Time after time this female woman of color, who has been literally erased from the Presidential race proves that she is the only candidate qualified to be President.

    • Anonymous on March 12, 2020  ·  at 11:09 pm EST/EDT

With all due respect, why is color so important to you…

      • Blue Dotterel on March 13, 2020  ·  at 2:29 am EST/EDT

I believe this is mentioned largely because the “liberals” often claim this is what they want as US president. It is rather ironic that Gabbard represents what the “liberals” are clamouring for, but is ignored by those very “liberals”

        • William H Warrick III MD on March 13, 2020  ·  at 8:34 am EST/EDT

          I’m not a liberal.

        • coupe 63 on March 13, 2020  ·  at 5:51 pm EST/EDT

I don’t believe Tulsi is considered a” Liberal” I would call her a patriot if anything! maybe a second listen would help!

      • William H Warrick III MD on March 13, 2020  ·  at 8:32 am EST/EDT

It’s not just me and the reasons are a list too long to go into but you could start with the fact that the White House was built by slaves, Hawaii was Colonized and Lynching. It’s also means a lot to a lot more people than just me.

      • Monte George Jr. on March 13, 2020  ·  at 8:14 pm EST/EDT

Agreed. We need to jettison this destructive notion that being a “person of color” or “female” etc. conveys some special virtue that enhances a person’s fitness for or entitlement to public office, or any other job. Tulsi doesn’t need this – she towers over the rest of the political field on her own merits.

      • Andrew S MacGregor on March 14, 2020  ·  at 8:50 am EST/EDT

Colour is extremely important. I realised that as a teenager whilst sunbaking at the local swimming pool. Ten minutes in the sun and I started looking like a cooked lobster whilst my twin brother went a lovely chocolate brown, I realised quickly that for my children, they should have that bit of protection that the darker skin offers, and besides my older blonde sister was a dominating female, and thus I was put off blondes,

And then one day in Tokyo, I was chatting with a negress and mentioned the sun-burning problem and she deflated me. They can apparently get sunburnt just as much as a bald-headed old bloke can.

But in reality I would think that Billy boy was describing Tulsi just as she is, and there should never be a problem with that. And I think I did solve my problem. I’m told my youngest son Malcolm, looks a lot like Wil Smith, and he can play Lacrosse. Me? All I can do is play bagpipes and toss a caber.

It is a sad commentary on the US that the only sane person in the race gets less than 1% of the vote.

    • Blue Dotterel on March 13, 2020  ·  at 2:34 am EST/EDT

Hardly a surprise when few people know she is running. Still, USAians do have a problem digesting new ideas, possibly because they rarely get to hear and debate them.

    • Tom Welsh on March 13, 2020  ·  at 9:31 am EST/EDT

“The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality. But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.
The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron”.

      – H. L. Mencken (Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920)

H.G. Wells’ brilliantly perceptive short story “The Country of the Blind” is relevant too. http://www.online-literature.com/wellshg/3/

Spoiler: In the country of the blind, the one-eyed man is NOT king. On the contrary, a man with perfect vision in both eyes is arrested and has his eyes forcibly removed, because they are obviously causing a psychotic belief in an extra sense that everyone knows cannot exist.

  3. Michael Droy on March 12, 2020  ·  at 7:34 pm EST/EDT

She is hoping to get slaughtered as a pro-Russia candidate. It seems the only way she is going to get any publicity at all.

    • Tom Welsh on March 13, 2020  ·  at 9:45 am EST/EDT

In a way she is serving as a superb witness for the prosecution. In future, when it all goes down in ruins, people will ask “What did we do wrong?”

And the answer will be that God sent them a prophet, who told them in simple language what they had done wrong and how they needed to change.

And they scoffed at her, and ignored her.

Congress Fails to Reform FISA & Patriot Act

The title should just read: Congress fails.

That is all that can be said.

This woman has the common sense to lead but the rot in dc and wall street will never let her get a chance.

  5. Ed on March 13, 2020  ·  at 12:23 am EST/EDT

Apologies to my fellow horny geezers but, ahem: Tulsi is a charlatan. She says all the right things, as does Bernie, but she’ll never hold ground in a fight. Never advance the flag. Tulsi is Bernie 2.0; guardian of The Discontents.
A true rebel wouldn’t drone on about it being “unfortunate” that lewd Congress extended fisa and Patriot. The person who can make a change would broadcast a call to action. Tulsi gives us (a) head shot and a campaign video package.
Bernie 2.0. Remember where you heard it first.

    • Blue Dotterel on March 13, 2020  ·  at 2:31 am EST/EDT

This is very possible, but “Americans” need to hear and debate what she says. The problem is that they are not being allowed to hear it on a major ublic platform.

    • William H Warrick III MD on March 13, 2020  ·  at 8:38 am EST/EDT

      That’s Ludicrous.

      • Ed on March 19, 2020  ·  at 8:43 pm EST/EDT

        She just endorsed Biden.
        Case closed.

    • Tom Welsh on March 13, 2020  ·  at 9:33 am EST/EDT

She is a politician (and a soldier), not a revolutionary. If George Washington and his fellow rebels had faced one thousandth of the brute force the US government commands today, they would all have been blown to pieces and all of North America would be British.

  6. Hudson on March 13, 2020  ·  at 5:39 am EST/EDT

    Thanks for posting Tulsi Gabbard.

She is an outspoken critic of regime change wars, seeking to curtail the US war machine. Now she wants Congress to reject a permanent surveillance state and other unconstitutional infringements of personal liberty?

The rule governing participation in the next Democratic primary debate was changed to prevent the appearance of this gadfly.

  7. Aegir on March 13, 2020  ·  at 7:04 am EST/EDT

While TG says the right things, my opinion is that the USA is simply un-reformable. The very system of governance is built with a key feature: that of being massively corruptible. This is not an accident and can only get worse with time as major private interests consolidate via the very corruption that is defining this system.

To my mind, the only way out is the break-up of this country that has become like its mega-banks: “too big to fail”. The hubris of the USSan elites knows no bounds, and this goes in pair with the deep dumbing down of a large portion of the population (I have lived in the USA many years ago, and the state of decay was already immense).

What the international community should do to the USA is what people do with a rabid dog: put it out of its misery.

    • Anonymous on March 13, 2020  ·  at 8:02 am EST/EDT

I don’t see lots of pindos getting behind Tulsi and supporting her and her ideas. We know who she is, they have the same opportunity. Apparently what she stands for isn;t very popular there.

    • Tom Welsh on March 13, 2020  ·  at 9:42 am EST/EDT

It will sort itself out soon enough. To quote a joke I saw online recently:

Planet A: You’re looking out of sorts. What’s the matter?
Planet B: I’ve got homo sapiens.
Planet A: Oh, don’t worry! It’s nasty while it lasts, but it will soon pass.

The US empire will pass even sooner – just as soon as the giant Ponzi scheme collapses. Maybe this year.

  8. Tom Welsh on March 13, 2020  ·  at 9:40 am EST/EDT

Blah, blah, blah. Major Gabbard is obviously a decent person and an idealist. As such she will never be allowed to get the slightest traction in US politics.

She talks about the civil rights of US citizens, but does not seem to understand that the large majority really don’t care about civil rights – even their own.

As long as they have beer, pizza, and TV – plus, now, their inseparable electronic gadgets – they would never dream of defying the vast, terrible, pulverizing power of the US government and its armed forces.

“Human rights” are things that politicians love to talk about – and accuse other countries of denying to their people – but they are not anything that American politicians would ever willingly concede to the people. Laws like the Patriot and FISA acts will never be repealed because governments never willingly give up any power.

Sad but true. The “War on Civil Liberties” really got going via the “War on Drugs,” but after 9/11, the “War on Civil Liberties” exponentiated.

I have been watching this play out for decades now and most Americans simply don’t seem to care one bit.

Would it be possible to get the identifications of these legislations, ie. HR so-and-so or S. Res. so-and-so in order that I can find how my congress-people voted? I did not find anything satisfying searching ‘congress.gov’. If someone has these, please post. I would greatly appreciate it, although my senators and representative may not.

    that would be

Tulsi does it again today. She has the only real plan for Corona. Trump completely blew it back in January when his weak-willed HHS Secretary tried to warn him of the potential and now actual catastrophe. Kelly Conway said the threat was over blown and all Trump was worried about was getting re-elected so he went along with her and didn’t order test kits to be produced. No tests means no cases and no deaths. The MoA link is here:

    https://www.moonofalabama.org/2020/03/news-nugget-about-the-coronavirus-pandemic.html#more

Trump was warned 6 weeks ago and did nothing, meanwhile the virus percolated into the US population with every infected person, an Unknown # X, infecting 2-3 others on average producing 2.5X new cases. This progression has gone on for 6 weeks. The mathematicians among you can calculate the result over 6 weeks. The # now is some # X Million current infected persons. Pretty soon that # will be XY Million Infected persons. Trumps Brain says “Don’t get a test unless you have symptoms”. China and SK on the other hand had Drive-by testing, quarantined those infected for 2 weeks, found all the really sick ones and hospitalized them and now their new cases are decreasing.Joe Rogan has an excellent interview with an ID Specialist from the University of Minnesota who has been studying new virus outbreaks for over 20 years which is a must watch.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3URhJx0NSw

Trump is now s&$ting bricks because he didn’t listen. Now the Economy is imploding, the Frackers are imploding which could collapse the Derivative Ponzi Pyramid the Stock Market is crashing Boeing is going to go Belly up, and the whole Country is shuttling down. The Media advertising revenue is disappearing because the Sports Media Complex has collapsed and on top of that their preferred choice for President has Alzheimer’s Disease that is transitioning from Stage 1 to Stage 2. Yes this is the Perfect Storm, but the best Presidential candidate has just suggested the off ramp. She has introduced a plan for a Universal Basic Income, a moratorium on Foreclosures, evictions and Public Utility Shutoffs, Drive-by testing, and facilities for treating infected persons. Naturally Congress is rejecting it just like all the other sensible Bills that she has introduced in the House. As usual Tulsi comes to the Rescue because she is the only Candidate left in the Race qualified to be President and CiC. Even if it was passed, Trump would veto it because he doesn’t want people to be tested. I have given up on the Presidential Race because the DNC is determined to nominate Biden who will pick Hillary or Michelle oBOMBa VP and resign after the Election which under current circumstances he would win.

  12. Ovaltine on March 14, 2020  ·  at 9:57 am EST/EDT

It’s hopeless, Tulsi. Your fellow Americans have been dumbed down, out of contact with all logic.

  13. William H Warrick III MD on March 17, 2020  ·  at 10:58 pm EST/EDT

Tulsi’s UBI Bill is most likely going to pass because Trump will support because he wants to get re-elected but his likely opponent will be Michelle oBOMBa. He may even bring us M4A because he may support M4A.

  14. The Highwayman on March 22, 2020  ·  at 9:38 am EST/EDT

Pity Tulsi withdrew from Presidential race.
    But has she ?

Could she (and Bernie) be planning to run as Independent Democrat Presidential Candidate ?

She is not re-running for Congress and she has little chance under the current DNC to run again so that is the rationale. Upsetting the Nov Election bleeding votes of whoever the DNC picks could force a shake-up of the DEMs for 2024 and beyond as that what they need to clean out the rats in the woodpile.

Suspect the DNC is positioning Biden there simply so they can slip in someone else at the late stage – I wonder who that could be ?

    • MC on March 22, 2020  ·  at 10:50 am EST/EDT

Oh, this is a good idea. If it is not what is happening, it should be. She must not be wasted.
