    Pay back Time.
President Putin has made a home run with his counter sanctions against the west.
His new decree is directed against foreign shareholders Especially affecting Banksters.

Foreign Investors can no longer influence Board decisions within Russian Corporations.

Today a number of high Ukrainian officials resigned – a corruption scandal.

“Corruption scandal”? – big surprise. The US Congress made a great effort to keep the funds that they were sending to Ukraine unaudited.

What unites Sierra Leone, Zambia and Ukraine? The corruption. Now it will be a big problem for President Zelensky to convince Western partners to continue economic support for his proxy war. The scandal that led to the arrests of top government leaders in Kiev was hardly unexpected. After all, his trusted men have acted with the same method that has distinguished the Ukrainian president for years.
Let’s see the international data. According to Transparency International, the corruption problem is extremely serious in the country led by Zelensky. In the ranking drawn up out of 179 countries, where Denmark is in first place as the least corrupt country in the world, Kiev ranks 117th, between Sierra Leone and Zambia. Among the latest cases in the news, that of Anastasia Kotvitska, the wife of a former Ukrainian parliamentarian stopped at the border with 31 million in cash in various suitcases. Why is the Kovitsky case so important? He is one of the richest businessmen in Ukraine and was also a parliamentarian in the ten years for the anti-Russian nationalist force People’s front, before it was supplanted in the hearts of Ukrainian voters by the list founded in 2018 by Zelensky

Kovitsky was one of the acolytes of former interior minister Arsen Avakov who remained in office for a decade, also among the richest men in Ukraine. Avakov was also interior minister in the Shmyhal government, but in 2020 he resigned after a few months of office. A criminal investigation is open on Kovitsky’s wife.
According to what emerged from the journalistic investigation into the Pandora Papers, which in October 2021 revealed the hidden wealth of world political leaders and entrepreneurs, the Ukrainian president Zelensky and his associates would have controlled a network of offshore companies based in the British Virgin Islands, Cyprus and Belize to manage the business in the entertainment and film branch. Serhiy Shefir, Zelensky’s current adviser who survived an attack, is also involved in the affair: he allegedly bought real estate in London through offshore companies. In 2019, on the eve of the elections in Ukraine, Zelensky sold his shares to Shefir, but the two would later conclude a deal that would allow the family of the head of state to continue receiving funds from offshore companies. The current Ukrainian president carried out his election campaign in 2019 with the message of “cleansing” the country of corruption. But he’s not the right man. Not only for the crisis that broke out today.

According to the reconstruction of the Pandora Papers, the network of companies in tax havens would have been set up by Zelensky and his partners in the television production company Kvartal 95 already in 2012.
Now Zelensky has to answer to the Ukrainian people and the Western community. The scandal involves the political and judicial spheres. Overwhelmed by the scandal, Deputy Prosecutor General Oleksiy Simonenko also leaves his post. But, according to the Ukrainian media, the Kiev government will also have to decide on the possible dismissal of the 5 heads of the regional state administrations of Dnepropetrovsk (Valentin Reznichenko, who would have asked first to leave), Zaporozhye (Alexander Starukh), Kiev (Aleksey Kuleba ), Sumy (Dmitry Zhyvitsky) and Kherson (Yaroslav Yanushevich).

My gut feeling is the entire Zelensky elite is about to cut and run with the money. Where they go I very hard to guess as the US political class actually is closer to a Mafia operation than a Democracy. As such, they are going to want what Zelensky et.al, have stolen back in their pockets and will hunt them down like the dogs they are. Really, they should cut their own throats now and save time although it will be entertaining to watch all the suicides, falls out of windows, plane crashes, etc. that slowly take them all out. Epstein learned this the hard way and he had a lot of leverage against them. I quote from Disney “Dead men tell no tales”.

Former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is residing in the UAE.
Perhaps Zel and his cabinetry will become very close neighbors.

We hope you are correct. However, if you live in the US and have repeatedly witnessed the immense political, financial and military of NEO-Cons, like Victoria Nuland and her ilk, all those crazed ‘neo-cons’ would rather have Russia destroyed before anyone like Z would ever be allowed to escape from their very tenacious claws.

Of the $122 billion (+) I reckon 30% has saw its way to Ukraine. Of the 30% half was redirected (off-shore + luxury real estate in Euroland/other). Of the 15% that made its way to the battlefield most of that’s been smoked.

Long Ukrainian graveside flags, who’s got that contract? I know Poroshenko has a funeral service business so he must be raking in the money buying up land to accommodate the plethora of new clients.

When I invest, I want the company to thrive, and I pick them based on my judgment of their opportunity, ability and willingness to do so. I want to make money because the company makes money.

Others invest because they want to control what the company does. Some of those don’t always want to make money, or want to make money from something that occurs if the company fails. For example, someone might buy into a Russian arms manufacturer, and try to get the company to convert production to making flower pots. Such investors would hope to profit by plundering a defeated Russia, and closing munitions works is simply the ante.

Of course Russia needs to protect against this.

If I held Russian shares, I would expect this, and it would not harm me.

BTW: Is there a way for an American to buy Russian shares now? Or has this become illegal?

Sweet. I love the measured response. Removing the negative influence, while at the same time keeping the motivation open for normalization of relations country to country.

    • iread on January 25, 2023  ·  at 3:11 pm EST/EDT

I love the measured response too; surely in the court of global public opinion esp had it come more promptly on the heels of the sanctions in the declaration of unprecedented economic warfare it might have seized the global high ground as eminently liberal and fair. PCR’s point that timing is everything still lurks in the background and that because Martin Armstrong is correct in that market, economics, whatever you call it, is and always has been
a global affair. (My citing of these gentlemen in no way intended to claim their assent to my presumptions.) Therefore I worry that if we utterly crash in the West, and everyone says that is coming, in a way that the Russians do, and the Europeans surely should, understand; we could tear a hole in the net; a bleeding beast of humanity rotting on the floor of once viable aspirations that others now better carry for us. What bitter irony, what hell. In any case I still hope even I can bring to market some offering, some parity, some marble, to weigh in the net of things to rock around the clock past midnight and wake up to the coffee with my compatriots to hear Putin still saying, “Howdi partner.”
