Looks like the Imperial High Command has been totally caught off guard by the events in Gaza. Now, a former Israeli IDF Intelligence Deputy Chief – General (ret) Yaakov Amidror says that “Hamastan in Gaza” would endanger all of Israel while the IHT reports that the Bush Administration is considering “accepting the Hamas takeover of Gaza“. While this might lead a naive person to conclude that the White House is accepting the endangerment of all of Israel, this really goes to show that the Imperial leaders have developed no common response to the events in Gaza yet. And that, in turn, proves that the recent developments were a surprise of them and that neither the Israeli nor the US intelligence community has any true understanding of what is going on in Palestine.
Predictably – some already blame Al-Qaeda for the events in Gaza while others blame Iran.
I suspect that we will soon hear more statements blaming “foreign fighters” for the Imperial debacle in Gaza. Clearly, the Neocons are clueless as to what to do next.
You have to wonder what would happen if they just supported the democraticallly elected government of Palestine, regardless of who was in it. The fact that they didn’t, speaks volumes for the actual intentions of the western powers.
Appointing a former World Bank official is kind of ironic isn’t it, considering the state of the Palestinian banking system, or lack thereof.
Bush should’ve learned from the Maliki debacle that you need leaders in these countries that can be trusted, are strong and have lived the peoples’ struggle in order to maintain order and a semblance of government.
Haniyeh has lived it, Abbas has not.
Abbas is what Maliki is, propped up because he’s weak and will do what he’s told, not because he’s a leader which shows you the west doesn’t want leaders in this region of the world, they want people they can bribe and push around, the people be damned…..
Agreed. And the same goes for Siniora and Karzai. None of them would last 5min in power without the total propping up the Empire provides for them.
I would also add that the whole state of Israel is propped up by US imperialism, and “IF” the huge amounts of money spent on maintaining that racist state were removed, then Israel would financially collapse very quickly. Then all the benefits offered to Israeli workers to bind them economically and ideologically to that state would also collapse with it.
yep. and not only that, but the Israelis might start having second thoughts when they realize that besides Tuvalu, Palau and Micronesia nobody has anything but disgust for their policies…
