The bad news is that I am still sick. The good news is that today I had a good laugh. In Saint Petersburg, members of the political party PVO or “Party of Great Russia” (I would describe them as “Stalinist patriots”) have offered the US Consulate a Russian “karavai” (kind of traditional bread given to newly weds and to welcome friends) with the words “thanks to the USA for Crimea”. The reason for this gratitude comes for the popular joke in Russia nowadays that “the US paid five billion dollars to have Russia take back Crimea”. It goes like this:
Thanks USA! |
“Israeli President Peres asks the Russian President: -Vladimir, are you of Jewish ancestry? -Putin: What makes you think so, Shimon? -Peres: You made the US pay five billion dollars to deliver Crimea to Russia. Even for a Jew, that is audacious!“
There is much truth to this: it is a fact that only the rabid Fascism of the US-supported Right Sector, Freedom Party or Yulia “Nuke Russians” Timoshenko could trigger the awakening of Russian national identity both in Russia and the Ukraine. I myself, only a few months ago, wrote that “Russian speakers in the Ukraine are not pro-Russian, they are pro-Ruble”, now this has dramatically changed and the credit for this really belongs to Obama and his hysterically Russophobic policies.
Sometimes it take as strong slap in the face to wake up somebody who is in a deep coma and that is what the USA did for millions of Russian people, especially the youth and there is a vast consensus amongst Russians that the US/NATO/EU achieved this by backing armed Nazi nationalists against a legitimate (if corrupt) regime and against the democratic will of most people not to live in a thug-controlled “Banderastan”.
Here is some footage of the members of PVO expressing their gratitude to US diplomats:
Anyway,
I just want to let you know that I know I owe many of you emails and I will reply as soon as possible. For the time being, it looks like I will spend the next 24 hours in bed.
Kind regards and thanks for your understanding and kind wishes,
The Saker
PS: while lying in bed, I am still thinking and I am pretty sure that I have an interesting topic to submit to your attention as soon as I feel better. Stay tuned :-)
I hope you can touch the topic on the opposition groups within the Russian Federation from this point on. The popularity of Vladimir Putin is in excellent standing and the momentum is ripe to put these groups, political and otherwise, in evidence in all regions of Russia with emphasis in big cities. I have seen former US Ambassador McFaul giving very bitter statements about Putin in the mainstream media and sending messages to his NGO’s soldiers left behind in Russia.
Good to hear you’re recovering from that flu. Laughing is healthy sign.
What do you know about Andrej Illarionov ? He’s been getting some press lately with some sort of dark warnings that Putin has plans to invade Finland or something. I ran a google search on him and got the impression he’s probably hooked up pretty well with the subversive NGO elements. What do you think he’s aiming to get out of this?
@Saker: Thanks for providing a good laugh! This is great. :)
I hope you get better soon.

Russia seems a lot more fun as Communism recedes into history. And the women are cuter and less muscular too. Magic happens.
Someone please tell me the name and contact info for the exquisite creature in the photo holding the bread. Lest anyone doubt Russia is a global superpower, have them feast their eyes on her glorious pulchritude.

“What do you know about Andrej Illarionov ?”
He’s a hardline Free Market ideologue whose advice Putin did find useful early on.
He first broke with Putin over the jailing of Khodorkovsky in 2003. It seems that imprisoning tax frauds bothers poor Andrei. In testimony before the US Congress, he called the case against Khodorkovsky “purely fabricated. Shortly afterwords the European Court of Human Rights ruled that there was no evidence that Khodorkovsky’s case was political, and that there was massive testimony and evidence as to his guilt, that Khodorkovsky’s lawyers could not refute.
The Anglosphere’s fury with Putin seems to have originated in the Khodorkovsky case. It has steadily grown.
“Russia seems a lot more fun as Communism recedes into history. And the women are cuter and less muscular too. “
Public opinion polling indicates that Russians themselves look back on the Brezhnev years as a ‘Golden Age’. The Sochi opening ceremony indicated this too.
And Raisa Gorbachev and Lyudmila Putin were pretty hawt back in the day…
I suggest you get rid of some preconceptions.

On the topic of people rallying around Russian patriotism. Some people have chosen to articulate a Ukrainian identity on the basis of siege mentality, juxtaposing the image of a Ukraine oppressed by the bullies from Kremlin throughout history. This is not the general attitude across Ukraine, however, and even in Kiev people are starting to wake up. Unlike the Eastern Ukraine, we’re still scattered, but even here dissent is picking up momentum. Just look at this kid (for all those who understand Russian): http://arkadiyzaharov.ru/kak-pacan-iz-kieva-voyuet-s-fashistami/#comment-3593. This gives me hope that something is stirring, particularly among young people. This kid mentioned an old proverb:”They that sow the wind, shall reap the whirlwind”. We’ll take the city back yet!

He seems to be a senior fellow on the Cato Institute. Some info on the Cato Institute set up by the Koch Brothers in the late 70’s here

Would take his arguments on Russia’s foreign policy designs with a grain of salt. Seems more like he is promoting stirring up trouble between Russia’s neighbors and Russia. As I try to remind people here in Finland, USSR does not equal Russia.

Andrej Illarionov: Attendee of the DAVOS World Economic Forum and he seems to be an avid supporter of Privatisation who had a falling out with Putin in 2006. Hmmm, wonder what his agender is especially given his backers.????
As for Finland and her defenses with media trying to sway public to either joining NATO or a defense pac with Sweden, I espouse learning from WW2 and from Hezbollah in 2006 and maintaining independent and well tech equipped light infantry. The terrain will take care of the rest unless Nukes are used which I doubt would happen in a beat up between Russia and Finland.
Also, Finnish Businesses like German Businesses are loosing out with the stupidity of EU sanctions with Russia.

Take care of yourself and get well soon Saker, your sobriety is much needed in our world of Zionist propaganda blinders.

US ambassador to India resigns
United States ambassador to India Nancy Powell resigned on Monday after less than two years in the post. US State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said. According to Reuters, Powell’s resignation was not related to the controversial arrest and strip search of junior Indian diplomat to the US Devyani Khobragade in New York last December. The incident involved Khobragade’s treatment of a low-paid domestic worker in the US, yet Indian officials expressed outrage at her treatment and felt Powell mishandled the case. Powell, a career diplomat who has held many positions in South Asia, recently met with Narenda Modi, an Indian opposition candidate who is likely to be the next prime minister. The meeting was Modi’s first with a US official in a decade. Washington had cut ties with him after deadly religious riots in 2002 that occurred in the state of Gujarat, where Modi was chief minister at the time.”

India is a sad case, where the ruling elites, mostly hereditary and grossly incompetent, threw in their lot with the USA after 1990, because neo-liberal capitalism offers the best prospects for elite looting of a country, at the expense of the serfs. It has a lot to do with caste hatred, which in the rural back-blocks is waged with homicidal fury. Indeed, I’d imagine that the global Master Race in crafting their neo-feudal ‘New World Order’ see the Indian caste system as a model for how to keep the down-trodden trodden down in perpetuity. The Indians were expected, of course, to kiss the posteriors of the Empire’s shadow shoguns in Israel, and Israeli expert at keeping a restive Moslem population suppressed over the long long term was useful in Kashmir.
Unfortunately, the neo-liberal dispensation in India has just led to vastly increased poverty and hunger, while a tiny stratum have waxed rich beyond the dreams of avarice, and a few hundred million, at most, have benefited. Regretably India is also expected to be a cats-paw for the Empire against China, crazily against its best interests. As for Modi, well he’s a pretty typical Indian chauvinist thug, hence the Yanks’ll love him, and his ‘success’ in Gujarat is vastly over-blown. The idea of a nuclear India, ruled by a quasi-fascist, chauvinistic thug, being egged on to confront China, as popular unrest convulses the countryside (the Israelis also gave invaluable advise on how to run death-squad militias to attack the burgeoning Naxalite revolt)and the economy stagnates is not a pretty thought. Add climate destabilisation, where much of India will pass the threshold of habitability of a ‘wet-bulb’ temperature of 35 degrees Celsius in the next few decades, if not sooner, and you have yet another nightmare courtesy of Uncle Satan in Mordor on the Potomac.
Illarionov slithered into view in the more deranged reaches of our entirely Rightwing MSM some years ago, as a rather febrile and demented anthropogenic climate destabilisation denier. He is described as a ‘libertarian’ ie, translating from the gibberish, a psychotic misanthrope. As for the Cato Institute, in my opinion a real sewer of human nastiness, beware Cato’s insistent demand that ‘Carthago delenda est’. For these omnicidal bastards, Russia is a latter-day Carthage.
Pushkin, Putin must root out the US-controlled subversives. It only takes a few of these scum, as we saw in Kiev, or in Malaysia, Serbia, China in 1989, Libya, Ukraine in 2005 etc, to cause tremendous damage or even the destruction of a country and its handing over to the Real Evil Empire. Call me old-fashioned but those operating on behalf of a belligerent fascist power, intent on destroying Russia (and that is the neo-cons’ ultimate aim) are guilty of treason. No ifs or buts. I do not condone capital punishment, but exile, to their spiritual Homeland and financier, the USA, seems appropriate.
Looks like I was correct about the phony Tatar homeland issue being created by zionazis to stir trouble in Crimea.
Russia boycotts UNSC meeting on Crimea http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2014/04/01/356738/russia-boycotts-un-meeting-on-crimea/
“Russia has boycotted an informal UN Security Council meeting on Crimea, saying the region is now a Russian territory and no longer an issue on the council’s agenda.
Russia’s UN Mission called the Monday meeting organized by Lithuania with Crimea’s Tatar minority as “inappropriate” and another international attempt to distract attention from “the grave situation in Ukraine.”
It also said the meeting on human rights and media freedom in Crimea was designed not to give an objective account of events in the region, “but to stage a biased propaganda show.”
The Russian mission said the meeting undermined the “standing” and “image” of the UN’s most powerful body…”

I have a suggestion for the Lithuanians and their Baltic confreres. Since they seem to have the heebee jeebees over the Russians residing in their lands of milk and honey, why not offer a plan to exchange their Russians for the Tatars. It’s a win-win. The Russians get a better climate and the Tatars get to know what it means to be wanted.
I’ll just add that if I were a Crimean Tatar, I’d say “fuck that, I’m stayin’ here”!
Until a couple of weeks ago, I knew essentially nothing about Tatars. I was served brunch once by a young man who said he was a Tatar. He looked like any young Russian to me. I think it heart warming to learn that so many of the great and good are ready to devote themselves to empowering those little known people. It would probably help if so many of the legion of the willing didn’t apparently believe that in addition to being a downtrodden minority, they also have something to do with Tartar Sauce.

Brave Ukrainians are on the lookout for nasty Russians
Russia has to thank three times USA for Crimea.
First time, when Caterina The Great conquered Crimea from the Ottoman Empire in the late XVIII Century. Within the Russian Imperial Navy fought as Captain John Paul Jones, that obtained brilliant victories against the Ottoman ships, being for that awarded the title of Rear Admiral of the Russia Imperial Navy. John Paul Jones rests today in Annapolis, USA, in a Chapel guarded every day by a Honour Picket of six marines, since he was the founder of the US NAvy during the Independence War of the American Colonies againt England.
The second time in 1852-55, when France and England joined with the Ottoman Empire against Russia to take back Crimea. In that war the USA was with Russia sending in support a military Hospital.
The third time is the past weeks, and you know the story, as the St. Peterburg people correctly understood.
This is truly hysterical, and I don’t even speak the language!

This is a translation of the spy report:

Yesterday, on a safe house in the center of Kiev
0:02
Russian Federal Security Service agent has been detained.
0:06
He is accused in subversive activities against democratic choice of Ukrainian people.
0:09
In the course of detention of the Russian spy two brass knuckles, a hand grenade and
0:12
a highly-brisant AK-74 machine gun with packs of cartridges have been seized
0:16
The offender wore a long leather trench coat with shoulder straps,
0:20
bearing two daggers beneath it,
0:22
a knife, honours and a medal, balalaika with spare strings
0:25
During search on the safe house
0:30
we discovered plenty of evidence damning the Russian spy:
0:34
weapons, documentation, paraphernalia.
0:39
Ammunition of various calibres were placed in special shells,
0:43
disguised as ordinary Russian Matryoshkas. Complete itinerary of Kiev
0:47
and it’s suburbs were found in his tablet, along with
0:51
shots of strategic objects and microfilms, that
0:55
contain instructions on sabotage commitments,
0:58
for which he needed Ukrainian traditional clothes and false moustache,
1:01
as well as Euromaidan activists badges.
1:06
In the agent’s belongings we found packed army lunch
1:11
That is used in Russian military exclusively,
1:16
Premium Nagant revolver, epaulets and NKVD insignia,
1:20
chevron of Gazprom unit special forces,
1:24
sleeve signs of political commissar of propaganda
1:28
and “Night wolves” Russian motorbicycle club
1:32
We managed to seize also the Federal Security Service secret order
1:35
ordering to commit unlawful acts, under the pretence of
1:39
being Ukrainian rioter for freedom and Independence,
1:43
and to disguise himself as part of the Maidan defence unit and
1:46
Ukrainian Insurgent Army soldier to commit plunder, looting and debauchery.
1:51
The spy tried to destroy the secret order by eating it,
1:54
because it’s content totally gives away the Russian special services.
1:59
A Russian Federal Security provocateur certificate has been seized
2:02
from the apprehended person. It’s issued in the name of
2:05
Abraham Ramzanovich Titushkin and is signed personally by Putin.
2:10
– Here you see, the photo, the stamp – everything’s authentic.
2:17
Along with documents and weapons, also found on the safe house:
2:20
a portable radio set, two smoking pipes and Stalin moustache,
2:25
various banned extremist literature,
2:28
anti-Ukrainian campaign materials and
2:31
large amount of money in various foreign exchange,
2:35
cash amount of more than 3 billion dollars
2:44
of Zimbabwe. In that way, subversive activities of Russian special services
2:51
aimed at discrediting new authorities and heroes of the Maidan have been averted.

While we would all deeply appreciate your analysis, I personally am hoping it’s simply an April Fool’s Joke. Otoh, it’s more than likely that everyone living in or within shooting range of NATO is being played for a fool, by people who are not only knaves, but also fools. Hard to see the humor in it though…
The zios, and their various fascist western leaning allies, are panicking about the new proposed Russian laws on dual citizenship. Earlier I posted an article on these proposed laws, speculating it will probably tick off the zionist element, especially. This article talks about these laws and the backlash they are creating among the “I want my loyalties to another country to remain secret” club.

“How do citizens of Russia have a second citizenship, nobody knows. It being understood that the overwhelming part of their lives permanently abroad – in the Baltics, Ukraine, Central Asia, Abkhazia, Transnistria, South Ossetia, Europe and USA. Most of them – our compatriots living in the territory of historical Russia, or immigrants, moved to Germany, Israel or America in the 90s. Similarly, many people who have moved to Russia from the former Soviet republics, receiving Russian citizenship, passports retained Moldova, Georgia and Tajikistan. None of these innovations are not worried – they have nothing to hide. Worried those who do not want their second loyalty known in Russia – but it is so narrow stratum that no opinion poll can not even fix its value. Narrow but powerful – that’s why the noise around this theme will be many. No wonder – like hide those who have something to hide.”
