Three of hundreds who fell. Real smiles and life-filled eyes, smiles, a gentility to them all.

War is cruel. It takes the finest first.

Such insanity mankind is capable of.

In behalf of a satanic idea to destroy Russia.

These were the vanguard sentinels protecting their homes and family and Mother Russia.

Exactly, brave heroes defending their people and motherland from fascist aggression.Every single life lost is a tragedy.Whether from our side, heroes. And also from the brainwashed and conscripted soldiers on the other side.Civil wars are the most horrible of all. They do more than pit “us against them”,they pit “us against us”.And leaves a lasting hatred for generations. In some cases it never can be overcome without a through re-education effort after the war.

OT. In Syria but the same war.

ISIS and AQ must be doing it tough because the US will now give them direct air support against Syrian government forces.

And an article here from Reuters on US using air strikes against Assad forces.

    http://news.yahoo.com/u-defend-syrian-rebels-airpower-including-assad-015955787.html
The United States has decided to allow airstrikes to defend Syrian rebels trained by the U.S. military from any attackers, even if the enemies hail from forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, U.S. officials said on Sunday.

Syria needs a good supply of S-300s or better. And Pantsirs.

    • SickofIt on August 03, 2015  ·  at 10:58 am EST/EDT

      S-300 ?
They will get food cans instead.
Russia most likely will back down to avoid WW3.
But they will have it anyway unless they surrender.
The delay tactic works here against Russia.
You have to be blind to not to see that Anglos are screaming for war.

I’m not giving up however I’m getting tired – I hear Ukraine collapse imminent and here we go … etc …

      • Anonymous on August 03, 2015  ·  at 12:46 pm EST/EDT

        Exactly!

As Paul Craig Roberts just posted on his website: Russia would do better to talk less and act more.

I remember when the Ukrainian crisis started… Saker and guys like Orlov told us Russians don’t talk they act.

Well, it’s been almost two years and in those two years they’ve shown us they do the opposite. All they do is talk. Things like, our partners better watch out or else…. but nothing ever happens. Oh yeah… they may ban lollipops imports from Belgium next, or something like that… that’ll show the Americans.

In the meantime, top U.S. officials haven’t talked much, but boy have they acted:
        -sanctions
        -crushed oil prices
        -financed the Ukrainian government
        -trained and equipped Ukrainian forces
-pulled the rug from under Russia in Cuba and Iran
        -put Assad on his heels
        -prevented south stream
        -prevented Greek stream
-working actively to make sure the World Cup will not be held in Russia (given all that’s happened, I’m sure they will succeed)
        -stopped the Mistral contracts
-sent the ruble into a spiral
        -and on and on

Russia is in a much worse situation than 2 years ago.

To get back to Syria… Assad is a dead man walking. Just like for Kadhafi or Saddam, Russia will not lift a finger.
I’m sure the Chinese are taking note how reliable Russia is as a partner.

        • RoyceRoyal on August 03, 2015  ·  at 2:45 pm EST/EDT

Troll Trash. Smoke this: Crimea is Russian, worth a trillion dollars. Donbass is Russian, Odessa and Kharkov to follow. The Russian economy is not running on a deficit of trillions of dollars. The Minstrel is history, with refund and aquired tech. Cuba, Iran and Syria know who their enemies are. EU cannot survive without Russian oil and gas. The UKies are dead broke, west will not subsidize after looting. Ruble more stable than the buck. World Cup will be in Russia. Sanctions cut deeper west than east. Russia does not even have to “lift a finger” just give it.

          • Red Ryder on August 03, 2015  ·  at 3:33 pm EST/EDT

Mistral was a Medvedev tribute deal to the French. A mistake the military didn’t want. He made the decision like he decide to allow the NoFly Zone over Libya. Because he was a clueless Liberal aHole.

And the damage done by the West to Russia would be 100 times worse if Putin and Lavrov had not outsmarted them over and over, with Syria (why has it taken Iran and Hezbollah so long to fully commit?).

Moving S300s around like AK ammo is unrealistic. They change the balance of everything. That’s not a strategy.

Russia has a strategic need for the naval base in Syria and will protect it. ISIS arose in Iraq and that should have been where Iran acted. It’s one year later and they still have not made the full commitment to defeat it. Blame Iran first.

            • Alieu on August 21, 2015  ·  at 7:04 pm EST/EDT

If Iran and Hezbollah sent solders to Syria it would only play into the hands of their enemies that the “Syrian people” are fighting against a Shia tyranny supported from outside. This is rubbish, of course, which is why Syria has not needed help from outside whereas the “rebels” have depended on foreign support from the very beginning and have no chance of victory without NATO bombing Syria for them.

          • SickofIt on August 03, 2015  ·  at 3:34 pm EST/EDT

Syria must not be destroyed by US in defiance of Russia.
if they do, some small countries like Venezuela might submit to US as a result
Russia might end up alone with few neighbors only.

    Dear The Saker,

    http://tass.ru/en/world/812210

Ukraine’s former prime minister Azarov announces establishing Ukraine Salvation Committee. RT showed the whole press conference but its not on their website at the moment. Looks like those Ukrainians in exile who love their country have had enough of its destruction. In the press conference these guys didn’t mince their words! US/Nuland won’t be happy…..

    http://tass.ru/en/world/812232

Porkie came in for a real bashing. Hope the Ukrainian people see this.

    Rgds,

Business opportunity in Ukraine – sell balaclava masks to frightening young men…here the Right Sector nazi youth attack the Party of Regions in Kharkiv:

        1. The video is quite revealing.

Note: the Police standing around; they appeared quite intimidated. Most of the police were carrying water bottles, or soda bottles; they looked demoralized, as if ordered to do nothing.

The Kharkiv police were completely unprepared to do anything useful, such as – ‘keeping the peace’ (as we say in America). They appeared unarmed (not even clubs or protective shields).

The Nazi attackers completely disregarded the police presence.

        2. Anonymous’ comments on Paul Craig Roberts’ comments (above), are quite difficult to reply to. If it was easy to resist the imperialists, The Saker would be the managing editor of the “New York Times”.

        • Uncle Bob 1 on August 03, 2015  ·  at 10:31 pm EST/EDT

The police are useless there.I keep hoping those thugs in the riot will join up with the “volunteers” so they can be eliminated by NAF fighters. After, when the “reckoning” comes the survivors of those gangs will need to be put to work repairing building and streets they’ve damaged. At least those not sent to the wall instead.

Difficult to accept such loses. Brave young men defending their families from deranged, misguided fools from Kiev. The sacrifices are not in vain, the pendulum now gains momentum, good innocent blood will be avenged, scales of justice will be balanced, what was sown in Kiev will be reaped in Kiev.

re: Music and fortitude: Thanks. a good song like an effective picture is worth 1,000 words of rhetoric. Everyone who writes on this site needs to do something to stand up against the hydra that is the Hegemon or whatever one wants to call it. It is everywhere including Norway, Iceland etc. Am passing on Countetpunch’s article on the importance of Sandra Bland ( Afro American woman who was killed for an illegal lane change—half the town I live in would have a ticket if that were a usual practice) to my friends with a stickler, ” Sandra Bland–you will not be forgotten”. It is a revolutionary act these days to actively witness the suffering of others and to remember it and to speak especially among the complacent who neither want to see or hear.
