Note by the Saker: interesting interview with Abby Martin, I highly recommend it. Please try to set aside the typical Leftist clichés and language and just listen about what she experienced while visiting Palestine for the first time. I wanted to share this video with you because Abby’s experience exactly mirrors mine. Except that I was even more clueless than her when I set foot in Israel for the first time. Being the loyal little Cold Warrior and Right-winger that I was, I sincerely believed that Israel was a land of heroic refugees surrounded by Arab terrorists (yeah, I was that dumb. I was also 19 years old…). It took me exactly one week to change my views by a full 180 degrees. I saw everything Abby describes, or things very similar, with my own eyes. That was true in 1982 and it remains true in 2017. Imagine putting up with THIRTY FIVE YEARS of that kind of oppression! And now try ti imagine living through SEVENTY YEARS of this and you will get a sense, of what it is to be a Palestinian. In truth, none of us, not even Abby or myself, can imagine any of that since we are not Palestinians and we never lived this nightmare, we only visited this place.
Abby says that which others never do. Please set aside her silly aspects and take in the reality she describes. It is all true, 100% true.
The Saker
Yeah but, does she still think Russia invaded the Ukraine?
Palestine is a safe, pet issue that allows her to never utter the word Michigan or Kiev. Not brave at all.
In response to the disgraceful resignation on camera of another anchor, probably well paid by the CIA, Abby said that she was staying on RT and hoped for peaceful resolution, no word of invasion.
Yeah, but I think she’s around by now since the renewed colour revolution attempt in Venezuela. She’s saying about Venezuela what she should have been saying about Ukraine in 2014.
Hey guys,
Its about Palestine, get it?
Not about what Abby said in a single sentence about Ukraine, Elvis or Burgers several years ago.
I’m also very curious if Abby managed to change her views in regards to Ukraine.
The CIA/Mossad team was so open about their dealings in Ukraine…They were practically bragging about it all over the place. Somebody like Abby should’ve picked on some of those giant clues.
Thank you, Saker. This is an utterly astonishing video. Abby Martin is doing a great service here.
I note the first two comments here are attacking the messenger…
I totally agree with everything she said in this interview. I think she is a very dedicated researcher with a lot of passion. My point was only in regards to her previous statements about Russian “invasion” of Ukraine. All of that to say, it was definitely not an attack on my part.
My apologies. No slight intended. I just wondered if I was seeing a reaction from Israel – I see that I wasn’t.
I don’t know her well enough to know her mind set. I did note Saker’s warnings to ignore any of her silly aspects, but like you I didn’t see any whatsoever.
We do live in an age in which the curtain is falling to shreds so rapidly that things we thought and said just a few years ago are now completely overturned by what we now see and understand. I think this must be true of many people.
And the most clear thing of all is that all the general labels that used to describe belief systems and affiliations no longer work. We have to treat issues and people on a case by case basis, day by day.
The old saying is true, that politics makes strange bedfellows, where opponents on one issue become allies on another. Apparently life itself is the same.
I feel angry about Saker calling her silly, that’s disrespectful and Abby does not deserve it. Her Empire Files research is great.
Oh, I am so so so sorry I hurt your feelings!!
Now cry me a river :-P
Seriously now,
I like Martin, my only serious beef with her is here 180 on 911. But besides that, I just notice her constant cursing and generally “I am an in your face Lefist” attitude with I find sophomoric and unhelpful. But I like her and her Empire Files are mostly superb, I agree.
But that this would get you “angry” is infantile. Grow up!
Cheers,
The Saker
She did an podcast interview for Counterpunch the other day. She had some interesting insights but every other word was an Fbomb. I’m not sure why she does that.
Hi Grieved. The first two commenters are referring to the following video:

I think many were shocked and annoyed by this statement. Have a great weekend.
The Balfour declaration, stating British support for a Jewish state in Palestine, was made in exchange for Zionist help to influence the U.S. to enter WWI on the British side. The British felt the Zionists had played an important role in involving the U.S. in WWI and they honored the declaration. I think Israel is basically Europe’s latest crusade against the Middle East.
Finally : Comrade Stalin is back !

I as a Russian was guided to this website. But what I see here is either not even related to Russia or if, then quite pro RF and therefore pro American-made colony of RF, which makes it not only Anti-Soviet but equally as Anti-Russian.
Get a glimpse.
On a tour-group trip to Russia in July 2014, just when relations with the U.S. were getting bad publicly, three separate small groups of two or three ordinary Russians, in Moscow, Suzdal in the Golden Ring, and St. Petersburg, after they saw I could speak Russian fairly well, all said the same thing, almost like a mantra (in English): “Stalin no doubt did bad things, but he beat the Germans and freed the Church.” That seemed to be the prevailing opinion at the time. (I’d learned Russian in the Army 50 years before, kept up my reading, and had taken refresher courses before my trip. Russians said I had an old-fashions, almost pre-revolutionary accent. Our instructors at Army Language School were by and largely children off Whites, although we had a defector Soviet General, Grigorenko, there also.)
I’d guess Grover Furr’s analysis, published in Russian with Bobrov, may be changing the Russian outlook toward Stalin also. Also the revelation from secret Soviet archives (cited improbably in the Dec. 2016 National Geographic) that the total Soviet executions during the Stalin years was 1.2 million, about 700K of them during the Yezhovshchina, a small fraction of the 20 to 60 million Robert Conquest claimed, and Solzhenitsyn repeated.
I think this blog initially mostly discussed Middle East issues and then added Russia/Ukraine as a topic after the U.S. coup there.
I am puzzled by your comment that this blog is “…therefore pro American-made colony of RF”. I don’t understand your argument.
I know the U.S. pushed destructive policies on Russia in the 1990’s. What i don’t understand is where the Saker is guilty of supporting this. On the contrary, this blog has been very critical of what happened.
I don’t speak Russian and was unable to follow your link.
Ай, Моська…
Why the world does not condemn the nearly 70 years of Zionist atrocities against the Palestinian people is inconceivable to me. It’s like watching newsreels of Nazi Germany’s heinous barbarity and persecution of Jews, Gypsies, Poles, Soviet prisoners of war and every other category of peoples who did not fit Hitler’s vision of a superior race.
The Israeli government is an abomination of any sense of a political structure based upon equal justice, not only for the 20 percent of its own citizens who are Arabs but the occupation of an indigenous population who are denied basic human rights.
We have an IDF soldier who executes a wounded Palestinian lying on the ground with a kill shot to the head.
See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOQTT5AaJKo .
Did this criminal receive a life sentence as punishment? Of course not. An Israeli court gives him 18 months for premeditated manslaughter and Prime Minister Netanyahu wants to pardon him.
Israel has built a physical wall in the West Bank than will span an estimated 400 miles in length, further evidence of illegally claiming Palestinian land and creating an apartheid State in Palestine.
See: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/12/world/un-estimates-israeli-barrier-will-disrupt-lives-of-600000.html .
The only option for the Palestinian people is to revolt against Mahmoud Abbas’s government in the West Bank that curries favor with Israel and allows him to stay in power. Palestine must find a way to bring Gaza and the West Bank together politically and form a new government that speaks with one voice for the people.
I don’t think Joe Rogan will be able to re-enter the msm after this. It’s a pity because he was great sportscaster commenting on MMA fights. Looks like Joe will be stuck doing his podcast for longer than he would like.
Zion doesn’t mind its assets like Joe Rogan or Abbie Martin criticizing Israel’s Palestine policy. On the contrary, it’s part of the script. Remember, the ‘bad guys’ in puppet shows and Hollywood movies are are payed by the the same production company as the good guys.
Trouble only starts, when goys start criticizing Israel…
That would be a very very smart move by Joe Rogan to preserve his status quo….no reason at all for him to return to MSM…his podcast is doing incredibly well..
Great interview…I was not a huge Abby Martin fan, thought she played up her looks on RT way too much in the past..but clearly she went all out to learn abut these issues….very impressive…good on her…my skepticism is gone.
The entire existence of the Jewish State of Israel is illegal and a crime against humanity.
It is a colony of White originally European Zionist Jews who have taken over this land with the help of British occupying scum and set up a crusader like state.
However more it will expand and become more powerful, and whatever the state is of the Arabs and Muslims living in the region……Arabs and Muslims will keep fighting them in one form or another until the end of time if necessary.
The White European crusader scum occupied parts of the Holy-lands for several hundred years until we kicked them out…..70, 100, 200 years is peanuts on the historical scale.
The rest of the cowardly corrupt world watching and recognizing this crime against humanity has no shame or morals. They all deserve what is coming for them.
Yeah, I got stoned in Israel in 1979. Not figuratively, I mean literally stoned by jews for traveling to Lod airport to catch a flight that happened to be on Yom Kippur. You do NOT travel in Israel on the evening before Yom Kippur. It was very hairy indeed. I hitch-hiked and the woman driving me got her car smashed up pretty badly. We really dodged a bullet there. She was extremely brave to have picked me up. Very secular, I guess. I am very grateful, it could have been much worse if I was alone or if she didn’t put her foot on the gas.
Next time you see a cheap flight to or from Israel, check whether it is on Yom Kippur. Or better, don’t go. I’d absolutely never go there now.
Whenever I hear the whining about sharia law and stoning I often think of this incident. I can assure you that sharia muslims absolutely do not have the monopoly on stoning people nor do they have a lock on medieval theocracies – far from it.
Regards, Shyaku.
“Jewish History, Jewish Religion” by the late Israel Shahak has even crazier stories about Orthodox Judaism. The author begins the book with the story of how he became interested in this subject. He witnessed a Palestinian man having a seizure in Jerusalem and went to a Jewish home and asked to use their phone to call an ambulance. The homeowner denied this request, saying that phones could not be used on the Sabbath to save the life of a gentile. So Shahak writes Israel’s rabbinical council, asking their opinion on this question. They agree with the homeowner; the phone should not be used unless doing so endangers the life of a Jew by making gentiles angry. This book is mostly anecdotal.
Fantastic artice by William Engdahl. Must read, folks.
Clashes? No, just a few stones being thrown. Just enough for smooth divide & conquer.
By the way, ZeroHedge has become one of the worst divide & conquer NLP sites. Mossad couldn’t do better.
“Just a few stones”?
Ok, let’s see. What I get is more than that:

This is very revealing and worse than I thought, even though I’ve been following this issue for many years. Just shows there’s no substitute for actually seeing for yourself.
btw Saker, I didn’t hear any loony left sentiments, just a person outraged and amazed at what she saw, so I’m not sure what that caveat was about.
Great interview.
Her history of Sykes-Picot and the Ottoman Empire is all screwed up.
Wish she had got that sorted out for herself before she started.
Not understanding the history weakens her presentation and also the value of the video as an educational wake-up call.
Still, 70% of the video is incredible.
Thanks for posting.
Katherine
How awesome that was. She like most Americans (and others) doesn’t get her history “totally” right. But she is able to understand the results of what happened. And she was very brave to expose the Israeli crimes. Its almost certain she will be attacked over that (maybe Rogan too). You don’t criticize Israel “ever” , without paying a price for it. Which is one of the main ways they stifle dissent in the World.
Saker, you’ve been misled.
https://youtu.be/TdWKcdmVJ8g
Don’t worry, I was misled as well.
Jonas, please stop repeating the same comment several times. The others have gone to trash. Mod
No, not in Australia Abby. We don’t deserve that either.
Thank you Saker, for bringing this incredibly, brutally honest description of one person’s experience, to your little oasis of ‘clean’ intelligence.
Thank you Abby Martin for the honesty and the courage to go public on you experience.
I find nothing silly about Abby Martin, yes I heard her comments on Crimea at the beginning of the whola affair, when she was still at RT, and the other anchor resigned on camera after saying that her partner was American and she chose to remain an American, Stupid thing to say as there are Americans like wonderful Anissa Naouai, (probably of Palestinian origin) and Abby Martin, and many others who don’t buy the ZOG narrative and are therefore unamerican.
By the way my son used to be friends with Michael Prysner, Abby’s present partner, and he is indeed a leftist, Stalinist. I hosted him in my house and had conversations with him about his service in Iraq. I am a Russian expat and live in USA, behind enemy lines. I don’t find anything silly about being a Socialist like Mike and Abby ( Attacks removed. Don’t attack if you want your comments posted. I just edited this one because it had some interesting information attached. But the others went to Saker for review.MOD).
What about the S, is it still there and to what extent is it important?
The I was always rather a strange bedfellow with the other three, B, R and C. It is not as though India’s nehruvian flirtation with socialism, her affinity towards the USSR and her central role in the NAM are only recently abandoned. The Indian state has globalising, waging a war against her poorest, experimenting with neoliberal reform for a long time, at least 20 yrs, coupled with a rising tide of hindutva ideology. The rot had set in much earlier, even at the height of the NAM period, with the green revolution. Nevertheless, the R and the C were entirely right, nevertheless, to encourage the sense of belonging and clubbiness in the BRIC meme.
Boris, about the S…
At one level (the economic), the S is utterly insignificant. South Africa was always a token gesture, to give the African continent a face at the table. However, that choice made no sense economically, demographically, geopolitically (well, the latter only marginally, in terms of Good Hope’s insurance against Suez). But in terms of the economy and her population, SA is a tiny silvery minnow to the gargantuan whale shark of Nigeria and the enormous giant squid of Egypt.
Look at population alone:
SA long-term stable, 1990 44M 2017 54M [2045 65m]
Nigerian 1990 80M 2017 200M [2045 300M]
Nigeria currently 7th most populated country in the world, projected push USA off Bronze Medal position before 2050.
Even “BRIC Man” Jim O’Neill professed (at the Durban Summit) that he could see no sense in SA being at that table, so insignificant was she on the global scale. Mexico, Indonesia, South/United Korea, Turkey and several other countries were far ahead of SA and likelier fifth members.
At another level, the S, like the I, represents something of a Evil Empire/Globalist trojan horse into the BRICS. Just how thoroughly yoked SA is to the USA plough is an under-explored topic.
So Abbey got some education. Hoopti Doooo. This crap has been know (for anyone that bothered to be interested) for decades. End result, US still supports this Crime State needed by the Jews to hide in and plot their strategies of holding on to power. No extradition allowed in this Crime State. You can shoot point blank a tied up Palestinian and nothing will happen. Revers that situation and see what would happen.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/mar/24/israeli-soldier-filmed-shoot-dead-wounded-palestinian-attacker-hebron
I’m sorry, but WTF?
Abby couldn’t figure out why early Zionists had an interest in historical Palestine. In her Empire Files documentary, she states that the goal of early Zionism was to establish an exclusively Jewish state *anywhere*. I guess the word “Zion” means “anywhere”. LOL
I posted a similar version of the above comment in response to her video on Facebook, and she promptly removed it and blocked me. It’s no small wonder that 100% of the comments on her videos are in favor of her work. It’s quite shameful, and it exposes a huge insecurity she must have, especially since half of her “facts” were completely false or unsupported, and she knows it. Even Al Jazeera doesn’t do that.
Aside from the misunderstanding of the basic principles of Zionism, she states that Palestinians cannot wave flags (but she’s been to Ramallah, so I don’t understand), cannot belong to political parties (so no membership to Hamas or Fatah, right?), get shot for attending funerals (these usually end up turning into revengeful riots), cannot pray at the most holy site — the Dome of the Rock (no mention of the al-Aqsa mosque), that Hamas was a direct result of the expulsion of Palestinians in 1948 (even though it came into existence in 1987), that Israelis are indoctrinated at birth to hate Arabs (but never the other way around, right? Ever watch Israeli and Palestinian TV side-by-side?)…I could go on and on. Fast-forward to 20:15 and just be prepared to laugh your ass off. Put Israel in the middle of Australia?? Ottoman colonization of Palestine in the 1900s??? UN partitioning of a country on top of another country???
And Rogan…… he literally eats up all of her nonsense about the region as if it is fact. At least he had the decency to explain that he didn’t know much about the region. It’s a shame that he never once challenged her views. Unfortunately, many others will watch her interview and documentaries, sop it all up as fact, spread and act upon it….. in the end, Israel will respond accordingly, and you won’t like it.
All of this having been said, I do not support the occupation, and I have always been an advocate for a two-state solution. What’s happening to the average Palestinian is abhorrent, but we need to get our facts straight before we start spreading them. Diversity your sources when researching this topic, please.
I was in Palestine in the early 2000. The situation in Gaga was horrible with bombings of private homes next to my apartment, children shot for throwing stones at Israeli soldiers and so many human rights violations that I observed and that traumatized me and those with me. This was before Hamas. Checkpoints were threatening even for YS passport holders. Leaving at Tel Aviv airport, three US citizens were detained, searched, our notes, cameras and recorders were confiscated and the flight delayed by all these searches. We were leaving the country, educators who were working with disabled children, a real threat. Tragic, so tragic for all involved. Americans don’t have a clue as to what the truth of Israel and Palestine really is. Please keep an open message me and learn, learn the facts on the ground.
Extremely eye opening! This interview needs to be shared everywhere
