He is contained. But he was the host of the meeting. Thus, the center position.
Away from the cameras, he was begging more Russian help and hoping for Iranian help to contain the Kurds in Iraq and Syria.
He needs allies. Qatar is of no help against the intentions of the Hegemon.
He’s been making the case that Gulen was behind the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey.
This to placate Russia, and to give the US a bargaining chip—deliver over Gulen to Erdogan and he won’t misbehave within NATO.
Clever snake that Sultan. But absolutely no one trusts him.
What he heard from Putin and Rohani was Syria’s borders are the 2011 borders, not some present configuration where his army, Kurds, US and others are trying to establish.
And, his friends in Idlib are going to die soon. Accept that reality. Place your tanks and troops as anvil at the border so hammer of the Russian Aerospace and SAA can crush the radicals terrorists of every persuasion in one final battle. That’s his last proxy group in Syria. There is no more evacuations for these Muslim Brotherhood progeny. Al Nusra, the Uyghurs, ISIS, et all are in their final boiler.
What we have here is reality. According to analysts, Iran is months away from joining the Eurasian Economic Union. As for Turkey, it now has a simple choice. Stay in NATO, and be dragged into a NATO sponsored war against Iran, or turn to Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union.
That US instigated coup d’etat against Erdogan was an incredibly foolish move. Not only did it fail, as it was both poorly planned and based on wishful thinking, it turned both Erdogan and the Turks towards the East. In politics anything is possible. However, I think it is only a matter of time before Turkey leaves NATO, which will start a chain reaction inside the Alliance. According to analysts, Germany would then be the next logical candidate to leave NATO. I can see the US trying to prevent Germany from leaving, as it has troops in the country. However, how is the US going to prevent Turkey from leaving ? By starting a dual war against Iran and Turkey at the same time ? I think not.
Erdogan in the middle???
I wonder if this means “Erdie, watch it! We have you contained!” ?

Pretty cool anatomy lesson there.
