Alone with my thoughts this evening
I walked on the banks of Tyne
I wondered how I could win you
Or if I could make you mine
Or if I could make you mine
The wind it was so insistent
With tales of a stormy south
But when I spied two birds in a sycamore tree
There came a dryness in my mouth
Came a dryness in my mouth
For then without rhyme or reason
The two birds did rise up to fly
And where the two birds were flying
I swear I saw you and I
I swear I saw you and I
I walked out this morning
It was like a veil had been removed from before my eyes
For the first time I saw the work of heaven
In the line where the hills had been married to the sky
And all around me
Every blade of singing grass
Was calling out your name
And that our love would always last
And inside every turning leaf
Is the pattern of an older tree
The shape of our future
The shape of all our history
And out of the confusion
Where the river meets the sea
Came things I’d never seen
Things I’d never seen
I was brought to my senses
I was blind but now that I can see
Every signpost in nature
Said you belong to me
I know it’s true
It’s written in a sky as blue
As blue as your eyes
As blue as your eyes
If nature’s red in tooth and claw
Like winter’s freeze and summer’s thaw
The wounds she gave me
Were the wounds that would heal me
And we’d be like the moon and sun
And when our courtly dance had run
Its course across the sky
Then together we would lie
And out of the confusion
Where the river meets the sea
Something new would arrive
Something better would arrive
I was brought to my senses
I was blind but now that I can see
Every signpost in nature
Said you belong to me
I was brought to my senses
I was blind but now that I can see
Every signpost in nature
Said you belong to me…
Really beautiful, I did not know this theme, thanks, Saker.
I hope you are fine.
I was on my way to the cafe
When I was stung by your song
I had a good night’s sleep
Like rising from the dead
Like the icon of Jesus rising
On my right out of the tomb
Into the womb of nature’s day
Sunny today after days of gloom
In the joy of morning’s mourning
I grow somber at the work ahead
I was going to ignore the empire
But now strengthened by sleep
And your kind surprising gift
I think I will go into the lion’s den
Bringing all your love to him
That your icon gave to me
Not 100% sure what this song is about [I admit], but on a quick examination of the lyrics, to me it sounds like there’s a connection between this song and the creepy, stalker in ‘Every Breath you Take.’
“I Was Brought to My Senses
I wondered how I could win you
Or if I could make you mine
Or if I could make you mine”
Sounds awfully similar [in spirit] to Every Breath you Take:
“Oh, can’t you see? You belong to me [..]”
He even goes out and re-say it in these lyrics too:
“I was blind but now that I can see
Every signpost in nature
Said you belong to me”
^ This is the same guy who wrote a tongue-in-cheek [as if it’s a laughing matter *eye-roll*] song about a teacher having pedophilic thoughts about a student in: Don’t Stand so Close to Me.
I’d say about Sting, enjoy the music, he is indeed a great musician obviously inspired by Jazz music [which is always a plus, not to mention quite rare], but ignore whatever else he says [just like any sane person would ignore anything coming out of Bono’s mouth], either in interviews or his lyrics. The guy’s ethics are dodgy to say the least, I’m afraid.
No wonder him and Stewart Copeland locked horns so often in creative issues and other issues too no doubt… :/

PS: Big fan of Copeland, btw. He’s one of the most underrated drummers of our time. His high-hat craftsmanship is flawless, and I know for a fact, most non closed-minded drummers recognize this :)
“I Was Brought to My Senses,” yeah *eye-roll*… I’m sure you did; Mr Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner [also known as Sting]… :/
Yes, I love his “Every breath you take” btw. It’s probably the best song that will fit the NSA !!!!

I prefer the studio version though.
So….I gather someone is in LOOVE…got shitfaced….or didn’t do the dishes…:)
Err, isn’t “life” sad enough already?
If contrast is as good as different taste, then the following might be a good addition to this thread. If not, then I was wrong.

Martin, your suggestion (2016/05/22 at 8:30 am) to Saker and Scott about an article, has been forwarded to them.
ok, tnx for the info :)
well….I’ve been brought to my senses a couple of times…never so poetically as put by Sting, but the result is about the same…it makes able to see clear. Really beautiful. Lots of thx
And then he lost his senses because he’s backing Hillary for President.
@ Aaron Talka
^ OUCH!
LoL!

PS: Not surprising though [considering his ‘kind’]… he’s no doubt part of the liberal ‘wankerati’ too… [donno, I haven’t checked the 250 names on the list, but I would be shocked if he’s not there]
