Finally! Al-Jazeera has announced that Mubarak stepped down.
This is a ABSOLUTELY HUGE moral victory for the Egyptian people and a major joy for all those worldwide who oppose the USraelian Empire.
Now, on a note of caution, Mubarak gone does not mean regime change yet. Hopefully, the people of Egypt will now press their advantage and give the boot to Suleiman and the rest of them!
Congrats Saker,
From what I have seen and learned, the Egyptian people are very aware about needing complete regime Change and they are also very aware about all the Machinations surrounding Egypt and the Region right now. I trust them to do the right thing… It will take time and it might be messy for a while…but they will succeed soon enough. All the instincts are there for sure.
Watch out SINAI, Suez and Rafah area, Al-Arich, Charm, Taba… very carefully for reactions from the Empire…
Cheers,
Joe
If a democratic government came to power in Egypt what happens to Gaza? Israel will of course lobby Washington to demand that whatever government emerges sticks to the terms of the Camp David Treaty. But what about the Rafah crossin? If Cairo opens it and sends in enough aid to end the malnutrition Israel will doubtless claim that weapons are being smuggled in or that Egypt is turning a blind eye to the tunnels and send the Israeli army in to seal the border. Expect a major crisis.
It’s possible that the new government will decide they’ve enough trouble at home, their first duty is to the Egyptian people and they can’t afford trouble with Israel and Washington. If so Gaza will be abandoned.
@Joe – CONGRATS TO YOU TOO!!
@Robert: my guess if that if they change the puppet in power nothing will change for Gaza. But if they achieve *regime change* then any even vaguely democratic and representative government will open the border go Gaza – any decent Arab or Muslim would do that, only a total scumbag would agree to collaborate in the Israeli slow-motion genocide in Gaza.
FINALLY and it happened on 11022011 (not the US but the rest of the world’s way of writing the date). :-)
I was soooo worried, like millions like me. now comes the hard part but i think they will be okay.
