You know about the Great Wall of China, right? But have you ever heard of the Great Western Wall?
That is the immense wall which was built around the minds of the people of the West for the past 1000 or so years. I will try to describe it using a few salient examples, but what I want to clearly state here is that these examples are only some I chose, but in reality, there are millions of them and they constitute a kind of “mental force field” which has (almost) no holes in it. Until now. But let’s first start with a few examples of what that wall looks like and how those enclosed by it think:
- Say what you wish, or don’t say it, but everybody knows and understands that the so-called Western civilization (which in this narrative was not born from the Middle-Ages, but from Antiquity) is superior to all others. Oh sure, we will pay lip service to the liberal ideas of Rousseau or the Woke insanity, but deep inside, we are the best, we will eventually prevail, and nobody can match, nevermind, beat us.
- Russians are racially and culturally inferior. Oh sure, they are mostly white, but they act like Mongols (something quite terrible in the average western mind which knows *nothing* about the Mongol Empire, this is even true on the UK Ministerial level!!!). They are either soaking their brains with vodka, or they are planning devious and bloody attacks on the irenic and noble people of the West. The term I suggest for them would be Russians are “Snow Niggers“.
- The Snow Niggers control way too much land and resources. We need to bring them true democracy.
- Russians have never known democracy, so they don’t even have the concept of “freedom”: true, we don’t really understand the distinction they make between “svoboda” and “volia” anymore than we understand the distinction between “pravda” and “istina” – but who cares, they don’t think like we do, therefore their concepts are irrelevant.
- Russians cannot be trusted. Ever. Ask any of the people who neighbor Russia and they will tell you how horrible it was to live under Russian rule. The fact that Russians (unlike the West) never committed genocide and that there are still 193 ethnic groups and over 100 languages in Russia herself is irrelevant. The fact that not a single successor republic to the USSR became stable and viable – except Russia, that is – also irrelevant. All that Russians do is murder, rape, pillage and persecute everybody else, especially “gays”!
- Russians have always used stupid tactics, they always throw a huge amount of poorly trained soldiers but animalistically stubborn/courageous at any enemy. During WWII, the German military was vastly superior to the Soviet one and the German generals eons ahead of the rather dull Soviet ones, especially in tactics and operational warfare. Germany only lost WWII thanks to the US and UK and their superb military academies. Any Soviet victory is explained by “Stalin’s terror”, of course. Then these brutes went on a raping spree and created a giant Gulag while US forces only delivered chocolate and cool music to the poor Europeans, including the Germans. Then the US generously rebuilt western Europe. End of story.
- We have the best military in the world, with the best equipment and training. The fact that we spend more on defense than the entire planet is the proof of that. We also have the best intelligence community in the world, the fact that we have 17 “intelligence” agencies while others typically do with just a few (2-4 is typical) just further proves our infinite superiority (by some estimates, the total “peace budget” of the USA, combining military, intelligence and contractors is over a TRILLION per year!).
- The entire world envies us – that is why we are the #1 destination for immigrants from all over the world. Even the fact that we have by far the biggest penitentiary network on the planet, and one of the most barbarically brutal ones at that, does not deter these immigrants. Clearly, the world loves us!
Trust me, I could go on for pages and pages. I lived my entire life in the West, I was born in the middle of Europe (in Switzerland) and I lived about half of my life in Europe and half in the USA. I am fluent in 5 western languages and understand quite a few more others (related ones, of course). I have two US graduate degrees. I know the West. Most westerners who met me initially did not know of my origins, so they treated me like “one of them” until I mentioned my Russian roots, at which point their attitude immediately changed: “careful, he is one of them” was written all over their faces.
And, OF COURSE, there were (plenty) of exceptions to what I describe above. But these exceptions were never numerous or influential enough to make a difference: Western countries always elect rabid russophobes: they all equally hate and fear Russia, they just express it in different manners. So those westerners who do not live behind the Great Western Wall have made no difference, especially no difference to us, the Asiatic Snow Niggers.
Again, all this has been going on for close to a thousand years, but something has changed recently and stuff like this began to happen:
And by “this” I don’t mean an F-35 missing its landing on a carrier and splashing into the water. No, that F-35 is a perfect metaphor for the entire western civilization.
- Official version: the F-35 is the most amazing military aircraft ever designed
- True version: the F-35 is the most overpriced piece of semi-airborne shit in world history
Notice, corruption plays THE key role here.
Say what you want, but a country which designed and produced the F-16, the F-5, the A-10 or the breathtakingly beautiful Boeing 747 can produce superb aircraft. And while all the US ‘stealth’ aircraft are overpriced and over-hyped, the F-35 is truly a masterpiece of corruption. There is nothing the many extremely talented US scientists and engineers could do to beat the most corrupt people on the planet: the US ruling elites. And, for the latter, the F-35 is a total, absolute, success. I would even call it a triumph.
A personal recollection now: while a student in the USA, I had military force planning classes, taught by a VERY sharp USAF Colonel (who also worked for the Northrop YF-23 program). His classes were a masterpiece each time. One day, we did something funny. We made a graph with, on one hand, the average cost of each new US fighter aircraft and, on the other, the money allocated for their acquisition. Then we projected both curves and the result was quite hilarious, but also unforgettable: we saw that there would come a time when the entire US military budget would be just enough to produce only ONE, but very super dooper bestest of the bestest in the history of the galaxy fighter! One! Sadly, I do not remember what date we came up with, but I would argue that the F-35 is the real-world illustration of what our (tongue in cheek) graphic showed (BTW – the Lockheed YF-22 was inferior in design to the Northrop YF-23, the choice for the Lockheed candidate was made solely on political grounds: not to give it all the kickbacks to Northrop basically).
The year 1990 was the year when the YF-22/YF-23 made their first flight. That same year, the Snow Niggers flew a modified version of the Soviet Su-27, called the SU-34, for the first time. In my strictly personal opinion, the Su-34 is the single most formidable all-weather supersonic medium-range fighter-bomber/strike aircraft ever produced in Russia or elsewhere. The fact that this design (originally based on a Soviet-era Su-27 interceptor) not only survived the horrific 90s when Russia was “democratic”, but has now fully matured to the absolutely amazing Su-34M version, shows how truly superb Soviet designers and engineers were even in the years of “Commie stagnation” under Brezhnev & Co. This is what this true masterpiece looks like:

No, it ain’t “stealth”, but its formidable EW, avionics, missiles and radar negate the need for any F-22 like RCS. And it sure is a big aircraft (think range and payload here). But its capabilities are absolutely formidable, no other aircraft comes even close, not even current 5th generation ones, especially to the (much improved) current Su-34M version (which is still very much a 4th generation aircraft, but which does not need the full 5th generation capabilities to execute its missions, that is where the 4++ generation Su-30M2 and Su-35S would be used, or, if needed, the 5th generation Su-57.
I do not intend this post to be a comparison of the YF-22/YF-23/F-35 with the Su-34 or any other aircraft.
But I will ask a rhetorical question: why is it that the USA, the sole world superpower (especially after 1991 and the fall of the USSR) and world leader in everything produced such a piece of shit (aka “flying brick”) as the F-35, while the vodka soaked Asiatic Snow Niggers, while undergoing a truly apocalyptic phase like the 90s (TWO civil wars in Chechnia, one in Moscow in 93) produced a masterpiece like the Su-34?
And here we see the formidable power of The Great Western Wall! That rhetorical question will be treated in any combination of the following ways:
- Dismissed as “Putin propaganda”
- Dismissed as factually incorrect (the correct version being: ours is SO MUCH better)
- Simply ignored, blocked from anybody’s awareness
- Explained by “the Russians steal all our secrets” whereas we invent real things (since the F-35 is actually largely based on the (much better!) Russian Yak-141, this is an especially funny argument to make).
- “Specialists” will declare that the Su-34 is based on primitive and old technologies while the F-35 is the bleeding edge of aeronautics (which is false, but if it was true, these idiots are too stupid to realize what this statement implies about the intelligence and experience of actual warfare of each party!)
- The same pseudo-experts will also fail to realize (or, at least, admit) that while the US MIC produced that abomination which the F-35 is, the Russians have just produced a similar aircraft, the Su-75, which has none of the flaws of the F-35, has broadly similar capabilities and for a small fraction of the F-35 criminally obscene price tag.
Western kids can peacefully sleep at night knowing that they are still part of the Master Race and that they are defended by Captain Murica style hyper-warriors with hyper-gadgets who can, and will, kick any Snow Niggers’ ass if needed! Yeah!

Just to illustrate the huge, immense, breathtaking difference between what I call Zone A and Zone B, the Great Western Wall being the monumental propagandist masterpiece which, at least so far, has kept the two Zones apart (the Zones themselves were originally a geographical category, but this is now changing, so let’s think of them as also a mental category).
(Truism alert!!) We live in the age of the Internet, the ubiquitous smartphones (with excellent cameras!), the social media and too many ways to connect for any wall to stand, including the Great Western Wall! Reality is now slowly seeping under, over, and even through this mental Great Wall and that has two main effects:
- It puts the western ruling classes into a total, abject, panic mode
- It stirs up doubts about the veracity of the Western propaganda machine in the heads of the western people (which only doubles the panic felt by the western ruling classes).
What recently happened in Kabul is just about the perfect illustration of how the Western Great Wall is collapsing before our eyes.

Outside their truly satanic ruling elites, the USA have lots of good, decent and often very smart people. Lots of natural resources, including two great oceans. They face no threat from their neighbors (especially once they become *normal* and not aggressively paranoid) and there is still A LOT of wealth here. The USA also has some superb authors, composers, artists, maybe not in Hollywood or Broadway, but they exist. The Appalachian music scene is fantastic, and there still are some amazing Jazz musicians here.
We focus too much on the evils of US capitalism just as we focused too much on the evils of Soviet communism. But beneath these very real evils, here are many beautiful humans, both in the USA and in the USSR (or today Russia).
Yes, the USA will all knew died on Jan 6th. The AngloZionist Empire almost exactly a year prior. We can let these two corpses stink and decay, but we should never forget that out of that decay a new, very different, international order and a very new and different kind of USA will emerge. Maybe several, actually.

Three significant dates in American history.

I believe the US does have major natural resources but, its environmental laws prevent them from taking advantage of it. And then there’s the wider picture, why use your own resources when you can use others? Deplete those resources first then fall back on your own. This tactic will ensure your competitors will not have the needed resources to stop your hegemony.
As for Latin America, some already have turned East simply because of economics; more will follow. But, there will still be Latino ideologues inside the US/Europe that will use the US for their agenda.

In 1998 Igor Panarin, Dean of the Russian Diplomatic Academy, presented his map on the break up of the US into six parts. Having lived in the US, I can state that the map is basically correct, and I can only agree with Panarin.
The US is experiencing political, social, economic, financial and ethnic troubles. It already fought one civil war, which is still fresh in the minds of people in the South. It has a large foreign debt, with people failing to understand that it also has a gigantic domestic debt, many times larger, and even US university professors are not sure how large it is. These debts can never be repayed. Worse, the dollar is printed backed by nothing, except the US military. This situation cannot be permanently maintained, ie. you cannot kick the can down the road permanently.
Analysts are predicting a financial crash. And how will the US elite react ? Sit back and watch the show, or provoke a large regional war to boost the US economy and finances, an old bankers trick that analysts are stating will not work any more.? Aren’t we seeing this in Ukraine ?

Currently I am living inthe Czech Republic and I csn testify that there is a good portion of the Czechs that see it your way. Unfortunately, and like many in the US or Canada, they, for the most part, have hardly any choice when they come to the poles. The western elites own the political theatre and will not permit any non aligned politicians to run. Tulsi Gabbard or Bernie Sanders is a good example. Democracy is dead in the West. Same circus but different clowns. The US does not have any bright future. Why? Because lately it lost true quality education (also thanks to the Critical culture theory and similar misplaced ideas-just ask Jordan Peterson), R&D moved to Asia, middle class is disappearing faster than a blink of an eye and self anointed minorities are replacing quolified cadres. Human beings, Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Protestants, Atheists sin. One time, two, three….the human matrix is sinful, and concupiscence is at its core. Whoever says that “does not sin” does not know himself. A Catholic, after he/she repented in her heart, can be restored to Grace through confession of mortal and/or venial sins to a priest, and by doing penance. Sins are wounds in the soul, but when they are forgiven only the scar is left. When a person dies, even if his/her sins are forgiven, may have a soul with quite a few scars which need to be erased so that the soul may regain the original beauty. This “purgation” is what Purgatory is all about.

According to the true Orthodox Church whose head is Jesus Christ, our purpose here on earth is attaining ‘theosis’ or ‘deification’.
Repenting, communion, confession, chrismation, baptism, unction, marriage (traditional) are ways of reaching this goal set out for us by Jesus Christ and yet it does not mean we will become deified. We will always be a step or two below the level of Jesus no matter how hard we try. We are human after-all.
The concept of ‘purgatory’ is not part of attaining theosis. It has nothing to do with original Christianity. It was created by the Latin Christians when the split occurred in 1054 A.D. So, since we’re all sinners the heresy came within the Orthodox Church with the help of the unbelievers off-course. In other words, Living a life like Jesus Christ is not easy, in fact, it is extremely difficult, a lot of foot work involved, but the end result in Heaven.

The first mention of Purgatory in the Bible is in 2 Maccabees 12:46: “Thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be freed from sin.”
But I do not know if the book of Maccabees is accepted by the Orthodox Christians.
To me, it seems less to matter what one believes, then what is true. And most of us mortals cannot see into the spiritual world to distinguish more than : ”this feels right”. And even then, one can very easily be misguided. Fortunately humans live a long time, so we might have time to get closer to the truth.
As a w European, culturally Roman Catholic, the idea of purgatory seems probable (if there is an afterlife at all) to me. Without it, it seems unjust and too harsh. But without considering reincarnation it still seems quite random to explain inequalities in chance and opportunity of different people.

The basis of European civilization is the Greek (Hellenic) culture, copied by the Romans and exported throughout the Roman empire. When Western politicians boast of Western culture, they are unconsciously praising the Hellenic culture. Also, when the Renaissance appeared in Italy in the 14th and 15th centuries, it only did so because Greek scholars came to Italy from Constantinople and reminded the Italians of the achievements of the Hellenic/Roman culture.
And yes, there are differences in the culture and mentality between Western and Eastern Europe, inspired by Roman bishops who left the original Christian Church and created the Roman Catholic one. But to state that the real Russia is not European at all is a gross exaggeration, bearing in mind the cultural influence which Orthodox churches have in Eastern Europe. And yes, Russians may not possess the mentality of Western Europeans, but they certainly possess the mentality inspired by the Orthodox churches. Therefore Russians are Europeans, of the Eastern School.

Maybe an article about the fall of Constantinople would do much to explain Russian tradition and history. I am sure you are aware, the common and notable date is 1453 and mostly blamed on the Ottomans, although it was the Western European states led by the Venetians that truly destroyed the strength of Constantinople during the 4th Crusade. It seems that Russian history, even as far back as Constantinople is a tragedy of brother against brother. A history of fratricide. This was the great betrayal of Western to Orthodox Christianity, and truly opened the gates for the Ottoman conquest. I understand where you are coming from but somehow i cannot fully agree, as one raised in an Anglo/Celtic culture this is my take on the real feelings. I am really talking UK and colonial powers because the USA is a little different but here goes:
1. The Anglos are rivals to the French. There is a mix of contempt and approval and even bum licking, given that speaking French was a requirement for the educated, French fashions were the highest goal. A bit like rival football teams – a mixture of hate and respect.
2. The Anglos love the Italians but hold them in contempt. They loooove the culture but think the people corrupt, cowardly and weak.
3. The Anglos truly despise the Spanish. They are the devils, the demons. Think Sir Francis drake, Queen Elizabeth 1. the armada and of course the hated King Phillip and his cruel inquisition friends.
4. The Anglos respect the Germans – hardly surprising given their Royal house was German. The Anglo way of thinking is very, very Germanic -not surprising given they had a common origin with languages closely related.
5. The Angloes despise the Irish -they are seen to have all the faults of the Italian with none of their virtues plus they are regarded as drunkards. This has probably changed in recent years but was definitely the case when i was young.
6. Then there are the Scots. This is complicated and probably beyond me. However the Scots are not Anglos. They are respected (given that the British empire relied on them, hardly surprising) also they punched above their weight in terms of education and engineering and medicine. Fierce fighters they tend to be romanticised. Moreover the relative economic prosperity of the major “white colonies”, Australia, NZ and Canada can largely be set at the door of the Scots. In Australia I can say with certainty that Scots descendants were the wealthy ones, largely oppressing the working class catholic Irish.
7. Now what about Russians. Here I think you have hit it when you mention the Mongols, because I think for many or most in the West they equated Russians with the Mongol horde. Now growing up I can say that, for me even coming from a leftist home, very pro Russian generally my image of Russians was based on the cartoon characters Boris and Natasha. Boris was small and dark and evil looking and Natasha was a tall, slim , very sexy but also very black haired. To my personal embarrassment, I was surprised to find the Russians or at least those from the west are very blonde almost Swedish looking. Essentially the west portrayed Russians as essentially very Asiatic/Turkish in appearance. The Russians were portrayed as comic, evil and drunk. Now as to pre cold war portrayals- from literature etc, I think the reality is that they were ignored.

I watched the movie Adrei Rublev on TCM last night. It was a movie chosen by the guest host, musician Hans Zimmer. I was very captivated by this remarkable film.
It was a bit slow moving and hard to follow at first, as I grasped to get the narrative, but as I watched, I became pulled in to this gripping and beautifully made film. It centers on the orthodox monk-artist’s experience during the early 1400s also demonstrating the tribulations of Russians during this period, and how the culture of Russia is born of great hardship and sacrifice.
I may be mistaken but I perceived that the regular host Ben Mankiewicz (whom I do like), was kind of reticent with praise for the film, which is unlike him. Could he be part of the lets-not-say-anything-good-about-Russia brigade?

Genocide is a part of Russian history just like it is for other former or current great powers. The order you mention must be understood in the context of the Polish 1920 attack on USSR, and related only to certain elements, certainly not the entire Polish population. What worries me about the future of Russia is not the astounding levels of it’s military and technology, or the *current* leadership, but just how much of Western mind rot has seeped into the youth of the country via the Internet, and even the Universities. I have heard that many of the top Russian Universities are very similar to Western ones in terms of a seeping in of Woke agendas. The same question can be asked of the future crop of politicians? There’s an aspect to this that I think people tend to overlook, which is that the disrespect … let’s just call it contempt … embedded in the word “nigger” flows less from a certain population being negroid (black), and more from the fact that they were used as slaves. But, where does the word “slave” come from in the first place? Slavs provided the original pool of coerced labour for western Europe.
The contempt in which slave masters hold their human chattel becomes actively vicious and punitive following a successful slave revolt. Punitive action against such colonies and their descendants can and will persist for centuries. Take Haiti for example. Those people are still being punished for 1804, still paying reparations. My personal opinion is that the West’s punitive attitude toward Russians and Serbs stems, to a significant degree, from the fact these Slavs got uppity and threw off the yoke.
Which is not to say that racism doesn’t factor into it; it absolutely does. But, it doesn’t tell the whole story.

I remember during the Kosovo conflict and NATO’s aggression towards Serbia that my Stepfather (who fancies himself a political liberal Democrat, Progressive, etc) said something that shocked me. Here’s a man who has always denounced racism and prejudice saying to me that Slavs are an evil race of people. I couldn’t believe that he said that. It must have been ingrained from growing up during the Cold War and all the propaganda around that.
I try to be the best ambassador I can for the Russian point of view. I have a deep love and respect for the Russian Nation and it’s great people and it’s culture, customs and history. I consider myself to be spiritually Russian. I was Chrismated (converted from Roman Catholicism) into the Russian Orthodox Church in a former Soviet Republic in Central Asia. I have a general understanding geopolitics (despite my lack of higher education) and I understand the Russian position on it’s traditional Sphere of Influence (it’s Near Abroad) and I hoped that Americans being the nation that wrote the Monroe Doctrine would understand the Russian position on such matters. I think if they weren’t completely brainwashed by the MSM propaganda they would absolutely understand where Russia is coming from.
Unfortunately when people are conditioned to think a certain way it’s very hard to get through to them. They need to be (for lack of a better term) Red Pilled as to the truth of things and stop believing the comfortable myths and lies that have been built up around Washington particular but also Western Civilization and how we got to where we are and where we are going.
I think the last hope for the West is Orthodoxy. It’s returning to the Orthodox Catholic faith of our ancestors before the Great Schism. With the Roman Catholic Church falling as it is into Modernity and Globalism I truly see Western Rite Orthodoxy as the last hope of the West. It is our heritage in the West. A lost heritage.
God willing there’s still time for the West to return to Christ, because otherwise I see my Civilization as doomed.

I live in Taiwan more than 35 years, and I can sure you Taiwan (gov/elite/ and most Taiwan people) are in “Zone A” mindset (even geographic, economic，and linguistic, it should be more like in zone B) The media always zombie-like translate those BS western News from CNN/BBC/ABC/CNBC etc. They truly believe US is the best of the best, even after 2021 Afghanistan debacle.

1. The pro-government media and anti-government media are still keep arguing US will save/betray Taiwan. (they never truly ask did US have the capacity/ability to do it, and what price will Taiwan paid, even in the more pro-china media)
2. They seldom mention Russia ultimatum is published in “public draft treaty form” and almost never mention the content/essential of those treaty (they only talk about it from Western point of view)
3. About Crimea, they never mention the Coup happened during 2014 Feb, and always use “Russia annexed crimea.” Almost never mention about the referendum.

Have you ever seen the 1983 movie “Deal of the Century” with Chevy Chase, Gregory Hines, Vince Edwards and Sigourney Weaver? If not, check it out. It’s hilarious.
It’s a dark comedy about how weapons sales are made. Chevy plays a freelance arms runner who’s trying to sell some weapons to a South American dictator. Sigourney is the wife of a salesman for a major US aircraft manufacturer who is trying to sell a drone fighter plane to the dictator. The salesman has been trying for months to get the dictator to commit, and finally commits suicide in frustration. Chevy gets hold of the salesman’s pitch material and tries to take over the sale himself.
Meanwhile, the drone fighter isn’t actually all that great. For example, if it rains, it fails to function. So Chevy has to do all sorts of underhanded things to try to get the dictator to buy the piece of junk.
I won’t spoil the whole thing. You really have to watch it.
I’m an American born and raised. I have advanced degrees in Philosophy. I’ve read a lot of Marxists, a lot of economics. I work in software. I’m not a stupid or uneducated person. If I had read this article five years ago, I would have dismissed it as reactionary, ignorant garbage. Now, I read it and think The Saker is absolutely correct. The difference between then and now is that was led to and joined the Orthodox Church. Part of that process involved a study of the schism between Rome and the rest of the church, and it is not possible to understand that process unless one first understands the difference between Rome in the East and the Frankish fantasy of Rome in the west. Praying to Russian saints helps to break down the cultural chauvinism, too.

I know what you mean, and as a Swede I have heard my fair share of it. But a big change has occurred in the West among the men who would be the ones fighting a war against the evil Russkies – the realization that our elites (* elites not in performance) hate us, white men, just as much. The impact on morale cannot be over stated : you need to feel you have country behind you when you are sent off to war, but today that is not the case. Let’s imagine you are standing in the middle of some railroad tracks with one of those VR headsets with headphones on. You don’t see, hear, or feel the approaching train at your back. Will you get ran over by the train? Reality is the train and doesn’t care if you perceive it or not. It is your job to perceive the train and not the other way around. We have a real problem with narcissism in the so called “Western” world.
Except for the WWII generation (my Grandparents generation) I haven’t really experienced that much prejudice against Japanese here in California (I was born in 1981). Having spent a lot of time in San Francisco in the 1990’s, I did hear a lot of Anti-Chinese sentiments from usually older White Ethnic San Franciscans. The Chinese were becoming the biggest landlords in the City at the time and their numbers were growing outside of Chinatown in neighborhoods that were not traditionally Chinese. After 9/11 the Anti-Arab/Muslim sentiments in the US were extremely strong and I’m sorry to say that I participated in that sentiment back then and remained prejudice in that regard until I met my wife (a Persian Muslim from the former USSR. Now I have a great admiration of Islamic Civilization and a great love of Islamic Art and Architecture and Music).
There has always been a persistent prejudice in the US towards American Indians and those of Mexican heritage. Unfortunately that still lingers even though the American Southwest is largely a hybrid culture being both White American, Mexican and American Indian (being of mixed heritage myself I feel at home in the Southwest, it is a reflection of me).
Prejudice towards Blacks in America is largely underground now, but still persistent. That has a lot to do with Black Americans committing more violent crime than any other group (bar none) per Capita in America. Americans who hate Blacks just because they are Black is probably a very small minority these days but that could change as the BLM and Critical Race Theory create a backlash among younger White Americans.
As for the prejudice against Russians. I know it was present during the Cold War. There seems to be a strong anti-Russian sentiment among some American Jews (that seems to have it’s roots in late Tsarist Russia or Stalin’s Soviet Union). Of course there is some old anti-Russian prejudice among the Polish and Ukrainian diaspora in the United States, but other than that I would have to say that all of this anti-Russian sentiment in America is primarily manufactured via propaganda in the popular media. Especially since the Maidan Coup of 2014. That’s when anti-Russian sentiment went into hyperdrive and that was followed by the Syrian war propaganda and then the Russia gate Hoax around Donald Trump. I know that this propaganda has been around before 2014 and was even present during the Yeltsin years when a real US puppet was in the Kremlin but it has been gradually increasing in intensity throughout the Putin Era. It reached it’s first crescendo during the brief Russian/Georgian conflict in 2008 (which was once again provoked and encouraged by Washington) and then tapered off during the “Reset” of the early Obama years only to be set off again when Russia offered asylum to Edward Snowden, then blocked Washington’s plans for regime change in Syria. The Maidan Coup of 2014 was Washington’s response to Russia’s independent actions against their wishes and that’s how we ended up where we are today.

1) Western (European) paranoia about Russia likely traces back to the fact that the Khans nearly won. Successive Mongolian victories pushed deeply into European heartlands. At the Battle of Legnica in April 1241, Mongol forces wiped out the combined northern European forces. At the Battle of Mohi, also in April 1241, Mongol forces wiped out the central European army. Nothing of any size was left between the Mongols and the French coast. Europeans were almost going to be speaking Mongolian. Then, in December of 1241, Ogodei Khan died unexpectedly. Mongolian commanders returned to the Mongol capital of Karakorum for the election of a new leader. Europe was (barely) saved. I could see a deep (irrational) fear still remaining from that knowledge…

2) Europe remembers the starving-out of Ukrainian lands by Stalin. Millions dead. Brutal to the extreme. This old ‘bias’ will have to be countered by rational responses by current Russian leaders.
3) YF-22A vs YF-23A: As an (ex) aero engineer, I followed this competition closely. In addition to the political aspects, the YF-23A Black Widow II was seen as biased to the ‘interceptor’ side, with less dog-fighting capability and more advanced stealth. The YF-22A Raptor was the reverse, so it was more of a favorite of the ‘turn-and-burn’ USAF leaders.

4) Su-34M vs F-35: This is a difference in philosophies. The F-35 has a lower max-G capability, lower max Mach number, higher wing-loading (broader turning circle), and much lower weapons-carrying capability than the Su-34M. The Su-34M would ‘eat’ the F-35 in a dog-fight. The thought, decades ago, was that the F-35 would ‘plink’ the Su-34M from long range, before the latter knew the former was there. True, at the time. Today, Russian low-frequency radar (now mobile) can tell that “something’s there.” This is just an indication; it is still not possible to lock-on ground-to-air missiles to stealth aircraft. However, this radar can be used to vector Russian interceptor aircraft to the vicinity of stealth aircraft. So, by today, much of the ‘advantage’ of 5th generation aircraft over 4th generation has disappeared. (This may be why Russia has not allowed Syrian S-300/400 units to fire on F-35s over Lebanon and the Mediterranean. Accumulate data; do not reveal capabilities.) Note also that Russian 5th generation aircraft are optimized for frontal stealth. This would fit with not being detected until you can get within dog-fighting range.
5) Finally, there has to be a ‘provocation’ bad-enough to get the Russians to say “Enough!” and commit sufficient forces for the “Biden” clique to say “Russia bad!” and work to split any European/Russian collaborations. That is the goal. Currently, I am watching the MSM absolutely beating-the-drums to prepare the public for a “Russia bad!” programmed-response – no matter the facts on the ground. Of all the MSM news, this top-down ‘positioning’ is the most scary to me…

I think you have heard of the great Scottish bard, Robbie Burns. He wrote some truly ‘great’ poems, some of which you may have heard. For Example, “A man’s a man” and then there was that “Such a parcel O’ Rogues” and of course one of his best known; “To a Mouse”.. Strangely enough, I have heard that Russians also appreciate the works of Robbie Burns. I wonder why?
In Australia, we had two major bards, one a deaf alcoholic from Sydney called Henry Lawson, and from Melbourne, a solicitor called Andrew (Banjo) Paterson. During the Boer war Paterson did some work, mainly as a roustabout with horses, and commented on the similarity of the Boer to Australians. Well, some would say that that couldn’t be right, but it was, and still is.
When I was at secondary school, the good old ‘Heidelberg Tech’, our soccer team was made up of three poles, being two brothers and a cousin, oh and an Italian. Those four made our ‘Australian school team the best! Then at Preston Diploma College, where I lasted only six months, I remember two Chinese students; both had the surname “Yu”, but one was called Ignacious and the other Hey. Somebody had a sense of humour.
And then whilst in the ‘Police Farce’ I met a variety of different people, many refugees from Vietnam, who were mostly of Chinese background, but also some from the Arab countries, and even one who had married a Romanian lass. And yes, I’ve met a couple of Russians, and I’ve never seen the reaction that you spoke about.
I even recall a scene from the movie, “A bridge too far” played by a well known actor of a US ‘Serbian’ sapper, and I had thought that America would have been similar to Australia, but apparently not.
And of course you have heard of ‘Operation Paperclip’ where Wernher von Braun or whatever and his crew were imported into America and based at ‘Area 51’ or whatever, for the Americans to work on rockets, but then it gets really funny as Professor James Van Allen used ‘Rockoons’ for all of his tests including testing out Fred Singers hypothesis of the magnetic belts surrounding the earth (Christofilos effect), so what was Werner and his mates working on during their stay at ‘Area 51″? Please do not tell me they were working on the ‘Saturn Rockets’ for the Moon Race, as most of them fell over or misfired, but the Russians?
Well, yes; the Russians! Their first rockets didn’t fail, they worked. The sputnik, well that worked as well; they may have been crude but they did work, and then the first men into space, cosmonauts Aleksei Ledovskikh (late 1957), Serenti Shaborin (February 1958) and Andrei Mitkov (January 1959) all died during their flights.
The cosmonaut, Vladimir Ilyushin was launched into space on the 7th April 1961 but his spacecraft malfunctioned and crashed in China where he was hospitalised. On the 12th April 1961, cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in ‘Vostok-1’ was launched into space and was able to land successfully. On the 5th May 1961, the American astronaut, Alan Shepard was launched in ‘Freedom-7’.
Now during these times, one would recall that Russia was still suffering from the effects of the previous WW2. America though was not, but it was still unable to beat Russia. Why even JFK pushed for America to win this race against the USSR, but such an achievement was never possible, and so they lied, they deceived and they grabbed the loot, and the poor average American footed the bill, time and time again.
So the dickhead, the ignorant and the uninformed believe what their lying media tell them. So be it; it has always been that way, but I have noticed that very few of those that visit this site are rarely of that ilk.

Behind the moral posturing is profit. Behind the sacred values is profit. Behind the Rules Based Order is–you guessed it–profit. And behind the endless blither about Freedom and Democracy is profit. The US doesn’t hate you because you’re Russian (or Chinese, or Iranian, or Venezuelan, or Bolivian). It demonizes you because you have something American corporations or bankers want and you won’t let them have it. The Empire is very good at two complementary things, 1) keeping people distracted, divided and confused (for this ethnicity, religion, nationality, and identity is routinely weaponized), and 2) exploiting resources and markets for (drum roll please)–profit for the major corporations and bankers. The best analogy for me is the comparison between the underground railway in Russia vs. the pest and crime infested underground rail in the west. Anybody in the west should visit the winter palace in St-Peters-burg or the Kremlin and while their, take a look around how you should honor your fallen soldiers.

Trubetskoy’s ‘Russian-Eurasian’ civilisation also takes into account the lasting influence of the Mongols in Russian history. Indeed, some contemporary Eurasianists (eg Alexander Dugin) have gone so far as to claim Russia as the heir to Genghis Khan’s empire of the steppe.

My background is totally “Western”, but working in an academic environment, I met many Russian colleagues and I was surprised by one thing: their sense of humor. Is this a feature of most Russian? Of course this can be limited to the few people that I met, but while at the beginning they seems shy, tough, almost grim, after few knowledge I found them very friendly, open to help and discuss, also with professors (Russian physicists are top scientists, but they are little known). I noted their love for the “Motherland”, a concept that does not coincide with ethnic Russia (especially for a Tartar guy I know, he is quite accurate in keeping this distinction). I also met a Russian colleague from Donetsk, and as you can image we discussed a bit the situation as he lost some friends there. I feel compelled to apologize for the West.
I slightly disagree with you about the “Mongols orders”, because in Italy the propaganda during the cold war was more about the fear of the “Homo Sovieticus” (and let me say that Soviet Union did many efforts to strengthen this picture, whereas US concealed very well all of their genocides). The communists of Russia ate children.. this was a recurring joke. Fortunately, in Italy many people respect Russia as the heir of the Soviet Union, which was considered by one third of the population the Heaven of the Workers, some really loves Gagarin over Armstrong. But I confirm that few people realize the Russian sacrifices during WWII: American movies are the main source of knowledge, not books. But I do my best to restore the truth, at least among people that I know. This is why I appreciate your contributions.

About movies and cultural background: you should take advantage of the fact that the internet gives access to media that mainstream western casters ignore.
Some years ago I took to see as many Russian/Soviet movies I could. I spent hundreds of hours watching.
That had a double effect, it allowed me to better understand and share the Russian ethos, and it also cleaned my brain of all the western lies.
And there are truly wonderful movies. Childhood of Ivan Ivanovich; Soldier’s ballad; Here mornings are peacefull; Solaris (which I also read the book)…
It struck me different approach, as compared to western movies. For example war movies, western ones are about some exceptional character that is smarter or stronger or more lucky than the others; Russian ones tell a story/tale, the characters are not outstanding per se, but pièces of a wider tissue, their actions make sense not on the individual level, but on the global one a recurrent topic is the sacrifice for the comrades in arms, or the Motherland. Take “saving private Brian” for example, a well shot movie, but what is the message? In the middle of an important action in a ferocious war, forces are diverted to save an individual, that somehow is more exceptional and worry of rescue that others… compare with “a Soldier’s ballad” or the darker “Ivan Ivanovich’s childhood”, the message us one of self sacrifice, because I the middle of an existential war nobody is exceptional or more worry than another. The war just be won at all costs, because either we won are all saved, or we lose and are all lost.
Sci Fi is also quite different. Take “Solaris” (for which none of the movie adaptations grasped more than a bit of the book’s complexity), or “roadside picnic” of the same authors. While western scifi is about imperialist conquest of other words (or mirroring projection of an alien civilisation much like NATO), the two about Russian book’s do have a big Mistery in them. Interestingly also, one of my favourite western scifi author is Isaac Asimov. Je wrote et n English, indeed, but I think his Russian background permeates on his works.
And if you go to media aimed at children…. Russian ones are way more kind and moral. Compare “Tom and Jerry” and “Haze and Wolf” (nu pogodi), and the wonderful “Masha and the bear”

Just to clarify this important point: I know that the USSR committed genocide e.g. mass killings of Polish officers and intelligentsia. Are you making this a distinction or an omission (as in USSR != Russia)?
Technically it is not genocide according to the classic meaning of the word, but they changed the definition for the Yugoslav Tribunal. The USSR executed many many people but never did they execute women AFAIK. Nazi Germany on the other hand did not make any distinctions.
You seem to be splitting hairs in a legalistic way. I don’t need to be told that it is not genocide because women were not killed, please be serious.

The Russian Air Force today fields some of the world’s most capable combat aircraft, with the second largest fleet of high end heavyweight air superiority fighters and the largest fleet of heavy interceptors. An extensive modernisation program initiated in 2008 sought to comprehensively modernise the service’s capabilities, extensively enhancing Soviet designs from the 1980s to produce sophisticated new variants and derivatives with next generation capabilities and investing in all new airframes such as the Su-57. The development of new sensor technologies, electronic warfare systems, composite materials, engines and air to air missiles have among other systems all been imperative to developing some of the world’s most advanced and sophisticated combat jets. While Russia has also invested heavily in a land based air defence network comprised of over a dozen complementary systems – the densest and most advanced of its kind in the world – the Russian Air Force’s fighters and interceptors nevertheless play a vital role in protecting the country’s airspace and contesting air superiority over enemy airspace in the event of a major war. The capabilities of Russia’s five most potent aircraft in air to air combat are assessed below – and include upgraded Soviet platforms, their enhanced derivatives and an entirely new airframe design – the Su-57.
Su-57 Air Superiority Fighter

Currently fielded in small numbers, the Russian Air Force is expected to deploy at least three squadrons of these elite fighters by the mid 2020s. The fighter is a next generation analogue to the Soviet Su-27 Flanker air superiority fighter, and represents the first completely new post Soviet fighter in Russian service. The aircraft is currently being used as a testbed for sixth generation technologies such as hypersonic missiles, laser weapons and artificial intelligence. The platform integrates an advanced and heavy AESA radar and an IRST, with additional cheek mounted radars for superior situational awareness. Access to active phased array antenna (APAA) guided K-77 air to air missiles with a 197km range, and hypersonic R-37M missiles with a 400km range, combined with its large internal bays which can accommodate up to ten missiles, provide the Su-57 with unrivalled firepower among next generation jets.
The Su-57 saw its first combat deployment in February 2018 when it carried out airstrikes against Islamist insurgent forces in Syria. While highly capable in a strike role, with munitions such as the Kh-47M2 hypersonic ballistic missile and Drel guided bomb, the Su-57 is primarily designed for air superiority. Like its predecessor the Su-27, the fighter can operate at high 20km altitudes and at speeds exceeding Mach 2.2. The Su-57’s airframe is the most manoeuvrable in the world, integrating the most advanced derivative of the three dimensional thrust vectoring system surpassing those of its predecessor the Su-35. The new Russian platform is arguably the most capable fighter in the world in air to air combat, fielding a number of capabilities which the older American F-22 Raptor and even the new Chinese J-20 lack. While the fighter does not prioritise stealth in the same way as Western jets, it more than compensates with other systems including state of the art electronic warfare systems and a distributed laser aperture system which can blind enemy missiles. The Su-57 is the only fighter in the world to integrate such a defence system.
MiG-31BSM Foxhound Interceptor

A heavily enhanced variant of the Soviet Union’s first fourth generation combat jet, which was arguably the most capable of the Cold War, the MiG-31BSM Foxhound began to enter service in the Russian Air Force in 2015. The interceptor carries the heaviest and most powerful radar Russia has ever mass produced for a fighter sized aircraft, the Phazatron Zaslon-AM passively scanned array radar, which with a diameter of 1.4 meters is considerably heavier and stronger than radars on other combat jets. Alongside the unique ability to engage low flying cruise missiles, the radar allows the Foxhound to engage targets up to 400km away and to can track up to 24 targets simultaneously. The MiG-31 was the only aircraft built for air to air combat with a phased array radar for over 20 years, until the Japanese F-2 and American F-22 entered service. Other than the Su-57 which has yet to enter mass production, it remains the platform with the most powerful sensors for air to air combat.
The Foxhound is capable of operating at extreme 21km altitude, the highest of any modern combat jet, and is the fastest modern combat jet in the world capable of exceeding speeds of Mach 2.8. This allows the Foxhound interceptor to impart more kinetic energy onto its air to air missiles than any other aircraft in the world. The aircraft integrates a number of advanced munitions for beyond visual range air to air combat including the 300km range R-33, the 110km range R-77 and more recently the 400km range R-37. While most Russian air to air missiles are restricted to speeds of between Mach 4 and Mach 4.5, the R-37 is hypersonic with a Mach 6 speed. Improvements to the design include a heat resistant glass canopy, new avionics, a Baget-55-06 computer, four multi-functional displays and new navigation equipment. Other than the Su-27 Flanker, the Foxhound is the most numerous combat jet in the Russia fleet. Upgrades to the BSM standard are ongoing.
Su-35 Air Superiority Fighter

The Su-35 entered service in 2014, and was the first new single seat platform to enter mass production since the Su-27 Flanker in 1985 – from which it is closely derived. The fighter‘s airframe benefits from limited applications of stealth technology, with a reduced radar cross section under a third that of the original Flanker. More powerful sensors in the form of a new IRST and the Irbis-E passive electronically scanned array radar are integrated, and the fighter is compatible with new longer ranged missiles including the R-77 and R-27ER/EA with 110km and 130km ranges respectively. The Su-35 has also been equipped for strike or anti shipping roles in the past using advanced standoff munitions such as the Kh-35, though its strength remains in the air superiority role for which it was primarily intended. The fighter made its debut over Syrian skies in early 2016, and was the first combat jet confirmed in Russian service confirmed to have been equipped with the R-77. The aircraft integrates a large 14 missile arsenal, and has a strengthened but lighter airframe with far higher use of composite materials. The fighter’s manoeuvrability is further enhanced by three dimensional thrust vectoring engines, and it remains the only aircraft placed into mass production with such systems. The fighter’s avionics, electronic warfare systems and sensors are all state of the art and comparable to those of fifth generation platforms.
Su-27SM3 Air Superiority Fighter

Where the Su-35 is a heavily enhanced derivative of the Su-27 Flanker design, the Su-27SM2/SM3 is the most advanced variant which updates the design with technologies developed thirty years after its entry into service. With the original Su-27 seeing its capabilities increasingly lag behind rival platforms such as the American F-15C by the mid 2000s, the induction of the SM2/SM3 variant restored the Flanker to its Cold War position as one of the world’s foremost air superiority fighters. The two new variants of the fighter have very similar capabilities, with the Su-27SM2 representing an extensively upgraded and refurbished older aircraft integrating next generation systems while the Su-27SM3 is a newly built fighter which left production lines integrating these systems. To enhance the Flanker’s capabilities its airframe was reinforced to allow for three more tons of armament and additional hardpoints were added to allowing the aircraft to carry up to twelve missiles. New more fuel efficient AL-31F-M1 engines increased the aircraft’s range, while also increasing its manoeuvrability with a greater thrust. The engines also considerably reduced the overhaul time of the fighter, thus increasing its sortie rate. The cockpit was also comprehensively modernised to full glass, with the thirteen Cold War era arrow indicators discarded in favour of four multifunctional displays. A new radio complex was also integrated to facilitate more secure communications.
Perhaps the most significant enhancement to the Su-27 on the Su-27SM2/SM3 variants was the powerful Irbis-E radar – the same as that used by the ‘4++ generation’ Su-35 which entered service in 2014. This radar system is among the most powerful platforms designed for fighter sized aircraft in the world – rivalled in the Russian inventory at the time of its induction only by the MiG-31’s much heavier Phazotron Zaslon passive electronically scanned array radar – and since by AESA radars deployed by next generation fighters. The Irbis-E can detect most fighter sized targets at ranges of over 400 kilometres, and can track up to 30 airborne targets simultaneously ranges engage up to eight. Stealth fighters with lower radar cross sections can reportedly be detected at ranges of little over 80km. While deploying highly similar sensors, avionics and electronic warfare systems to the Su-35, the Su-27SM2 and SM3 lack the newer platform’s lower radar cross section, three dimensional thrust vectoring engines or extensive use of composite materials making their older jet’s airframes heavier and less durable. The aircraft are restricted to a payload of 12 rather than fourteen air to air missies. The Su-27SM2 and SM3 nevertheless remain among the most capable air superiority fighters in the world, and their relatively low cost compared to the Su-35 and MiG-31BSM allows them to be acquired quickly and in large numbers. As an upgrade program for the original Su-27, the SM2 program allows Russia to keep the Flankers which today form the bulk of its fleet viable for modern air to air combat – a far more cost effective solution than retiring them and purchasing new fighters.
MiG-35 Medium Weight Multirole Fighter

A medium weight fighter not specialised for air to air combat, the MiG-35’s advanced capabilities nevertheless place it among Russia’s leading combat platforms. Entering production in late 2018, the MiG-35’s sophistication is surpassed only by the Su-57 – integrating high end technologies developed for the next generation platform onto a lighter airframe designed to prioritise low maintenance requirements and ease of use. These include three dimensional thrust vectoring systems derived from those of the Su-35, high use of composites for a lighter and stronger airframe, a relatively weapons payload of eight missiles, state of the art avionics and electronic warfare systems and an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar. One of just two Russian fighters to deploy an AESA radar, the power of this sophisticated system largely compensates for the small size of the radar that the fighter can carry relative to heavier fighters such as the Su-27 to provide excellent situational awareness. The fighter is also reportedly compatible with K-77 air to air missiles designed for the Su-57, which are extremely difficult to evade even near their range limits and retain a 193km engagement range. Ultimately while the MiG-35 was designed as a lighter and less costly complement to the Su-57, largely with export sales in mind, it remains highly formidable despite its lighter weight and lower operational altitude due to the sophistication of the technologies it integrates. Perhaps the fighter’s most attractive feature, however, is its operational cost – which at under a fifth that of its predecessor the MiG-29 makes it little over a tenth of the cost of the Flanker to fly per hour.
From reading your writings for some time I’ve seen that you’re familiar with John Romanides, so am I correct in thinking that you and I have similar thoughts as regards to the Roman identity being deliberately suppressed? My thinking is that it has been/is in order to:

Do you consider the possibility that if the West suffers a fall or a severe weakening of the position it holds (at least with the EU, I partly agree with you), and considering that it is the West (mostly) that is behind the identity bending and reality distortion, that we may see a re-Romanisation of the eastern Mediterranean and not just a complete domination of the region by the Persians?

My feeling is that the West is in hubris state. Old Greek considered it as the worst possible sin and we are fully in it. Connecting again with truth would be highly useful here. I feel bad for my world and myself

Good analysis and great examples! My own experience as a foreign graduate student in the US is replete with analogous anecdotes. For starters, I was shocked to learn that a bachelor’s degree was considered to be a “final” degree, unlike Europe at the time. Given the general difference in academic requirements between a US bachelor’s degree and a continental European equivalent, I found this truly amazing. The US was a good place for certain master’s and PhD programs, if only because courses were imparted by some excellent professors and there were impressive library holdings (not seldom looted during the “Liberation” of Europe, 1944-1945). European education at the primary and secondary levels was also vastly superior to what most US schools offered.
The difference between (continental) Europe and the US is and has always been a psychological one, perhaps also physiological, as Franz Boas would argue. Americans seem mentally unable to understand they are not automatically number one in any endeavour. Most of the material culture that sustains modern life was NOT invented in the US or by Americans. The average American is just not capable of understanding this simple reality. Americans believe they are congenitally inventive, innovative and original, and more so than any other nation in the world. The handful of Americans that think otherwise (Gore Vidal, Ezra Pound, etc) are duly vilified by their compatriots, as Tocqueville already pointed out some two centuries ago.

He has published various works on US history and politics, but these works have never been translated into English.
I think they are very interesting works, which perhaps could also be of interest to a non-Italian audience.

I think Europe can have a fair future economically and otherwise. The hatred of Russia is an elite thing – the propaganda is so pervasive, the clique owns all media and even higher education. The US is the problem – it has provoked many economic crises and hardships in Europe the last 50+ years.
