In the CrossTalk conversation the important issue was raised: who of the European leaders was and who was not present at the 9th of May Victory parade.

I unsuccessfully attempted to post this question on this blog before and will ask it here again: was the President of Czech Republic Milos Zeman present at the 9th of May military parade in Moscow or was not?

The official Russian government outlet “Sputnik” stated in http://sputniknews.com/europe/20150509/1021940205.html:

The Czech leader attended earlier in the day the Victory Day Parade in Moscow, commemorating the 70th anniversary of victory over the Nazi Germany in World War II.

However, by all other accounts in entire Russian press and other press that I saw, he did not attend the parade. I watched carefully the military parade on video, which focused on various world leaders present, but Milos Zeman was nowhere to be seen.

I think that Czech president and Slovak prime minister didn’t go to the parade, but were in Moscow and attended the tribute ceremony at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier afterwards as a sort of compromise:

Given that Czechoslovakia was invaded by the Nazis, and liberated by the russians, why would they have felt a need either not to attend or to compromise?

        • Johan on May 12, 2015  ·  at 12:42 am EST/EDT

Tells you who still rules the planet. If it wasn’t so, Putin would have been able to actually do something about Ukraine, wouldn’t he?…

          • Anonymous on May 12, 2015  ·  at 6:29 am EST/EDT

Johan, most unfortunately, yours is the only logical observation.

While we do not see behind closed doors the evidence is still plain to see.

The wool is pulled over, mostly, everyone’s eyes http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/pull-the-wool-over-your-eyes.html

    • DWP on May 12, 2015  ·  at 11:35 am EST/EDT

The story in the Czech republic is, that Zeman wanted to go. He then got shitloads of criticism and compromised by not attending the parade and join the group afterwards for the tribute ceremony (together with the Slovak prime minister) Zeman personally would have gone there, He is not the type to care about US-pressure. He hates NATO and he opposes the sanctions. He needed to calm the homefront though (they were threatening to start an official procedure to kick him out of office) and so he did. Zeman is a strange man, a bad politician, and a drunk, but he is outspoken, knows his history and understand who are pushing the buttons in Europe.

Watching this, good show alright with commentators we now have seen at least 15 times.

I think I am not alone in this community to actually dream of seing The Saker on this program.
And on every other MSM program… few people have such a clear cut thought.

    • Ann on May 12, 2015  ·  at 6:21 am EST/EDT

anon…if you think Saker should appear on this show…why is it you don’t even give us your name ?

The American soldiers in The Ukraine are not there to train Ukranian militias / army / Naz Guard.
    That is just a pretext.

Having US GI Joes teaching former Soviets in how to use former Soviet Weapons and tactics is clearly a joke.
There is no lack of experienced military officers in the Ukranian army to actually “train” soldiers.
They could have used Georgian, Polish, Croatian, and of course Ukranian (many Afghanistan veterans) mercenaries and officers… which would be more efficient, easier politically and even cheaper.

The real reason for why there are US soldiers in The Ukraine is… simply to place US soldiers in the Ukraine… close to the Russian border… 500 km from Moscow.

Think about it, these soldiers dont sleep in tents. They establish an ifrastructure and logistics (also fuel, weapons storage, barracks, airports, helipads etc) that can carry equipment for several US divisions.

    War is approaching.

    • Johan on May 11, 2015  ·  at 11:20 pm EST/EDT

Good observation. Things do point that way, unfortunately…

    • jfb on May 12, 2015  ·  at 2:16 am EST/EDT

I don’t think so. They are there to protect Porochenko from a coup, from his own army. Unless the US reinstate the draft and dispatch a million soldiers there I don’t see how the US could plan an invasion of Russia.

    • Erebus on May 12, 2015  ·  at 4:48 am EST/EDT

The official story is misdirection. They are there to serve as a trip-wire, to reduce Russia’s options.
Placing them there renders Russia unable to solve the Ukraine Question using its military without killing an American soldier. Plausibly deniable Russian “vacationers” killing plausibly deniable American mercenaries & volunteers is one thing, Russian military killing Americans on officially sanctioned duty is another.

      • Katherine on May 13, 2015  ·  at 1:35 am EST/EDT

This makes a lot of sense to me.
        A kind of poison pill.
What happens if Russia calls the bluff by sending in a Russian NGO or something to help Novorossiya? What about asking the Red Crescent to help Novorossiya? Is that a dumb question?

Excuse me, moderators. Why am I getting the “you are posting to much . Slow down.”
        Katherine

[MOD: sorry, it’s not us, it’s the silly system. If it gets “too many” at once from everyone, it gives that message. It’s sort of like a busy signal from a phone, but it accepts your comment first, that’s how silly it is. . Just ignore it].

        • Erebus on May 13, 2015  ·  at 8:10 am EST/EDT

As the aim is to limit Russia’s military options (to prevent a Crimea-like operation in Novorossya), the appropriate “NGO” for Russia to send would be private military companies like RSB Group, ChOP “Viking”, or perhaps Kadyrov’s 10,000, though I’m not sure of the the latter’s legal status. Perhaps there’s others who would be more effective than these fairly well known ones.
Russian political and humanitarian NGOs are active in Donbas already, and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Red Crescent was amongst them.

A participant in this CrossTalk, Alexander Mercouris, just wrote a truly must read historical article in Russia Insider, on the topic about which Putin spoke in his press conference with Merkel on 10th of May: The Truth About the Soviet German Non-Aggression Pact of August 23rd 1939 and Its Secret Protocol. Something that everyone ought to know.

Poroshenko violates Minsk deal vowing to recapture Donetsk Airport – Kremlin

Petro Poroshenko vowed on Monday to take the airport back: “I have no doubt – we will free the airport, because it is our land. And we will rebuild the airport.” He also promised to erect a monument to the “cyborgs,” which has become a common nickname for the Ukrainian soldiers that fought against the forces of the self-proclaimed eastern republics for control of Donetsk Airport.

Poroshenko spoke at the premier of the documentary “Airport”, which was dedicated to the siege.

When asked if he thinks such words violate the Minsk peace deal, the Russian president’s press secretary said they do: “Of course, they are a violation. In fact, we have repeatedly said that Ukraine is not complying with the Minsk agreement.”

Well, there you have it. My guess is the next zionazi offensive against Novorussia is close.

    • Так так on May 12, 2015  ·  at 8:33 pm EST/EDT

Вот так, have no fear, cheer up! Zionazis are deluding themselves if they think that Putin will continue doing nothing.

But they are wrong! Because Putin is only pretending to be doing nothing: he has been pretending to be doing absolutely nothing for well over a year and by golly – he fooled even us!…

Unbeknown to anybody, he has a secret plan up his sleeve: if they dare attack, within a year or two he will demand a “Minsk III” meeting! What will Poroshenko do then, ah?!

      • Purple Library Guy on May 12, 2015  ·  at 10:16 pm EST/EDT

Well, if Putin’s been doing nothing it’s been pretty effective nothing. He’s been taking lessons from the Chinese in “wuwei” maybe?

        • Так так on May 12, 2015  ·  at 10:54 pm EST/EDT

Uhuh. Effective in fooling the faithful. Which not ever is a difficult endeavour, is it ;-?

What do you want Russia to do about Ukraine?

Ukraine is gone. The people are content to stay with the Poreshenko regime, no matter what you May want to think.
The only part that doesn’t is Donbass, and it’s important they stay part of ukraine to ensure that ukraine cannot move to nato membership. We already know the EU doesn’t want them

        • Так так on May 13, 2015  ·  at 12:01 am EST/EDT

“… The only part that doesn’t is Donbass, and it’s important they stay part of [U]kraine to ensure that [U]kraine cannot move to [NATO] membership. …”

          You are absolutely right!

The only important thing is that “they” stay part of Ukraine to ensure that Ukraine cannot move to NATO membership!

Of course, it is not (not) important what happens to “them”, what selfish “they” themselves wish, how many of them are killed, maimed, tortured, baked alive, skinned alive, you name it. Those pesky Donbass “they”. If “they” would just volunteer to mercifully disappear – for the Common Good of Him & His Oligarchs. Even a “Buddhist” can cross himself during a Parade, so why wouldn’t “they” sacrifice something too – like themselves and their families – if not their principles as that guy did.

the economy of uke may be crumbling, but not the PLAN.
Notwithstanding the latest May 12 overhyped 4 hour “meeting” with Mr. Ed & Maddog Vick.
just buying more time to put the blocks in place, right under putin’s nose.
    Yeah, they’re really running scared!

ANTALYA, May 13. /TASS/. NATO has strengthened its office in Kiev, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday at a news conference following a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission on the sidelines of the alliance’s foreign ministerial meeting.

“We have strengthened our office in Kiev. Provided advisors to the Government of Ukraine, including the Ministry of Defense,” Stoltenberg said.

“We have stepped up our support to Ukraine on command and control, logistics, cyber defense and rehabilitation of wounded soldiers,” he said.
