Egypt Sends Battle Tanks To Libyan Border As Haftar Forces Retreat Under Turkish Strikes

South Front The Turkish involvement in the Libyan conflict allowed the Government of National Accord (GNA) to turn the tide of the battle of Tripoli and even develop further success by expanding control over a notable chunk of northern Libya. After capturing Tripoli International Airport last week, GNA forces and Syrian militant groups with a direct support from the Turkish Armed Forces forced the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by

Like with MH17 in Ukraine EgyptAir Flight MS804 crash is prequential to the US war on Egypt, by Scott

The US State Secretary John Kerry traveled on Wednesday May 18th to the presidential palace in Egypt.  In news “The US secretary of state has held talks with the Egyptian president in Cario on the country’s political situation and peace proposals for the region, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.” Translating from the political doublespeak into English: The US and Israel tried to push Egypt to drop its support for the upcoming

Yemen Libya Egypt Israel SITREP October 31st, 2015 by John Rambo

Yemen: • Yemen has never been a stable country, even prior to the Arab Spring. • Currently the war is between the Houthis (supported by Iran) in the north against Hadi-loyalists (supported by Saudi-Arabia and co.) in the south and ISIL/AQAP in the east. • The Arab Spring allowed Houthi Shias in the north of Yemen to mobilize just like the rest of the region. • Al-Qaeda in the Arabian

So why are we all celebrating again?!

I have to admit that I am quite amazed at the celebratory tone of much of the blogosphere in regards to Egypt.  Let me say immediately that I have no use for Morsi or his al Ikhwan al Muslimun but, guys, is it not apparent what is going to happen now?Kaveh L Afrasiabi aptly summarized it for the Asia Times: Henceforth, a post-Morsi Egypt will likely embed itself more firmly

Flotilla organisers consider sailing from Egyptian ports!

Gulf News reports: The organisers of the Gaza aid flotilla are not ruling out the possibility of the fleet sailing from Egyptian ports should their efforts to sail from Greece fail to materialise. Pro-Palestinian activists in Egypt have taken up the flotilla’s cause, inviting organisers to launch the fleet from Egypt after Greece made it clear that it would not allow the Freedom Flotilla 2 to launch from its ports.

The Caucasus, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Hezbollah and an appeal to my Muslim readers

Back from my short trip I want to share with you a hodge-podge of observations and thoughts.  Let’s begin by the Caucasus. Two things are happening simultaneously in Chechnia, Dagestan: Wahabi insurgents have embarked on a systematic campaign of terror against non-Wahabi Muslim clerics and scholars.  This is happening against a background of major losses for the Wahabi insurgency whose leaders are being killed by the Russian security forces one

Another major victory for the Egyptian people?

According to Ha’aretz and the BBC, Egypt will permanently open the Rafah crossing into Gaza The Rafah crossing will be opened permanently from 0900 to 2100 every day except Fridays and holidays, beginning Saturday 28 May: the crossing will be opened permanently from 0900 to 2100 every day except Fridays and holidays, beginning Saturday 28 May. If that is true, this is wonderful and long-awaited news!! Brick by brick, the

Does anybody know?

Does anybody have any info on what is happening, if anything, at the border between Egypt and Gaza? Also, has Hezbollah made any statement about the events in Egypt? What about Hamas – are they doing anything in response to these events?  FYI – al-Jazeera live stream here: http://english.aljazeera.net/watch_now/

Tehran 1979 – Cairo 2011? (some random thoughts)

I am amazed by the video coming out of Egypt.  I constantly switch from al-Jazeera, to RT TV, to Press TV and back.  Could it really be that the Mubarak regime could really fall? (I got to give al-Jazeera a big “bravo!” for its coverage of the events in Palestine and Egypt.) I have written many time here that Egypt is the most important and also the weakest link in

I wonder if Muslim-haters will notice this…

Democracy Now reports: Muslims Act as Human Shields for Coptic Christians in Egypt In Egypt, millions of Coptic Christians celebrated Christmas on Friday as the community continues to reel from the New Year’s Day church bombing that killed 21 people and injured dozens more. In a sign of solidarity, thousands of Muslims gathered on Thursday night to protect Egyptian Copts as they celebrated Christmas Eve. Acting as human shields, the

Breaking News: Mubarak opens the Rafah crossing

According to Le Monde Mubarak has just ordered the opening of the Rafah crossing into Gaza. Ynet and al-Jazeera confirm. Ynet adds: It remains unclear whether the move has to do with the failed aid flotilla to Gaza, because the crossing opens once a month for a few days. Palestinian and Arab officials are pressuring Cairo to keep the crossing open indefinitely.
