I was recently asked how Russians would handle ethnic riots. Normally, the regular police would be the first level of defense, but pretty soon the Mobile Special Militia Detachment (OMON) would be called in as they are the regular riot police. I recently came across a video showing how special riot-suppression forces of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) train for that kind of events. Though the OMON deal typically with civilians riots and the FSIN with the much more dangerous people incarcerated in Russian jails or labor camps, there tactics would be similar. See for yourself this recent FSIN training video:
The next level up would be to call in the newly formed Russian National Guard or the Independent Operational Purpose Division (ODON) who have enough power to conduct independent military operations.
My point? Russia has a full set of instruments to crush any level of violence inside her borders, from small local riots to a regional insurrection. Not only that, but on each level Russian authorities are fully capable of bringing down a level of violence against the rioters which would be quite unthinkable in Europe. Careful here, I am NOT saying that they necessarily would do that, not at all. In fact, riot control in the USA and in Europe is usually much more heavy-handed because these are “official democracies” so they get to behave like dictatorships, whereas Russia is an official “authoritarian regime” and therefore most exercise the utmost caution when dealing with riots. Which is all fine and dandy until things really get out of hand, at which point the Russians will bring in whatever amount of violence needed to restore law and order. Here is the key thing: everybody knows that, including the various ethnic minorities, foreign workers and refugees.
There are *a lot* of ethnic gangs, immigrants and assorted refugees in Russia, and during the 1990s some of them behaved in a way very similar to what we see in Europe today. So Russia learned that lesson the hard way. This is why such events don’t happen in Russia anymore.

Wow. I was in Moscow in mid 90s during wild days when Chechin gangs were going crazy from watching The Godfather.
I was in the Kiev metro when Tatum was killed, the police didnt want to know anything, even from a witness.
btw, the wiki story is bs. I tried to correct but my cooments s were removed. Weird? Why would wii bother with such a trivial matter?
@ T1
I would ask the same question. Once I tried to correct an erroneous wiki entry and it was rejected. It was related to Jewish ethnocentrism (where they support each other on the basis of their Jewishness, hence the exclusion of others) and now I know why.
wiki is useful because if it was not useful the intelligence operation called wiki would not function…
Get it? It’s an intelop…
As the evidence and the genesis of the operation confirm…
Wiki is useless because of the leftists that are the editors.
http://Www.infogalactic.com is a next Gen online encyclopedia. It has all the wiki content and is implementing technology that will allow people to see the content they want to see on a topic. It means the filters will be tunable and editors don’t get to groom “truth” to a particular view.
I was going to ask that question myself: What’s your point?
Trying to denigrate Russia for being tough on peaceful civilians who might protest against the ban on vodka? Or not allowing the desecration of sacred sites by Pussy Rioters?
The trouble with those heavy-handed outfits is their normalisation within the state apparatus, therefore likely to be used and abused by whoever is in power. The UK is such an example where the traditional unarmed plodder has been replaced by roboticized terminators who bash a passer-by to death and discharge point-blank shotguns at innocent commuters. Not to mention the Yankland atrocities as at Kent University and Waco.
I believe the move to the militarization and brutalization of police forces is not an accidental coincidence: it is a planned scheme to intimidate the citizenry into subjection and, should push come to shove, suppress any dissent. Basically it is an official admission that the people will eventually figure out that their “democratic rights” are a smoke screen for totalitarian rule and might feel the urge to take direct action to remove the political class from their perch as guardians of the plutocracy. Therefore an intimidating praetorian guard must be in place to thwart any fancy ideas of people power and revolution. The ruling class – West or East – doesn’t leave things to chance.
Q: I was going to ask that question myself: What’s your point?
R: I wrote in the text: “My point? Russia has a full set of instruments to crush any level of violence inside her borders, from small local riots to a regional insurrection”
If this is too complicated for you suggest that you read another blog. Or watch TV.

where would mahatma gandhi fit into this? If the demonstrators just layed down would those storm troopers beat them into the ground? sometimes people have legitimate gripes, such as their houses
being torn down by local corrupt officials or maybe there is no way to get attention to a problem without a group action – even though you need huge giant numbers of people, like in the may 9th parade, in my opinion. but at any rate, what are people to do when the whole structure is unjust,
persecutory and generally bad for everyone? just be afraid and not do it?
You are confusing the issues here: a knife can be used to cut bread or to murder someone. A knife is a knife. How it is used is a human decision. But to be useful, a knife has to be sharp to be able to cut. This video shows that the knife the Russian state has is sharp. It says nothing about how it would be used. That is a totally different topic.
Yes 100 % agree ! 100 % true ! and this is a HUGE difference with Europeans countries !
It remind me once when i was on Palace Square for the new year in St Petersbourg.
Of course there was a big security dispositif to acces the square for the concert in the evening.
I have spend maybe half an hour near the gates, just to look how the security forces where working.
It was a quiet amazing experience for a french guy who use to see how the french police is sometime treated by some elements in France.
Here they didn’t needed to use any forces, when someone was not allowed to go in, they just had to say “NO”.. and this was VERY CLEAR and enough !
I was amazed, and i was just saying to myself… “yes man, this is definitley some “forces de l’ordre” … (don’t know the exact word in english)… and at this moment i just realised that i had forgot what is a real police force, how it is working, and how it is sometimes needed !
For the police force to do their job of policing (not simply bashing heads in) they need to be respected and their employer ie. the government needs to be respected in Evrope neither are.. nobody here feels represented by the government nor protected by the police anymore.
Everybody knows that cops will only come after the native population(ie. for “hate speech”) and that the courts will release or give a wrist slap to any “non-native” criminals.
Every encounter in the US with cops encapsulates an objective threat of the so-called “citizen” being murdered by the cop, without significant risk to his health or employment…and everyone knows this. No one but cops (and they many times) has ever threatened me with a gun. And I have lived an adventurous long life… And those threats? Those came out of the blue and were 100% uncalled for and criminal. I have experienced kidnapping, assault under color of authority (a statuary felony crime) beating assaults, and the making of deadly threats all these personally – and they are all common in police encounters – generally for political purposes…and this does not address the actually political assassinations – an Atlanta cop is understood to have murdered Martin Luther King – just for an example – and that’s been judged by a jury…
Ivan’s cops evidently are made of better stuff, and also plenty tough.
I wonder if this destruction of “trust” is simply coincident with Forward Operating Base NA of the 4th Reich, or not. Maybe it’s a part of a deliberate Policy of “rule by fear and division”. Whatever the reasons, and there are always reasons, the result is that there is a terrible mistrust together with disgust and contempt – of course the media tell the fairy tale dictated by the canon of the elite and ruling class.
Nobody trusts the courts either…
This is normal, some say, as the Country is in collapse…
There are, however, some pretty good men and women still involved with cop operations in rural areas that remain economically in operation, ie actually functioning, because people in those area have a good set of reasons to cooperate, and that goes for local cops too. Our sheriff is ok. I don’t trust him, but he’s ok, and I voted for him… – there are only a few thousand people in our county – a small riverain lumber and farm area…
What can local cops do? Their best, and hope that’s enough… They are only cops, not saints. And, quite honestly, the cop organizations in US seem to be “instructed” to be especially mean and violent – by Israeli sources…a colonization by an insidious method – can this be seen as a 5th column?
I will think about that question, Comrades…
Agree. The Western justice system no longer works.
An example: Giving a migrant a conditional punishment does not work if tomorrow he just goes to another country with another identity.
“unthinkable in Europe. ”
-Facepalm, Russia is a country in Europe, Russians are the most numerous European people
Most of Russia is considered asian territory, plus russian culture is nothing close to european, more eastern and dont think russian would like to be called europeans, no thank you.
That is easy to find out. Have someone from Khabarovsk ask the neighbours if they considered Russians European or Asian. I am willing to bet that for a Chinese a Russian is European, not Asian.
“This is why such events don’t happen in Russia anymore.”
It happens as usual, it is just that Russia government cracked down on any organization protecting ethnic Russians capable of organization any resistance or spreading any information, it did this when the color revolutions started to pop up. So now Russia is like W.Europe, racist crime against ethnic Russians in normal, it happens in silence, police does not act, media does not report and the people do not know.
“MIA: in Moscow, almost 70% of rapes are committed by immigrants from Central Asia”
http://en.news-4-u.ru/mia-in-moscow-almost-70-of-rapes-are-committed-by-immigrants-from-central-asia.html
Kind of hard to claim it isn’t reported when it is reported like your post.
As well, how much of that is actually true? You can’t believe everything you read.
You should have added how the Russians deal with a hostage situation also
Just found this
“Four Soviet diplomats were kidnapped on September 30, 1985. Arkady Katkov, a consular attaché, was killed by his captors; the other three (Oleg Spirin, Valery Mirikov, and Nikolai Svirsky) were released a month later.[19] According to a 1986 report by the Jerusalem Post, the release of the hostages occurred following the kidnapping and murder of a key Hezbollah leader by the KGB.[31]”

that is all well and good but cast your mind back to the
maidan…they had sticks, iron bars and molotovs.
these ”rebels” only had fists and kicks.
but its traiing so they don’t want any injuries.
first of all, when people riot, it’s usually for bread or justice. second of all, common criminals are too often the orchestraters of riots. they revel in power and they’re very adaptable, mobile and good faith is wasted on them., as witnessed in west.
