The problem here is Ray McGovern. He is still drinking the Obama Kool-Aid and always has. He always gives Obama the benefit of the doubt. He thinks Obama acted as a leader in getting the Iran deal. That’s completely wrong. Obama only supported the deal in order to secure some sort of legacy” to justify his Nobel Peace Prize for his own ego. Otherwise he is completely on board with Israel attacking Iran. Obama was ready to go to war with Syria in 2013 over bogus “chemical attacks.” Obama lied to Turkey and Brazil over what he would accept as an Iran deal in 2010.
How anyone can still buy into the Obama myth is unsettling. But tons of people still do, including McGovern.
McGovern wants to believe Obama is running the show when it’s been demonstrated over and over again in Afghanistan, Ukraine, Libya, Yemen, etc. that he’s nothing but an empty suit being told what to do by his advisers and his political career supporters in Chicago. And he goes along with it as long as he continues to strut around as President of the United States (like a pidgeon, as Putin said.)
What matters is what the other two guests pointed out: the facts on the ground, i.e., the US is still dropping weapons DIRECTLY TO ISIS, not bombing ISIS from the air except when they attack the Kurds, and doubling down on the rebels with a new $600 million arms and training program.
What Obama thinks personally is mind-reading on the part of McGovern. What Obama is really like is known by his actions.
“that he’s nothing but an empty suit being told what to do by his advisers and his political career supporters in Chicago. And he goes along with it as long as he continues to strut around as President of the United States (like a pigeon, as Putin said.)”
Yep.
Gotta agree with this take.
I am surprised at McGovern’s Obama worship. That hadn’t come through to me in his written commentaries.
But McGovern did mention the Israelis. That was useful.
Brian Decker is good. never saw him before. He looks preppy and waspy but doesn’t sound preppy and waspy. And I always like Draitser, and I think he might have nailed it: The USA and co. will try any way to continue to push their basic agenda to break up syria and if it looks like diplomacy that doesn’t mean it is real diplomacy, but just another ruse. And the State types would love to do some strutting and preening, and take credit and count coup for being teh ones to convene some kind of conference. LIke the Obama pigeon, after it has shat on the chess board, act like they won the game/are commanding the stage. Taking charge of the situ!! Ha ha. I don’t think so. It is Putin who has issued the invitations. The Americans are just guests at his table. They will consent to attend the party in bad faith, to divide, create chaos, whatever it takes to achieve the full spectrum dominance dream/fantasy/nightmare and perhaps gain a little more time while they drop ammo etc. to ISIS. Actions speak louder than words. Animals don’t understand words, they respond to gestures and threats and displays of force.

Correct, Richard. We Americans have to face what Ray McGovern seems incapable or unwilling to face. We like to be optimistic, but let’s not be naively stupid. Our nation has been hijacked by criminals who not only want to tear apart every secular state in the ME, but any competing force ANYWHERE. Ergo, real peace is not in the cards ANYWHERE until this imperialist structure is stymied, reduced and dismantled.
They will talk and try to buy time when caught off guard, as in Syria, but make no mistake, Obama or no Obama, they will keep coming there and elsewhere, with violence, lies, deception, regime change, false flags and everything else in their bag of tricks, relentlessly, all the way to Russia and China, and WW 3, if they are not stopped.
McGovern needs to get rid of his Pollyana glasses (as if a temporary time buying retreat from 100% bellicosity and criminal insanity signals any real change in the Big Picture!!) and get a competent global overview in which to place current Syrian developments. There is some optimism in those developments because of Russian leadership. But from here?? Not a chance until a new presidency breaks the power of the banksters that own Obama and most of congress.
Yet at the end of the day, Obama didn’t bomb the Syrian government in 2013. He weaseled out of it in the face of massive public backlash and his own generals saying it would be massively expensive and a mistake.
The US isn’t dropping weapons directly to ISIS. They air-dropped the Kurds some ammunition recently, mostly as good PR. Of course they didn’t admit to arming the Kurds, instead saying it was going to a new “Syrian Democratic Forces”, an opposition coalition brainstormed up on the spot that is 90% Kurdish in terms of manpower.
The US (CIA, shadow government) is still funneling in TOW missiles like crazy to a dozen or more small FSA umbrella groups in Northern Syria, but these are all subservient to Al Nursa. In an offensive they help Al Nursa take a town/city – and then Al Nursa occupies it and installs Sharia law. Even anti-regime activists admit as much.
A video of Iraq forces entering Baiji refinery and finding US parachutes and webbing crates from arms drops to ISIS in refinery is available on the web.
Syrian forces in the last few days finding US weapons and ammunition only a week or so after US arms drop in Syria.
Initial reports were US had dropped 100 tons. Soon after this was down graded to 50 tons to Kurds.
It seems the other 50 tons went to ISIS.
When Obama was first running for prez, I believe Sibel Edmonds and McGovern had a public falling out because McGovern supported Obama then, while Edmonds knew better.
I think I’ll lean towards the opinion of a professional ex-CIA field agent who still has connections in the US security establishment and is fluent in Russian. He is likely to have bit more insight into the inner workings of their Regime then us Prols. Of course, there’s always the possibility that McGovern is spreading some pro US PR, but all in all the events to date support his spin on events than those of his detractors.
The truth is we don’t know what Obama’s real position is nor what constraints he operates under. This guy came out of nowhere and was parachuted into that position. He doesn’t have a personal powerful constituency to back him, that means he’s very dependent on those back room forces that put him in power, therefore his only real power flows from his ability to block, delay, sow-confusion and implement deniable obstruction. Of course, all of the aforementioned could be us outsiders trying to rationalize mundane incompetence and bureaucratic disfunction (or a combination of the 2; deliberate obstruction against direct intervention as well as actual incompetence).
Even if Obama is as “nice” or “less bad” as McGovern make him to be, he is at best, a “useful idiot” of neocon hawks. So which is worse, a McCain “all out war” type or a useful idiot of those that are constantly scheming for more wars ? All I know is I will never vote for any POTUS on the grounds that the candidate is “less bad”, I learnt my lesson : voting for the less bad only leads to less resistance to bad policies!
I don’t understand the need to somehow resolve or agree what Obama wants etc. He’s an opportunist, the American “deep state” appears increasingly opportunistic as well. They may not make sense publicly or privately. They lie. My question is can they diplomatically take apart the Russian, Syrian, Iranian coalition against Isis? I doubt it, but would like to see it discussed. I tend to think it makes sense to engage the Americans diplomatically and in negotiations also, because that can help to prevent them getting any grand stupid ideas in their isolation. Yet it gives the coalition time to do their work on the ground as well as diplomatically behind closed doors to weaken the American side and allegiances there. Of course they’ll keep supporting their terrorists, but can they win? The economic integration to the East taking place is just as important in walking the Americans out the door in the long term.
Obama is nice, humanitarian, thoughtful, great for getting the MIC into trouble, because as the great Madeline Alblight famously said, “What good is a great military if you aren’t going to use it” For real messes, however, try Killary or extra-stregnth GOP.
Anyhow, that’s the cynic in me talking. Curiously, Peter Dale Scott in one of his more recent books– I forget which one– devotes a paragraph to how presidents Nixon, Clinton and even the Bushes have reined in some of the worst tendencies of the deep state.
The Obama/Putin plan resulted in the fourth largest October gains since 1929 on Wall Street this month. Putin’s visit to New York, the sole purpose of which was to coordinate the globalists’ next move in the Middle East face to face with Obama, worked wonders.
Wall Street obviously is not worried about the empire’s interests in the region.
Follow the money. Washington and Moscow work together. After all, Lavrov probably spends more time with Kerry than with his wife.
Anonymous at 12:25 am, your formulation is quite odd. A Wall St market move of one month explains everything? I seriously doubt that!
The world works through conspiracies. But that doesn’t mean that many conspiracy theories (especially one dimensional ones where money is said to explain everything in such simple “market move” terms) shouldn’t be tossed in the trash for failing to account for innumerable other phenomena, besides a sucker rally on Wall St.
Such as the fact that Wall St and the Empire of which it is a part would dearly love to regime change Russia, if they could. The reason they demonize Putin is that he does not share their globalist agenda and they cannot buy him. But he came to New York a month ago and the market went up, so he’s part of the globalist cabal? Please.
Some time ago I believe it was the Saker who said that there was conflict between the Anglos and Zios in the Anglo-Zionist camp.
I wonder if Obama is leaning toward the Anglos, who I imagine are more interested in business than WWIII. I’ve heard tell that Obama and Netanyahu are at loggerheads.
I could be way off base. I don’t hear much about the internal conflicts within the empire but it’s reasonable to think they exist.
I agree with those who think Obama is a strawman. He just may see which way the wind is blowing and goes along with whoever is steering him and appears to have more power.
Mr. Leary, I am the guilty party. I have been saying this for the last two years. Both AIPAC and Netanyahu are history, so due to this we are in very scary times. But Good always trumps over Evil.
The “Crosstalkers” unanimously and conveniently omitted mention of the most important outside terrorist controller, organizer, and financier, (with American taxpayers’ money), of the Terrorist forces within Syria, the Zionist state.
Why is that?
Why did they omit all mention of them?
How could Peter Lavelle and the others make such a blunder?
Actually, the news headlines that the Americans are planning to send troops, advisers, and the Irgun into Syria, is Mis-Direction news. They are already there, in the many thousands, and they command many thousands more Mercenaries from far and wide. Didn’t the Russians just say where 20,000+ of these fighters came from? Wasn’t anyone listening? The terrorist remnants from the 1990s attempts to dismember Russia are in Syria, with more from Afghanistan, many underemployed American, NATO, & Zionist veterans, (such as the ones who can’t tell the direction of Mecca). Why do you think they are getting $100 of millions of supplies dropped to them by the American Air Force?
[You racists – you, these terrorists are not just some faceless ‘islamic’ Arabs.] The terrorists are the American dems, reps, zionist land thieves, and a mixed bag of employees. Who the hell else do you think they are?
Now, Vladimir Putin, Russia’s President, and the other Russian leaders and soldiers are honoring their pledge to save Russia. The Western European leaders (including many not yet in power), understand that fact, and those who wish to avoid a nuclear winter, will attempt to restore their national sovereignty from the Jewish and American Oligarchs. I am thinking of the Le Pens, Soral, Corbyn, Laurent, and many others rising from the ashes.
The Zionist land Thieves are attempting to triple their size by seizing Syria. They have succeeded in driving out millions of its people. Now, all they have to do is topple Assad. The next Land Grab on the Zionist agenda is Iraq. There, the country has been devastated by their American puppet servants. Saudi Arabia is just holding the Peninsula for their Masters. Netenyahoo can taste the gravy; in his lifetime… America will be nice for gambling and blood sports; no need to lobotomize its citizens (IQ-28). France for vacations, wine, mushrooms, and the Riviera.

Not that he’s not sharp,..
