Talking of spin, the ever despicable Guardian has this shabby piece of gutter-press sensationalism: What happens next in Aleppo will shape Europe’s future by Natalie Nougayrède
“Russia’s strategic objectives go much further, however. Putin wants to reassert Russian power in the Middle East, but it is Europe that he really has in mind”
Surprisingly there’s no mention of barrel bombs; instead the obligatory mention of chemical weapons:
“when Barack Obama gave up on airstrikes against Assad’s military bases after chemical weapons were used”
More non-seqiturs than you can shake a stick at, but understand this -if Aleppo falls to Putin then Europe is next. Be very afraid.
Interesting discussion as usual but the spot on the BBC propaganda film overlooked one essential political point. Britain is about to take a decision to replace the Trident nuclear missile system at massive expense when the public are being subjected to austerity policies by the Conservative government of David Cameron. The real propaganda aim is that hard cash needs to be spent to maintain the status quo of nuclear deterrence. Not to soften up the British public for a war on Russia. I very much doubt my fellow Brits are up for that though David Cameron may like to think he could persuade them otherwise.
A very good point, and I think you may be right there. I also think they “hope” for a “twofer” with it though. Feed the Russophobia as well,”and” make it easier to scare the British public into coughing up the money for more aggressive weaponry.

In the Cross Talk introductory jungle of voices, if you listen carefully you will hear “I love you” jump out from the tangle of noise. That’s the spark that will set fire to the whole lying house of card spinners, particularly love of truth.

Love is the straight arrow’s point. Get the point?
Is it that Saker really has big trouble getting readership of his site, when it allows this type of “material” printed … or is it merely the usual “T.R.” juvenile’s doing?…
This was a very good program. Thank you, Saker, for publishing it here where I can most easily watch a smooth version, as I have just done for the second time. Particularly interesting were the comments from the French citizen, but in the fast paced analysis of many critical areas the show covered a lot of ground. Bravo to them all.
I was reminded of the debt we all owe the Saker for his earliest analyses of the Ukrainian crisis and presentation of critical videos as the horrors of it unfolded and are unfolding today. I really think a Pulitzer is due for all of that.
Blessings on all who post with information about these ongoing crises.
