Thanks to our brother in arms Tatzhit Mihailovich I can share with you today a very interesting segment of the show Post Scriptum. This show is rather unique in that it is presented by Aleksei Pushkov, who is not only a member of the Russian Duma, but also the Head of the Duma’s Foreign Affairs committee and, in my opinion, a strong candidate to eventually replace Foreign Minister Lavrov. In this show, Pushkov paints a devastating picture of the true nature of the Ukronazis in the West and in the Ukraine.
The Saker
On the subject of censorship, I was watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pXPgK9Pld8
AU Moscow 2015 Part 1 (US Russia Forum) and heard the deputy Russian Ambassador say one could probably not buy a copy of Mein Kampf in Russia
http://www.reuters.com/article/2010/03/26/us-russia-hitler-ban-idUSTRE62P1K420100326
Russia banned Mein Kampf in 2010 due to extremists using it.
I note in this article it is also against the law to distribute in Germany except under special circumstances.
I can understand the reasoning behind this sort of censorship, but I think it’s mistaken and does not help the situation — especially since it’s easy enough to read it from ‘underground’ sources such as the internet. I think a better approach would to have a national television program critiquing the book and the ideas, along with the history of what Nazi ideology led to. Better education, and meeting the evil straight on is the better solution, I think, and forewarned is forearmed.
This is not the same class of problem, of course, as banning a musician, but it seems to me that a general policy of open availability, discussion, and knowledge shows a proper respect for the judgement and intelligence of people and is more effective — and also makes for better political positions in fighting fascism, or other nasty things.
Yes, in Russia the anti-Nazi censorship is taken to the extreme sometimes. E.g. Nazi toy soldiers are on occasion taken away from shops (people ask “What, now we have to play strategy games where Soviets are killing Soviets?”), pics with Nazi symbols online (i.e. tank with swastika) are targeted once in a while, even if they have no propaganda purpose.
Not like it’s a big issue though, and seems to be excesses by a few officials, rather than a country-wide all-inclusive campaign.
I actually think its a good thing … censorship isn’t always bad …. you don’t think sexual propaganda for children is bad….why do you think nazism should be allowed to proliferate…with all the american NGO’s in russia ?
Are you serious Ann? Let me supply you with a PoV different from your own:
Because Ann, everyone should have an opportunity to read how sick evil and twisted Hitler was. We need to see for ourselves just what state of mind that man had – in his own words-, and.., what kind of twisted hateful ideology appealed to the Germans as well as the insecure imbeciles in today’s Neo-nazi movement.
We don’t need some simple-minded Nanny State or ignorant small minded vacuous individuals (such as uneducated bureaucrat) deciding that we adults cannot handle discerning information for ourselves.
I think you should also realize that your comparing the legimate Russian law to protect young childrenfrom sexualizing and deviant propaganda with a law banning adults from examining the original source material that gave rise to the 3rd Reich is distorted. Are you suggesting adults should be treated like vulnerable impressionable children? Or are you suggesting that vulnerable impressionable children should be exposed to adult material?
I’m suggesting that neo-liberalism is trash. And can be banned if the country so chooses. total tolerance is neo-liberalism…and is very harmful. why can’t people have their own nuclear weapons too ?
Do you think that if you read Mein Kampf you will become a Nazi?
Wow!
None of this content is really new to us.
But to have it done by the Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee — clearly indicates that Russia (and Putin) know exactly what is going on. That is good to see confirmed.
There are always people for who is “somthing” new.
Pushkov says
Another insanity of the Kiev government….
It would be far better if he says
Another insaniti of the pro-American regime in Kiev…
Why do the Russian learn slowly?
They dont. Everyone in russia knows this but its not polite to say it out loud because Europeans will throw hissy fits when they hear it.
to once nazi…hey guy, what about the american continent…why are you so critical of Russia ?
It looks like the US is giving the SBU the OK to crush dissent:
http://doubtingsteven.blogspot.com/2015/04/us-department-of-state-nalyvaichenko.html
“Judging by the report of the USA ambassador in Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt addressed to Secretary of State John Kerry, Washington plans to rely mainly on forceful structures in Ukraine to correct the mistakes already done. The first in this list is the chief of the State Security Service of Ukraine Nalyvaichenko.
Pyatt is strongly worried by the struggle started to share economy spheres between regional business elites and Kyiv with its control over some regions gradually shrinking. Further, the ambassador makes it clear that there’s an urgent need now in some measures to hamper decentralization of power and total loss of Kiev’s influence on oligarchic representatives. He also points to the danger of this struggle transforming into a hot phase involving armed units. Such developments may result in disintegration of Ukraine as a state and loss of the regional gains achieved by Americans in a really hard struggle. And so, Washington is set, even being fully aware of the risks to the image of Ukraine, to launch the plan already available aimed at ensuring ‘forced’ transfer of power to SBU chief Nalyvaichenko.
In other words, controlled military coup in Ukraine is of vital need for Americans interested in introduction of emergency measures to ‘temporally’ limit the functions of democratic institutions, including president, government and parliament so that not to fully lose control over the social and political processes in the country.”
I wonder how this film will be handled with the censorship by a country that is crying out to have its own “heros”: From a February 20 2015 article.
http://russia-insider.com/en/culture/2015/02/20/3681
“The minister noted that Battle For Sevastopol was also expected to be given a massive release in Ukraine, where it would appear “on about 3,000 screens”.
It “seems like” the film would be shown in Ukraine, he said, noting that the producers were “terrified” by the potential consequences of the release. Originally shot in the Russian language, the film would be dubbed into Ukrainian to be shown in that country, he added.
The shooting of Battle For Sevastopol was launched on the Crimean peninsula in autumn 2013, before anti-government protests in Kiev began. The film was due to become the first major co-production project between the two countries.
Set against the backdrop of the 1941-44 Siege of Sevastopol, the film centers on the life of legendary Soviet sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko, also known for her visit to the United States and Canada as part of a delegation in 1942, and her calls for the Allies to take a more active role in the war against Nazi Germany.”
From Wiki: Lyudmila Pavlichenko: Credited with 309 kills, she is regarded as the most successful female sniper in history. Born in Bila Tserkva (a city in central Ukraine, the largest city in Kiev Oblast.[1] Bila Tserkva is located on the Ros’ River approximately 80 km (50 mi) south of Kiev) on July 12, 1916, Pavlichenko (née Belova) moved to Kiev with her family at the age of fourteen. There she joined a DOSAAF shooting club and developed into an amateur sharpshooter, while working as a grinder at the Kiev Arsenal factory.[3] In 1937, as a student of Kiev University she completed a masters degree in history, focusing on the life of Bohdan Khmelnytsky..
I haven’t of course seen the movie yet.But from what I’ve heard about her and from her history I think she was very pro-Soviet.So it will take some doing for the new nazis in Kiev to be able to rewrite that history (though I’m sure they are trying).According to the “laws” the hyena’s have passed she would be arrested or murdered in today’s Ukraine for the uniform, medals, statements she made. And certainly for her fighting against the nazis for the USSR during the war.Today’s “Ukrainans” have spit on their past and their grandparents sacrifice. They are unworthy to live in the world their grandparents fought and died to save.Russians make a horrible error to tolerate nazism in Ukraine. One,that if not corrected will bite them in the ass soon. The victims of the Great Patriotic War are looking down at their descendants.Nodding with approval at those supporting Novorossia. and weeping tears of disgust for those that don’t.And who stand by while Russians are suffering.Thinking, why did we sacrifice just to see our grandsons today deny their nation.
thanks Saker for posting this…I wish Canada was so pro-active in truth…I’m so ashamed of Canadian gov/media….how did this happen ?/ Its a criminal take-over. But there has always been a lack of national culture in Canada and now we see what can happen in a post- Christian country.
