vittorio Colao, whose CV is practically cliché hardly worth mentioning. Former Vodafone CEO, MBA at Harvard, experiences in Morgan Stanley, McKinsey, Unilever and the list could go on and on. Not to mention his personal relationship with Bill Gates, George Soros and other such fellows.
Right after being appointed, Colao has asked for himself and his associate “experts” complete civil and penal immunity. Do you think such a – how to say – peculiar request made the news? Hardly. We owe to a few representatives of the opposition parties who blew the whistle on such a unique request the fact that somehow made it to the news. Complete silence on MSM. What should we assume? That this group of experts is evidently planning to break existing laws, to say the least. It will be interesting to see what will happen in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Italians are getting increasingly tired of this brutal and useless lockdown and most likely will not wait to be allowed to go outside after May 4th.
This stuff is terrifying, and I guess it is meant to be. I cannot help thinking this is intended to instigate civil wars. The EU is nothing but an instrument of terror.
Norwegian
The EU Central Bank is run by private bankers, and this fact says it all. Norway played it smart by not joining the EU, which has been reduced to a private empire of private bankers, doing their utmost to destroy the sovereign status of European states.
European Economic Area
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Economic_Area
Our government did something far worse, they joined eea or EØS in Norwegian.
We get to follow every eu rule and pay the eu a shitload of money without a vote at the table.
Gro Harlem Brundtland got richly rewarded for selling Norway, if she still is alive i wish her no good.
The government likes to brag we are the richest country in the world, yet our infrastructure and churches are rotting and EVERY valuable state asset have been privatized or sold. So do not think Norway was in any way lucky when we/i voted no the eu. (my first vote was NO to eu membership, since that i have not given my consent to the system more then 2 times b4 i woke up)
Gro Harlem Brundtland is alive and retired to someplace comfy. She found herself to be electrosensitive and was forced to resign as head of the WHO in 2003. The electrosensitive community worldwide is begging her to step forward and add her voice to help relieve their distress at the global 5G, AI,.IoT, smart meter etc. etc. living hell being forced on them in the name of the God of Progress, who turned out to be a Trojan horse for for top-down global control. She sold the world out by not speaking up about what she knew.
OT, but I have reports from America and Spain during the past week from researchers who have found a correlation in their respective countries between locations with 5G and case numbers and fatalities of COVID-19.
A very sharp remark. Millions are being forced to stay home from work, close down businesses, and give up their livelihood, yet after seven weeks of inactivity the Conte administration has still left them without any help at all. While every other country, including the US , has managed to tide their citizens over, here there are peopole who have no savings left and are at their wits end at how to feed their children. Millions of people have entered the ranks of the poor. Since this coalition practically admits that it is sticking together to avoid elections which they know they would lose, it is not far fetched to speculate that they would not mind people’s flaring up in exasperation and provoking a clampdown, martial law, a suspension of free elections…..
Hire the Mafia. Cull the Elites. It’s the cost effective solution to the problem.
You can call it “Local Control”. Very democratic concept.
There’s an island further south, a town called Corleone. Ask for ‘Uncle Nunzio’.
I went to Corleone once. The Lonely Planet guidebook said: be on the lookout for tourists hunting for Mafia with a magnifying glass. That would have been us. We did have a nice drink and friendly chat with locals in a bar where there was a big bottle of something cheekily labelled “The Godfather”. Personally I think the epicentre of the Italian mafia is Milan; it’s the regional headquarters for the European mafia which has its head offices in Frankfurt and Brussels. You are right. The Brussels Frankfurt Mafia have been hired and they are very hard at work in Italy. I’ll give them that.
I sometimes wonder whether people who automatically associate Italy with the mafia are actually aware of the fact that so many noble heroic Italians have laid down their lives in the struggle to put an end to the reign of the mafia. Dozens and dozens of people, mostly judges, but also politicians, journalists, just plain tradesmen, have refused to bow their heads to threats and blackmail and have paid for it with their very life.
That is who the Italians are. Mafia criminals are a tiny minority of our people, the rest of us having to put up with a society that is limited and damaged by their existence and expansion. We do not deserve to be identified with Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, but with these much more numerous real life heroes who aren’t even contemplated in the movies. Or at least with the civil society at large which has done a lot to push back against the mafia fear-instelled mentality.
Of course you are right; it’s ridiculous to keep associating Italy with the stereotypical mafia from the 19th century or to remain ignorant of those sacrifices you describe. However the word has been appropriated by the world to refer generically to a gangster or bankster which is how I intended it. I personally se Colao and his team are mafia not because of anything Italian but because they are gangster banksters operating on behalf of the kleptocrats. The problem is where are those courageous people to fight back?
Right now what I see here but (which would be the same in any lockdown+bailout country) is a division between two groups of people: a) those who are NOT suffering financially and have NO expectation of suffering financially; and b) those who are suffering or expect to suffer pretty soon. Group A includes everyone who already owns their home and is surviving comfortably on their pension or income. In Italy this group A is surprisingly large.I am not talking about super people but simply everyone who has a stable enough life.
A guy in his 30s once said to me: “my grandmother was a teacher who worked from 25 to 42 years. Then she retired and she is now 91. Our pension system is bankrupt so I will never get a pension. But I don’t care because I will inherit everything from my parents.”
The math does not add up. The pension fund is bankrupt. The pension scheme for freelancers (Gestione separata) is government fraud. There are too many highly paid people in business and government who do nothing while the real workers are underpaid and small business is going bankrupt.
I thought this whole Ciao Bella thing yesterday was pretty sad. Because all the people singing have NO courage even to ask Conte: WHY is Colao asking for immunity? WHERE did this task force appear from?
I mean I HATE Lega, but they are the only ones asking: why on earth is Colao asking for immunity? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqyV_812CNY
If you study the history of the so-called ‘Italian Mafia’ in the US you’ll find out that its most criminal elements were not Italian at all, but in fact jews from different origins… Try to write about that and you’ll soon find the ADL in your way.
Breaking News from the Central Bank:
ECB Confirms Acceptance Of Junk Debt As Collateral Ahead Of Imminent Italy
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/ecb-discuss-accepting-junk-bonds-collateral
The skids are being greased.
Those who insist that “cui bono” is a fundamental law of history will notice that the destruction of Italy (China’s best friend in Europe) is consistent with other maneuvers aimed at isolating China.
And those who insisted that this covid thing was mainly legit, when there is no excess mortality in 2/3 of Italy, when 60% of the dead are in nursing homes, when there are clear unique situations such as extreme air pollution, when the virus was already circulating in the Fall,
those people should look at the destruction of economy and civil liberties and ask themselves if the lock down described in the article was really worthy, or even imposed in good faith by the powers that be.
The destruction and the looting of Italy is not a product of today, has been proceeding at least since the end of the Soviet Union, thanks to the European Soviet Union, which Vladimir Bukovsky warned us was coming down the pipe, planned by Gorbachev’s Kremlin since the mid-Nineteen Eighties. When Gorby spoke of glasnost and perestroika what he actually meant was restructuting and cleaning house in the WEST- And the demolition of the Berlin Wall was the Trojan Horse that convinced us all that we could stop worrying about communist takeovers. That’s when they moved in. Today the concept of social justice is the struggle against inequality. How many remember that before 1989 it used to be “to each his own”?
Alex – i do have to correct you. Gorbachev wanted glasost and perestrioka to be applied within the Soviet Union. That means he wanted reform and a more open debate. His generation of Russians – and that includes Putin, Lavrov, Shoigu, were desperate to get away from totalitarianism, but the process went too fast and central control was lost once the central planning process was abandoned in favour of privatisations…his biggest mistake..
So…from this background, Gorbachev then looked over at what was happening in Western Europe and he expressed astonishment at the rapidity with which Western European politicians were aiming to totalitarianise Western Europe. His comments are in the public record.
THAT is the way things developed…so i fail to understand where you got your perspective from…
Thanks for the article. I am horrified at what is happening. There is a video by Lord Sumption on youtube where he says that “tyranny happens when people give up their power”. This is the scariest part.
The problem is the following groups in Italy don’t care about the lockdown because they have no financial consequence for now and they don’t realize what’s coming down the road over the next 10 year: pensioners and any public / private employee with an “indefinite contract”, especially those in the corporate and government kleptocracy. This is Italy so that’s a pretty large chunk of the population right there. They have no incentive to protest because they live in la la land and think the EU is some sort of magic money tree. It probably is. For them.
The government is throwing a few hundred bucks and dodgy loans at SMEs and freelancers and the newly unemployed. Right now they are preoccupied with the bureaucratic procedures to actually get any of this promised money This group doesn’t have the energy to protest because they’re worried about making it through the crisis.
A small and vocal group is trying to wake the sheeple up. It’s absurd that the whole country is locked down when the crisis has always been concentrated in a limited number of badly managed and ill prepared hospitals and care homes mostly (but not exclusively) in the north. Until today there’s been NO excess mortality in Central and Southern Italy. There’s supposed to be a protest on April 25th 17:00 which is Liberation Day. Let’s see.
Perhaps Italians need reminding of the power of the people. It never goes away – but they can refuse to use it.
The first part of this link is highly appropriate. It’s all good and worth watching, but the clip from the Movie. “It’s a Bugs Life” really should be watched and taken on board by all of us just now, I feel.

May God go with you.
Pamela I’ve clicked on several of your links today and they all lead to Tarot card readings : is it real or just in your head?
Was that your intention?
:-)
No indeed Babuska. Thank you for the heads up. :-)
I’ve been running a little research project of my own lately – you know. part of house arrest behaviours :-) – on whether one can demonstrate randomness of these YouTube Tarot readings using a Chi square test [most used bit of stats in genetic research].
I’ve already done a “pick randomly with your eyes closed” type – and yes, randomness is shown.
This is part of a supposed “direct reading” type, but I suspect that without direct one on one connection, and done by one who meditates regularly, it too will be shown to be no more than random.
Not finished yet. As always, you collect your source material in case you have to go back to check something, and somehow this got tangled with the link I wanted. I’ve seen that happen before. It warns me to always a check a link in future before hitting “send”.
This was the one I wanted to send

Apologies, and thanks again for the “heads up”.
You’re welcome Pamela
The cartoon segment tells me all over again, how the sadists love to depict for us, our true relationship to them.
In our faces!
The scene was rather reminiscent of that scene in Gandhi, where the confrontationists are inexorably whacked down one after the other with sadistic relentlessness until blood and brokenness fills the landscape
They do it because they can
I shudder
“They do it because they can”
Yes. There is an interview with Stephen Cohen, the American who is a supposed “Russian expert” although I tend to doubt his “expertness” frankly, on occasions. But he does work hard to try to right the horrific imbalance of Russophobia his country is generating.
However, he stated that at a meeting where John McCain was present, that he said to him, directly “why did you do what you did in Ukraine? What for, why on earth do that?”
McCains response? “Because we can”.
About 15 yr ago I paid a visit to an acquaintance and his wife living in NJ. I expressed an interest in going for a walk in the woodland surrounding their property and he got ready to accompany me. This included loading up a gun with ammunition. When I asked, in some surprise, what dangers were out there – bears, wolves? he replied, No, there’s nothing like that there.
To my, I suppose perhaps questioning expression, he said rather aggressively, “you want to know why Im carrying a gun? Because I can, thats why”
I didn’t say a word. But I certainly thought a bit!!! I wasn’t sorry to leave.
“the fact that the pandemic did not actually spread – other than few isolated cases – to southern Italy was a blessing,…”
Another interesting thing is tat number of new cases ad new deaths in Italy has been going down since end of March. If you don’t believe, you can check here https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/italy/ It is all on charts, easy to see.
Number of new cases started with 3590 on March 15, went to over 4,000 on March 18, than up and up, till the end of March. Since then it has been going down. For last 10 days, Mar 13-22, there were less than 4000 cases. Anything going in one direction over 10 days is definitely a trend.
Statistically, Italy is where it was a month ago. And no virus explosion below northern provinces. I am curious to hear what MSM says about Italy these days….
We can expect very soon, in about a week perhaps that in many places we have situation not worse than at the beginning. Perhaps some relaxing of lock-downs in the cards? Then we’ll have to deal with all the things that lock-downs brought with them – no jobs, no money, society fabric weakened.
Happy post corona
The virus has served its purpose. The people are in lock-down, the economy is stalled, monstrous debts have been taken on by governments and police powers have been increased to a police state level. Don’t concern yourself anymore about the virus or where it came from or the people who died from it or just with it.
Now we are being told to concentrate on how we can get through the crisis together. The abnormal is the new normal, our brave new world. Failure to acknowledge the veracity of the official narrative can result in you being demonized in the public arena at the very least. Fines, arrest and jail will awaits to those who refuse to comply.
Our beautiful western culture is being dismantled before our very eyes and all we do is sit fearfully in homes waiting for our governments to throw us a bone. Maybe it’s all we deserve.
This picture is dramatically correct, as Italian living just outside of Italian borders it’s a pain for me observing this situation. I could just add that Italian television is broadcasting h24 “experts” chatting about virus, the number of deaths and the sufferings, brainwashing people forced to stay at home, but forgetting to mention all the things described in the article.
The question, for most of you, could be why they do go out to protest (like is happening in many places in United States). Consider these factors: in Southern Italy, the Mafia controls the local territory. Two big bosses were sent home from prison, officially to ease the jail conditions. Why big bosses and not some petty criminal? The reason is that Mafia could both trigger mass protest or prevent them, so that one can figure out this is sort of deal to keep the situation of Southern Italy under control. It’s just a hunch, but it makes sense. In Northern Italy, a bigger fear of the virus, here more violent, is preventing protests, and up to now the supply chain is working. Since mean wealth is larger compared to the south, many are still to able to tolerate this situation as long as there is food and a roof. The aftermath will be terrible for economics, but this is perceived as a vague future threat.
Finally, Italy never had revolutions like France or US: Italy was a colony of many other countries from the fifteenth century up to now, and (with some remarkable but limited exceptions) Italian way of thinking is not at all idealistic but rather skeptical and individualistic, so that it’s hard to gather many people to protest for the sake of the country and the community. This could happen only if the situation becomes more explosive than now, but sincerely I don’t know if this would be the best for my pauvre pays.
I am Italian and live in one of the most affected areas. I confirm everything that is written in the article. In addition I can say that the worst is expected from the so-called “phase 2” in which people should be gradually freed. in fact, control will be total in perfect Soviet style. An app has already been thought that will control every movement and will have control of every movement but, even worse, it seems it will even be able to grant or limit movement permits, it will be able to change your state from “healthy individual” to “infected” precluding you from any movement and social contact.
We are truly in a nightmare. The effectiveness of low-cost medicines is known but the mainstream continues to bomb people with the absolute need for the vaccine that many people – even educated – invoke. The suspect’s culture is instilled and some urge people to report neighbors who have behaviors that endanger others. We are to this, to the informers, to the child who will be rewarded for reporting the parents. In phase two, according to WHO experts, they will not just remove people from the streets, but they will want to enter families and, as requested by Soros and soon accepted by his European thugs, to divide them. At the same time, while Italian companies are economically strangled, rains of money are granted to NGOs that “import” immigrants who are put in luxury hotels. I believe that more and more people are aware of this even though very many are hypnotized by the media and paralyzed by the fear they instill. A reaction is still not seen. If anyone helps us …
more and more Italians are planning to go outside on this date wherever they are with/without masks
25 APR 5 PM
REGARDLESS of current restrictions
Dear Goffredo di Buglione,
I’d like to say something to you. In the first place you have made a beautiful post, in the second place you describe exactly what I’m afraid of what’s ahead of us.
As an addition, I want to invite everyone to read the work of the Italian journalist and writer Roberto Saviano. In his great book ‘Gomorra’ he describes the activities of the maffia of Napoli, the so called ‘Gamorra’ (there’s also a club like that in the deep south, the ‘N Drangheta, but that’s another story). I can tell you that it is really, really different from the stories from ‘The Godfather’.
Since then there is a price in on his head, he’s under protection and never sleeps two days in the same bed since 2006 or so. Just imagine that. He’s a great writer and I admire his work.
He once published some interviews. Poor couples from South Italy often take the occasion that the husband enters the military to raise some income, are sent away to some godforsaken territory for stealing stuff and may not come back. Roberto Saviano interviewed the widows, sometimes still in their early twenties, and it rips your heart apart.
I have such a feeling that this is just the future that the usual suspects see for many of us. God help us.
Be safe, stay healthy, and cheers, Rob
Saviano is a sweetheart of Italian main stream media. And the Mafias know that; wonder why the anti Mafia judges Falcone and Borsellino have been killed, and Saviano likes to meet Macron…
Thank you Luca. I was reluctant to dampen Rob’s enthusiasm but since you’ve broken the ice, I will confirm. Saviano, who lives in Manhattan, is indeed the darling of the MSM and therefore in the eyes of his fans he can do no wrong, yet he has been sued and condemned to pay damages for lifting parts of Gomorrah verbatim from other publications and he has never or hardly ever been to the place he describes. He knows nothing that would be worth the mafia taking his life. Scampia’s pastor Fr Aniello Manganiello, who lived in Scampia for twenty years, has also received threats from the mafia clan, yet has refused the bodyguards (while Saviano has FIVE of them, full time bodyguards, on the taxpayer dime, which allow him to make a big splash wherever he goes) even though he still lives where the danger is, not in Manhattan. His words in an interview of a couple of years ago: “I don’t know whether Saviano has ever passed by Scampia (the setting for Gomorra) but he certainly hasn’t spent an entire day around here because we would either have met or my parishioners would have told me about it. Here they’ve only seen him on tv. Which means one can write about the mafia without having any direct knowledge of it: all it takes if for lawyers and judges to pass on papers which you can extract stories from to sell to cutting edge publishers and tv channels in search of new markets.”
His work, says Fr Aniello, “may line his wallet, but will not save even one life”. “In violent areas, where there is no law and order, life can only spring forth anew from an alliance with actual people who are lonely and in need of help. Street demonstrations against the camorra clans do not reach either the heart or the mind of the criminals, who don’t even have the tools necessary to understand the language of intellectuals like Saviano.” On the contrary, criminals “need to be looked in the eye, one by one, reassured and loved, protected and fed. If you don’t’ show them an alternative to their behavior you will get nowhere. “. The parish priest disagrees with the unrelieved gloom of Saviano’s book because he says it has made the negative life style he describes seem both inevitable and almost glamorous in the eyes of young people. This makes it hard for those who are actually there like him, to help them refuse its enticements. Not that the things Saviano describes are false but that there are also other things that could have been included to portray life there more realistically.
Well written, Postfataresurgo, and I still keep well stored your 2019 “Britannia” article /italys-worst-enemies-domestic-as-always/
The picture you give about Italian politics is quite to the point, and it represents also a slice of the whole West: no Left, no Right, just Black Rock, Goldman Sachs etc… No opposition at all, other than cosmetic TV shows.
In a way this virus is showing where its strengths and weaknesses are, not because Covid is strong, but because some of its “hosts” aren’t just weak but obviously rotten. So this virus is showing that the rotten hosts are in the West, and the healthy bodies are in Eurasia. With some exceptions like Cuba, that by the way is being courted by Germany for “Covid” drugs ( and this goes back to the Cuba/DDR links ).
Fine, Civilization is winning. Like your Latin pen name, meaning “I rise again, after death”.
Not that Civilization was dead, but sure it suffered a lot during the last five/six hundred years, a hell of a lot.
Let’s be optimistic: somewhere Civilization is rising again, against all odds.
And just one question: I couldn’t find Italian translations of your articles in the Italian version of The Saker. Maybe I didn’t look carefully enough, but if we had those translations we could spread them around in Italy.
And you take good care, waiting for your next articles about Marco Polo’s country ( Kublai Khan is smiling, somewhere, right now ). Ciao
Thank you for your interest in my writings. Unfortunately, 160 years after its creation, and 75 yrs after the end of WW2, this remains a divided country. For April 25th, we have an entire country officially in lockdown, except those who feel entitled to celebrate their side of the story. THEY can go outside and party, the rest MUST stay inside ther homes. Viva l’Italia.
https://www.iltempo.it/politica/2020/04/23/news/giuseppe-conte-libera-partigiani-25-aprile-anpi-liberazione-resistenza-vieta-figli-morti-coronavirus-orlando-pd-1319522/
Yes PFR, someone long time ago said: ” Those who practice logical thinking, end up in heresy “. ( Specially when foxes are in charge of the henhouse ).
And somebody else said ” Ubi ius belli, ibi ius usurae ” ( Which is the hymn of those that feel entitled to go outside and party, as you wrote, and whose business is dividing countries and peoples ).
And have a nice weekend, ciao
The description of the Italian situation reported in this article is so exaggerated to become distorted. Each paragraph describes a real fact, but then each fact is arbitrarily declined to a catastrophic conclusion.
The reality is by far more complex and the dynamic of Italian society does not rely only on the subjects cited in the article.
I have to partially disagree with your opinion article mate. You’re obviously emotively too involved and forgot in your argumentation to add clear irrefutable facts:
Sanity in Italy is regional and Lombardy, the richest region in Europe, and his Fontana’s government have failed miserably, look at the differences (…) with the nearby Veneto also governed by the northern league. Cause industrial interest they failed to implement a lockdown in the most affected areas till the national one
Besides the obvious ignorance of the policeman and the ridiculous situation the priest had no right to celebrate mass: you speak about the blessing the virus has not spread to the south and at the same time criticise the draconian measures the church has taken? Any function celebrated in the south is a giant mass gathering, not comparable with the sad 13 in Cremona.
Besides the obvious reiterated about MES and economic disparity i would not so fast throw stones at the germans: they started mass producing tests by February and implemented a south Korean model to curb the disease, Italy on the other hand has reacted too late and in a chaotic and tragicomic way as always does. Between provinces, regions, and a weak central state, the bureaucratic machine is so gigantic the right hand never knows what the left does. And the never ending 100+ billion evasion adds up to the picture.
The western media in a whole lost in the cold war mentality could not read “From Russia with Love” written all over the Kamaz and grasp the irony, loosing an other opportunity to shut up. 75 years too late, but i was still moved by the column of red army trucks.
Look at the bright side, and laugh at the irony. It’s the first time in my life the factory Lombardy lays still., “it’s like in the war” says my dad who remembers. The first time we all breath pure air and we’ve all to wear a damn mask.
A catholic priest has the very duty, not only the right to celebrate Holy Mass. And the Real Sacrifice of Christ does not need necessarily laymen being involved. Unfortunately, the protestant notions introduced by the second Vatican council have distorted most catholics’ perception in this regard.
If the cardinals and pope say so, the priest has no right to celebrate mass. Catholicism it’s an absolutist deformation of Orthodoxy (the Saker will for sure agree with me in this regard) by definition, any calvinistic (or chauvinistic?) notion introduced after the second council has nothing to do with the vertical structure of the Catholic church. The pope is the heir of st. Petrus on earth, his word should be law for every priest.
I wonder if this is the future of America? All the other figures are following Italy’s trends.
You should pay attention to Diego Fusaro, Italian philosopher.
Sadly Fusaro has a very partisan view on most issues, he’s more engaged in sophism than real philosophy. His conclusion are often logically plausible only because he’s missing part of the picture, same old trick the mainstream applies. The biggest lie is always an untold truth.
Remember the Law of Unintended Consequences. Those that are trying to control us, the so called New World Order, seem to think we are all stupid cattle to be herded to their whims. Little do they know what a stampede will do to them.
Well, I guess I can scratch Italy off my bug-out list. Was hoping to go to Naples. Here in western Washington State, USA, our idiot governor has even banned fishing! Welcome to East Germany, circa 1960. That’s where the COVID tyranny is taking us.
“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” -Benjamin Franklin
I invite all readers able to read italian to read this. No comment needed. Happy 25 April.

Thank you, excellent article.
The authorities of small Montenegro arrest their arch-bishop, let’s say – because some believers attended the Easter’s missa. More than 80 percent of Montenegrins won’t support this.
Thanks Rob for your feedback.
But about Saviano I have to agree with the other replies. He Is a puppet of the worst left Wing. Personally I find him disgusting.
But I can understand that for someone far from out stuff could result brilliant and a sort of an hero.
