Russia continues surprising the West with new weapons. According to recent reports, Russian engineers develop a jammer missile called Alabuga. Rumor has it that this weapon will be able to completely neutralize enemy without even opening fire at its forces. This weapon produces a very strong radio electric impact, the power of which is comparable to the power of a nuclear explosion.
The missile can literally disable all enemy weapons and military equipment, including missiles, missile defense systems, ships and tanks, as well as any type of air, sea and ground military hardware. The Alabuga missile causes all microcircuits to come out of order. In fact, the military hardware and equipment will simply freeze in place, whereas aircraft and missiles will fall down to the ground like rocks.
It is believed that the Alabuga will become the most powerful prospective radio-electric bomb that will be able to deactivate and immobilize the entire combat power of the enemy completely.
The idea of a bomb that, without destroying the environment, could deactivate all of the military equipment and weapons of the enemy is not new. In 2001, the “Ranets” complex was introduced in Russia. The word “ranets” translates into English as “backpack.” The weapon looked more like a radio station than a radio-electric weapon. It was a movable system that could strike enemy equipment at a distance of up to 40 km.
The Alabuga is being developed by most advanced enterprises in the field of defence technology. There are no details about the project. It is believed, however, that the missile will be able to fly up for 300-400 meters to deactivate all military equipment and weapons within the range of four kilometers.
The United States has been developing a similar technology since 2012. The goal is to create a weapon that could hit the enemy and give total advantage over enemy forces. Yet, the USA has never presented any real system yet. The Alabuga is not a lethal missile, nor does it lead to victims when it explodes. Specialists believe that such weapons may change the strategy of wars of the future entirely.

The soviets were far ahead of the West in high power microwave devices, and have been for a long time. Anyone interested in this topic can research the second Space Shuttle mission.
Interesting development. I wonder if the famous incident of the usn destroyer donald? cook, that was sailing off Crimea a few years ago (2014?), and was claimed to have been temporarily blacked out from the Su aircraft, was used as a guinea pig for this, or related tech?
vot tak
I kind of suspect that the guinea pig testing had long been done already, secretly, and that this was a calculated move to begin to reveal the true military capability of Russia.
It was worth revealing what the Khibiny system could do in order to warn the US out of any Black Sea adventurist fantasies.
Similarly, a year or so earlier, it was worth bringing down the two US cruise missiles launched from Spain towards Syria, in order to defeat any US strategies based on a false measure of its stand-off capability against Syria.
I think these two incidents were the early steps of Russia’s increased attempts to get through the thick skull of the US just how dangerous it is to mess with Russia. And now it’s even reached the point of announcing weapons before they exist.
My two cents, but I think from what we see universally with regard to development of military weapons, that they tend to have been around quite a bit longer than when we first learn about them. So for Russia to announce now what it intends with its “jammer missile” suggests that, if it’s not already close to completion, it is at least far ahead of any rivals.
Russia gains a strategic advantage simply by releasing this information now – it will hopefully chill the Pentagon even more.
Grieved,
You are on the right path of thinking about Russia’s motives and methods.
Look at Putin’s recent offer to the US to buy Russian hypersonic missiles. That was to balance nuclear threats so a senseless arms race does not go forward, as planned by the US MIC.
And, almost simultaneously, the report that Putin warned the US two days before 9-11 that the attack was coming.
Putin has offered Intel to the US about terrorism many times.
Warnings are pro forma Russian policy. Sometimes the warnings are actual demonstrations of capabilities. Sometimes they are in speeches Putin or other officials deliver, and sometimes the warnings are reports in the Media.
Hell, the US is behind on 5G tech, behind on Quantum Communications, behind on hypersonic technology, so trailing badly on EW is par for the course.
Good. The world is one tiny bit safer. God bless the Russian scientists and technologists building weapons to defeat the Hegemon.
seems the perfect weapon to kick off US from Syria
I am finding it very likely that Estonia that sank on the Baltic in 94 carried some version of Russian EMP weapon, possibly with a radioactive charge – recall the strong interest in buriying the wreck in cement, the strong security over the wreck and evidence that material has been removed from the car deck under water.
Hmmm, sounds like an EMP burst. Except, if it is, it will likely destroy civilian electronics but not military electronics. For quite some time, military gear is hardened to survive a nuclear war and its associated EMP bursts. A nuclear explosion in the atmosphere (at any altitude) creates an EMP burst. And the military has been preparing to fight in such an environment for decades. But the effect will be quite devastating on civilian electronics in the area as everything electronic, include cars, stops working. But who knows, maybe this is a Super-EMP designed to destroy military electronics, at least until they become more hardened as a counter-measure. Maybe they’ve got something that actually does put out a stronger EMP than a 20 megaton fusion bomb.
The Americans have a system that is similar. It can stall out running vehicles at is simplest application. Can’t tell you any more than that.
There is difference between ford fiesta and uss donald cook unless the matter is presented by Hollywood or jen psaki.
Simple fact that West’s MIC goal is financial rather than functionality of the product tells a lot.
Military electronic is subject to ruggedizing since first use of it by military. I wouldn’t be surprised if RF armed forces electronic equipment still uses electronic tubes in few applications.
Just saying

This is why most military Russians fighters don’t fly by wires. They’re smarter than the US that way. All their fighter planes can land on sand and gravel roads with.no damage to their engines. Us is strong by the numbers where Russia is strong using their brains. Look who make the best sophisticated games right now, the Russians, for god sake the US is training their troops on tanks with a Russian game.
