IMO the near complete blackout of events in Ukraine by MSM is explained by an inability to come to terms with the nearing collapse of Kiev. Current reality in no way fits the meme presented to the world just a few months ago. By not taking the carefully prepared trap set for Russia, the west media is at a loss as how to respond; i guess the presenters are just waiting around for their scripts to come in. Just imagine if someone came to me and said, We’d like to put some Grad rocket effects in a harmless amateur video. Is that hard to do?
I’d say, what’s your budget and how many hours do I have, how many copies do you want.
So, though this is the real thing. Fireball effects, smoke, et al that you see could be easily done. I’ve used fireball effects in tunnels on roller coaster motion simulation films, and smoke and explosions is like tying your shoes.
But what do I know. Just some Oscars, nominations, and 800 productions over the years.
War stuff is the easiest to do, enhance, cheat.
I’m sure this is the real thing. But, when I don’t see the original, I just don’t take it for real.
In other words, if someone wanted to use a video for some propaganda purposes, the original is what you look for. Trace back the phone camera or whatever they used and show the time/date of the file.
It might be militia inside Russia not Russians.

I follow Tymchuk’s daily fairy tales, and he has not acknowledged the southern cauldron disaster at all. I think he’s semi-official. I’m under the impression that the junta has not officially acknowledged it either. It’s probably scared of how its public would react if it were told. The Western sponsors of the junta are probably withholding information about the cauldron from their publics because they want to support the junta’s efforts to withhold this info from the Ukrainian public.
The Western media could have reported the horrible civilian casualties, falsely painting the Novorossians as their perpetrators. The junta certainly did that at home. I don’t know why the Western media didn’t do that. In fact it’s hardly reporting on this war.

The conflict is going urban after major ‘losses” by the resistance. The article says:

Here’s the official line discounting what seem to be resistance victories:
Matthew Clements, an analyst with security affairs consultancy HIS, said Ukraine may, instead of entering Donetsk and Luhansk, surround the cities, “cut the separatists off from supplies of fighters and equipment, and undertake gradual operations against the cities and suburbs in an effort to wear the separatists down.”
“Taking the fight into…cities” means Ukraine’s army won’t be able to pulverize Donetsk or Lugansk enough to cause a resistance evacuation.
“Gradual operations” suggested by the expert means that the ill trained troops, fighting in an urban environment that they not equipped or trained to fight in, will make little, if any, progress for a very long time.
If the reports here are correct, the Associated Press article is just a temporary band aid to cover up a rout in progress in the cauldron.
I’d very much like to see peace in Ukraine and an end to the assault on Donbass and other areas by the government of the people who live in those areas. Let’s hope that a Ukraine Army defeat will end the assault and begin an eviction of the Nazi government in Kiev.

The area looks like farmland both sides of the border. The border bisects some fields. If the border isn’t marked with a fence, how would somebody know they crossed it if they were not a local? My guess is a Novorussian missile battery, or two, fired from the area of the border, possibly in two locations, at banderivtsy southwest of Панченкове.

The absence of news in the MSM about recent events in the SE Lugansk region if very interesting. It means either that what Saker is reporting is a major exaggeration or that there is a news black out in the west. It is hard to imagine that one lonely blogger would discover this story before the rest of the world. We should know in the next day or so. It will be very hard for the Ukrainians to hide the loss of 5000 troops if that is what we are seeing.

Alex Bukovsky: MRLS GRAD filmed from Gukovo, Russia
The distance from the pool where the cameras are to the Ukraine border is 3.3 km. Ukraine@war puts the GRAD position only 1.5 km away – without doing any analysis. Alex Bukovsky estimates them to be 5 km away.
It is possible to estimate the exact distance. First you need to calculate the camera angle when zoomed in to the tele position. In the first video you see two utility poles on the other side of the pond. The distance between the poles is 54.5 meters; the distance to them is 205 meters. If we know the physical size of any object or event in the background we can calculate the distance.
From Ghouta CW massacre research I remember that the burn time of a 122 mm GRAD rocket is about two seconds. Wikipedia says its speed (“muzzle velocity”) is 690 m/s. One could thus estimate that the streaks of light coming from the rockets are about 1 km long. To get an better estimate one would have to compare this to other GRAD footage. The visible streaks of light seem to be less wide then the distance between the poles, putting the the event 4 km away. However, the flight times of the fireballs seem to be less then 2 second, meaning that the streaks are less then 1 km and the firing nearer. To get an exact figure one needs to plot the fireballs frame by frame and calculate the exact speed.

Even if the GRADs were fired form the Russian side of the border it does not tell us who was firing or whose GRADs they were. There is no border fence and hardly any demarcation on the border. (Why would there be? In fact, there is no natural border or anything between Lviv and Moscow where one could say Ukraine ends and Russia starts.)
President Putin asked the Russian people to help the people of Novorossiya. I am sure the people at the border are doing all they can to help.

There is as yet no information about casualties; some people have been evacuated (there is a refugee camp near the border). Observers are noting that up to 20 common and resuscitation ambulances have moved out toward the place of the shelling, which suggests casualties. There is of course no military purpose or significance to these shillings; the impotent rage of the executioners suffering defeat is understandable, considering, of course that they won’t remain near the border for much longer.
I have seen this same video attributed to the Novorossiyans on one site. I seriously doubt the Russians would give this much away.

Most MSM are owned by a handful of corporations to begin with, but more importantly, all the “reporters” basically copy whatever “information” they receive from the designated sources. Then they use each other as corroborating sources. Then they quoted each others’ corroborations as proof. Presto, consensus.
The astonishing disjunction between real events in the Ukraine and nonsense in the US press is illustrated by the AP article M Michael Collins cites. The writer might as well be discussing events on the moon.
Three things are now evident: (1)After months of crying wolf “The Russians are responsible” the western press seems incapable of grasping that the wolf has really arrived. Some time very early this month, with Putin conveniently kissing hands in Latin America, the sell out people in Moscow have been pushed aside and real assistance has begun to flow from Russia to the resistance. I can’t imagine the resistance mounting attacks involving up to ten tanks and reaching near parity in artillery, without a flush of equipment and (very likely) technical people from across the border.
(2) The military situation along the Russian border is now critical for the junta. One brigade, the 24 mechanized, has virtually disintegrated, the 72 is little better. at least half of the 5000 or so men trapped in along the border–whether they straggle out or not–are finished militarily. The 79th airborne and a couple of desperate battalions (who can expect little quarter)will be finished as well if the do succeed in breaking through the Marinavka bloc in the next 24-48 hours.
The junta still has powerful forces north of Luganst city, but their drive to break the siege of Lugansk airport has misfired. About 40 tanks broke through the siege ring, but were predictably unable to maintain a supply corridor and are faced with the prospect either breaking back out or holding on in the hope of a renewed succor. With the junta drive against Krasnodon southeast of Lugansk having failed and forces in the northern outskirts on the defensive, this looks unlikely. This situation is equally cheerless around Donetsk where the radio tower at the airport, used for guiding para=dropped supplies, having been destroyed. At the same time, guerrilla action further west and sorties by the Mosgovoi organization are intensifying.
(3) These events have precipitated a sea change in the political situation. Instead of trying to negotiate a “soft” surrender for the resisting oblasts, the sell out people in Moscow and various Uke and Russian oligarchs are shilling for an agreement with the resistance under which they get the Lugansk and Donetsk in return for an a treaty leaving the other six Russian speaking oblasts under Kiev control.
Given that guerrilla warfare in Kharkov is already beginning and is virtually certain to spread south. and that the core resistance leaders have sworn to go all the way to Kiev, this seems like a non-starter. A military coup, however, a a brand new resistance in the west may not be a non-starter.
And the the western press goes blindly on.

I checked the map. This place is right in the middle od a zig-zag border and it is plain impossible to say from which side of it the rockets were fired.
I would bet on the surrounded Ukies, since the border provide them kinda cover, the Resistance not wanting to risk a loose shot inside Russia.
