As we can see increasing share of renewable energy cannot block the rise of prices at all. We can actually ask are they doing the opposite. Interesting that even French nuclear energy can’t secure their situation (France has had technical issues with several nuclear plants) .
Since Q1 things have gone even much worse. The real problem started in May 2022 (EU-gas – ruble-LNG) and in July 2022 electricity prices have been very near the Dec 2021 record level. Actually Feb and March were even with rising prices not so dramatic as what happened after early days of May.
One thing should not be forgotten. Electricity prices jumped in new higher level even as early as in June 2021. So these issues have its roots much earlier that in Jan 2022 and Ukrainea. In July 2022 electricity market prices in most European countries have been around 10 times higher than in July 2020.
There has been rather significiant change where energy consumpion nowadays is concentrated. In 1990 the numbers estimated:
