Hi Al-Kaftarbaz, yes.
Much of what I write and post here undergoes rewrites, hence the
re-appearance of some work from time to time. I’ve just noticed for
example, that in the latest re-write I’ve used the word ‘succeed’ twice
in both line 3 of stanza 3 and 4, which I missed and would not have
posted had I caught it.
The poem speaks of the experience of man’s various bodies, with
stanza 1 expressing the grind of the physical body, stanza 2, the
view from emotional body, 3rd stanza, from the causal level, stanza 4,
mental body, and stanza 5, the soul body. Every Soul will eventually
reach the “Field of Reeds”, or the first of the pure spiritual planes,
where Soul beholds Itself unadorned ( minus the previously mentioned
bodies, or sheaths ), with Its progress ultimately depending on Itself.
Soul makes Its own way back to God according to the pace that It
sets for Itself.
Thank you for posting “The Song of the Reed” some weeks back. The
opening stanzas are a translation of an excerpt from the same, which I
have carried with me since I was a teenager some 40 years ago. I have
not been able to find them on the internet and am not sure whose
translation they are, it is even possible I have interpreted them this way
myself. I believe Rumi, when referring to the “Song of the Reed”, was
referring to the sound of the flute, which is one of the sounds of Divine
Spirit aka as the Music of the Spheres, one can hear at the Fifth Plane
of Existence, the Soul Plane, or the ‘Atma Lok’.

The word he uses is ‘nei’ which means both reed and flute in Farsi.

The nei has a distinctly sad and haunting sound. Hence the opening verse: “Listen to the nei as it wails..”
Traditional Iranian music was (and still is) 100% improvisation. There are no notes, like European music, and there never were. So, when the nei and the human musician come together, what they produce is an expression of the spirit. An expression of longing.
The verse continues: “its wails tell a tale of separation.”
Separation and longing are the main themes of Iranian spiritual poetry. That sense of longing is what the poets aim to impart to the listener.
The longing is in of itself enough to pull anyone down the path of reunion.
The sound of the nei, as I am sure you can attest yourself from listening to some of the examples on Google, can create that sense of longing, even though there are no words to the music.
The ancient Iranians attributed this quality of the nei to the fact that the nei itself has been separated from its home.
Does that make sense at all?

Nay comes in at about 1:54 ( comp. 9:38 but worth it ),
along with Dilruba ( an Indian stringed instrument
similar to a violin or viola ), and Suling ( Balinese flute ),
while the rhythm is underscored by steel drums. The
voice comes in and is doubled by the reed flute in a
higher register. Majestic, haunting and mesmerising.

Siemens turbocompressor oil leak @ NS#1> IMHO the technical decision to shut-down turbine because of oil leak, based on pictures of the leakage, is sound. In such engines oil leaks are not only out-of-spec, but also probable indicators of other, more serious, internal defect and serious possibility of catastrophic failure. I have made some great pay-days repairing turbines in which the operators chose to ignore oil leaks – resulting in machine “casualties” – fires, explosions. The Siemens machine in this affair is a modified aircraft engine.
(Off-the-cuff, such engines would not be my first choice on the issue of rugged reliability alone…but call me old-fashioned. Engineering considerations are complex. One consideration is “what if?”. It may be that the design fellas were told to not consider the present eventuality, which is, IMHO, ultimately political. Even the choice of the Siemens machines was, I bet, political. I’d have preferred a rugged GE with heavy castings- designed for ground mounting, though Siemens also makes that type too. The machine being shut down has an advertised selling feature that claims that a machine can be swapped-out in 24 hours, a “modular” design – which obviously assumes stable and rational situation with expert crews that do one machine swap, then another, ad infinitum, and assumes that fresh spare machines, and spare parts, will always be on-hand or available by air-lift on short notice. Moreover, there are probably use agreements and warranty matters. Legal issues. Running outside of spec would be assumed to void warranties and create liabilities in Law.)

Evidently there is a misunderstanding. I made no recommendation. I stated an “off-the-cuff” preference for a category of rugged heavy-casting ground-mounted machines, as opposed to adapted/modified aircraft engines. At the time of design, as I assume everyone knows, there were no “sanctions”. Since so-called “sanctions” are obviously not from UNSC, these limits on trade are illegal. Engineers generally avoid assumption that the customer and his cohort will become criminal or abandon Contract Law, etc. But GE has a good historic reputation for reliable turbines. I know of a GE machine (steam) made in the 1930’s that is running to-day. GE “gassers” are common in “the oil patch” where they run for years at a time. As to “possible”, well, no. Each machine has a logging system, and every entry has a mans name and date on it. I have many times read log entries from the date of manufacture that extend to every event in the life of a machine – from, say 1939 to 1996 or so. Ralph, it might be fun for you to do some reading in detail about industrial machinery, gas turbines (including the math and material science) and particularly how these machines are maintained, moved, installed, etc.

In any event, our Russian Brothers seem to have decided to leave “non-contract-capable” former customers to themselves…at least until these reform and return to operating on the basis of Law. Part of masking is an initiatory satanic ritual – remember the Eyes Wide Shut scene, it is “condicio sine qua non” of their desired mass submissive slave posture and attire. I have considered all 6 points you mentioned. Actually Saker himself, Martyanov, Larchmonter, Cassad et all have been expressing their views quite regularly on this matter.
My take on this matter is a bit different. First, the unknowns – none of us knows the original “plan” of Russian government. We know “demilitarization” and “denazification” are the objectives… But for which geographic land ? Is it for East and South Ukraine (which is not at all Ukraine) ? Is it for central and west Ukraine ? Is it for 3B ? Is it for Poland ? Is it for Czeck & Slovak ? Is it for Bulgaria- Romania- Moldovia ? Will it target west Europe also ? Another key parameter which we don’t know, relates to military mobilization plan (that would continuously change reflecting the resistance from opponent).
Now, why I would suggest a closure of the current operation by end of this year with achievement of the “identified objectives” :
(1) cost control is easier for a specified duration and specified geography. IMO military operation with a duration of 2 years will certainly incur more costs than if the operation is restricted to say, 9 months even if the mobilization requires double strength
(2) Russia will have to fight WW III (along with China and Iran) – it is inevitable because the Anglo and Ashkanazim oligarchy won’t let Russia live in peace. Hence, Russia needs preparation which will consume at least 2-4 years more (from now)
(3) Russian slavic civilization need to regroup towards a socio-economic condition + political economy which is free from exploitation-injustice-immorality-deception. Nothing is better than formation of a Eurasian Union nucleus where Russia-Belarus-Novorossia participate. The sooner it happens the better it is for the humankind.
Currently Anglo and Ashkenazim oligarchy is throwing more and more fuel into the fire (of Ukraine operation) where Russia remains busy with UkraNazi team. That results in continuous draining of Russia time+resource+efforts – Russian preparednesd for WWIII might get impacted negatively.

Fully agreed with all three points! But much is opaque to us. How much has Russia finished of preparations? They appear to have been feverishly prepping since at least 2014.. The Union State is essentially established on those 3, needing only formalization. And once Kazakh is either tamed or divided, it will join too. What is evident is at the rate Ukies lose men and defensible territory (mostly the conurbations of the Donbass, the rest being flat steppes or populated by “hostiles” not requiring kid-gloves) they do not have two years.. And the same if fighting moves westward from the Ukraine. Many say it will not be a slow grind. Option (a) will be appreciated by the humankind, but who will bear the enormous effort-time-resources ? China, Iran, India should do that, but one has to keep fingers crossed … Option (b) is the most sensible one because it will provide startegic depth necessary for sustaining the Russian slavic civilization. Russia alone can bear this WW III cost (which probably will be at par with the WW II costs) …

I really cannot comment as do not understand well the military science involved wrt the European landscapes.. but I hope it is not necessary. I am a farmer by trade, Gerry. Last year I built a greenhouse. It was my first time constructing my own greenhouse. When the weather got cold outside, I was amazed to find that inside the greenhouse it was many degrees warmer than outside. A mixture of water vapor, and carbon dioxide emitted by the plants themselves, causes an effect of trapping heat, which they call the greenhouse effect.
I knew of the theoretical aspects of the greenhouse effect since I was a teenager, but even so, seeing it in practice was amazing.
Why do you deny that increased CO2 levels can warm the Earth?
Imagine lighting the fireplace in your home. Will the fireplace warm your house?
How many fires are burning on the Earth today? How many gas stoves? How many combustion engines? How many steel factories? Etc, etc. Billions of fires, big and small. Where were these fires 5000 years ago?
The CO2 and water vapor in the Earth’s atmosphere traps heat. The heat from all these billions of fires has nowhere to go. And because the fires are from fossil fuels, which means the Carbon was out of circulation, we are witnessing not just heat being added to the atmosphere, but also additional CO2.
If it were all just wood fires, then there would be no additional CO2, just heat from sunlight which the trees absorbed and transformed and stored as chemical energy. Wood is always burning in nature in short term cycles, and plants and trees are always grabbing carbon and making more wood. But fossil fuels are not in the cycle, so burning them adds new CO2 to the atmosphere.
I do not deny the Christian faith, Gerry. And I am a firm believer in God. But what I have outlined above is so firmly established as fact, that to deny it one must necessarily prove that lighting a fire does not warm a house.
Think of all the gas stoves burning right now. Think of all the car engines. Think of all the power plants producing heat to run turbines and create electricity. Where was the equivalent of all this is heat 5000 years ago?

They went from global cooling, to global warming, to climate change. They haven’t got a clue about the long term climate. If the historic record is an indication of what comes next a glacial period (ice age) is to be expected. I have kept track of what the climate alarmists warn about. And I don’t see CO2 as a problem. Historically CO2 levels have been much higher and there doesn’t seem to be a direct relation to the temperature. There is a direct relation to plant growth. In greenhouses they increase the CO2 levels to around 1500 pp/m. Plants grow much better at those levels. Forests help to cool areas they cover, and attract rainfall. Also clouds limit sunlight heating up the earth’s surface during the daytime and serve as a blanket at night. Limiting the warmth of the day from dissipating as quick as it does under clear night skies.
Now, offcourse anything we do has some effect on the environment. For instance the way some cities are build, with minimal green patches and plants/trees. Everything stone, tarmac, concrete and glass, the heat tends to build up quicker and can cause several degrees higher temperatures on warm days. Helped by the heat we put out by running air conditioners/powered devices and fossil fuel combustion engines for transportation. The stone retains heat, and also prevents rainwater from seeping into the ground. Causing sewer systems that weren’t designed for today’s conditions (but decades ago, when there was more opportunity for the water to reach the soil) to reach max capacity and local flooding occurs. They are starting to address that over here by paving parking spaces, in locations where it can be (and was earlier) a problem, with open stones with grass growing in between them. (50% stone- 50% open ground covered with grass)
To put things in context, compare the electricity used by human activity to the energy the sun delivers in that same surface area of for instance New York City.
The Sun, measured at sea level, averaged out over an entire year, over the whole earth’s surface, delivers around 170 megawatt per square kilometer (170 watt per square meter, million meter per square kilometer) per hour (when averaged out over 24 hours). 24 x 170mw= 4080 MW/h per km2 in total per 24 hours for the global yearly average. A big city like New York city covering an area of 302.6 square miles or ~480 KM2 (when counting the five boroughs), at the moment uses between 8000 and 12000 (depending on the weather) megawatt hour of electricity per day. While the sun delivers around 197 million megawatt hour per day on that same surface area. So the sun puts out roughly 16000 x more energy then NYC uses on the same surface area. So you can imagine that the impact of that energy usage and the added heat is negligible compared to the sun. The effect of the sunlight shining on a city is magnitudes more impactfull then the energy humans put out. Temperatures in cities are usually several degrees centigrade higher then outside densely buildup areas. Some cities are worse then other, but when taken into account in the design and layout of a city significant reduction of those type of effects can be mitigated. Maybe it’s even possible to design a city in a way it retains less heat then it’s surrounding land does. Could result in nicer cities in warm locations but the temperature effect is very localized.

Also all the meteorological institutes from the bigger western countries (publicly admit to) adjust their raw temperature measurements, always in the same direction. Making the recent measurements come out higher then they originally did.
Our national meteorological institute decided in 2016 that the historical temperature data from 1901 to 1955 had to be adjusted for accuracy. Somehow they realized after 60 years that those measurements had to be adjusted downwards. Subtracting at most 1,7 degrees centigrade from the measured value on the warmest days. Which enabled them to make statements like: Heatwaves occurring more frequently past 60 years compared to first half of the 20th century. Omitting that that only was the case after they adjusted the historic temperature data. Before those adjustments the 54 yr period in the first half of the 20th century actually counted more heatwaves then the 60 yr second half.
NOAA, NASA and others did and do similar adjustments. Also when an argument like 94% of climate scientist agree, or it is a settled scientific fact it is time to question/doubt that claim by default. That isn’t a valid scientific argument and in the case of global warming it isn’t true either. It is just a trick to convince a person of their lie by claiming the experts basically all agree. That 94% claim was analysed and didn’t hold up that well. A very limited number of scientist was consulted, IIRC under 80 and many of them weren’t climate scientist . Not to mention the vocal critics stating that in their opinion it definitely wasn’t an established fact. Especially when excluding factors that are expected to have at least some influence, like (under water) volcanic eruptions. Or variations in solar energy output.
But that being said, we do have problems with pollution, (micro) plastics and all sorts of chemicals (PFAS/PFAO) that are dumped into the environment. And while CO2 IMO isn’t one of them other emissions from fossil fuel combustion clearly are. So good riddance if we manage to replace those fossil fuel generators/engines with something better. Also there is a big difference how polluting different fossil fuels are. Coal being the worst, biomass and oil derivatives also not great for mass usage, the less refined the dirtier. And natural gas being about the least bad of the fossil fuels.
IMO CO2 is used as a distraction and control instrument. And if a couple of degrees centigrade warming are an existential threat to our existence then we have little chance of survival as a species. The historic record indicates way more extreme climate change is common for our biosphere. Ice caps extending halfway down the USA and Europe. Sea level changes of 120 meter within a 1000 years. But suspected to mostly have taken place in 2 or 3 catastrophic events during relative short time spans. Think weeks, months or couple of years maybe where the sea level rises 40 meter. And that 2 or 3 times within an 800 yr period. And that was only about 11800 years ago. The global warming threat as presented today is just nonsensical. A couple of degrees centigrade colder or warmer periods are even more common. although it isn’t even certain the warming was a global thing opposed to more localized. Now that doesn’t mean we can just go on as we do now. We can do way better.

I am from Iran, and we don’t really have access to proper information. Only what the media tells us.
You see, we have these things in Iran called ‘qanat’ — maybe you can look it up if you are interested — and these qanats, some of them are thousands of years old, and for thousands of years they have been consistently providing water to our towns and farms. They work on the principle that it snows a lot in Iran during the winter, and that snow melts and feeds the underground water table, which then comes out of the qanats during the summer when water is needed.
For thousands of years, the qanats have been the backbone and foundation of the Persian civilization in the deserts of Iran. But now, for the first time ever, the qanats are going dry, because it doesn’t snow anymore in the winters. The winters have become very warm. My grandfather used to say it would snow up to 5 meters every winter in his village when he was young, and historically that is what Iran was always like. Last winter it did not even snow 5 cm.

In the UK the summer had weeks of serious warmth and no rain, and no thunderstorms either. In Australia they have what’s called ‘a cool change’ when the temperature suddenly drops. But solar output changes throughout different cycles up to 0.1 % or still 1314 times more than human energy consumption / per year and thus will have a giganticly larger effect than CO2 could ever, ever have !!.
Ahh, and yes CO2 makes up around 0.3 % of the atmosphere, but a thousand times more is solved in the oceans, thus sea temperature is more important than surface air CO2 levels – and sea is heated predominantly by the red spectrum (IR) of the energy of the sun which as we saw is giganticly more than even all man made energy consumption of one year.

Water security… Well, the highly permeable riverain-volcanic alluvium amounts to a spongy “raft” under which flows a mighty river. A few days ago I sallied out by motorcycle to buy small steel parts, and kept track of the fuel…107 km using 4.3 liter. We use very little petro. The trip was exhausting though, over 40C. The bike is an old Harley, a “living anachronism”. I was very pleased at the thrifty sipping of “juice”. In MPG it seems like about 67 mpg, about 28 km / l Not too bad!

Yes, only a tiny indicator… but it seems pregnant. Stainless is stainless because it’s >11% chromium – spendy! I’m not sure, but I think most SS is made in electric furnace, also spendy.

I had the impression listening to Dima last week, that it is not necessarily so straightforward for the Russian forces, but perhaps it is also the way he reports, as factual as he is able, but day to day from the battle field updates he receives, might suggest differening outcomes than gung-ho everything for Russia.

Either the rolling-blackouts in the UK are going to be more extensive, longlasting and unpredictable than UK gov is letting on. Ukraine is trying to expand its bridgehead. They did make some gains and have plenty of reserves, so reports about them totally failing are not correct:
The AFU plans to again expand the bridgehead in the Andreevka front section and displace Russian Forces with infantry from Belogorka, Kostromka, Bruskinskoye and Karlomarksovsky.
A pontoon bridge park was transferred through Bereznegovatoye to KrAZ-255 to repair and set up new crossings across the Ingulets River. In total, at least 30 units of engineering equipment were transferred to the north bank.
Infantry in civilian trucks and buses continue to be moved to Bereznegovatoye station. in the wooden areas along the shore there is little combat equipment. AFU are concentrating 3-5 units per 1 km of frontline.
Despite the active shelling of the entire Blagodatovka – Andreevka – Lozovoye – Sukhoy Stavok triangle, the AFU command is not backing down from its plan for a suicide spurt to Novaya Kakhovka.

A number of American and Australian citizens are going to get their pockets picked by a mysterious source, its the printed out of thin air Euro.
European gvts are subsidizing their energy costs so the EU citizen wont take the proverbial last economic knockout punch this winter.
This means less energy for the American and Australian citizens whos, if their demand doesn’t change, will change the amount they have to pay after this most recent, and still undetermined amount of, injected liquidity.
This injection will naturally have to be matched by Japan and America as standing idley by while a competitor races his engine, will not win this political inflation race.

– The backstory: in 1882 the US & 30 y.o. Emperor Gojong of Korea had signed a treaty. The first article declared that there “shall be perpetual peace and friendship” between Korea and the US. The US promised to help Gojong if Korea’s independence was ever threatened.
– Unbeknownst to Emperor Gojong, Roosevelt had other ideas. In 1900 when he was V-P he had secretly written: “I should like to see Japan have Korea. She [Japan] will be a check upon Russia.”
– When he became president he put his ideas into action. When the Japanese won the 1905 Battle of Mukden against Russia, Roosevelt told Secretary of War William Howard Taft: “I agree with the Japanese terms of peace, insofar as they include Japan having the control of Korea.”
– Roosevelt took it upon himself to mediate terms of peace between Japan & Russia, inviting both nations to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Roosevelt invited Count Kaneko Kentarō, Japan’s representative, to spend the night at his Long Island mansion and told him the following:

– In early September 1905, the Russians & Japanese signed the Portsmouth Peace Treaty, which, among other things, gave Japan control of Korea. For his role in negotiating “peace”, Roosevelt was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
– Meanwhile in Seoul, Emperor Gojong had no idea that Roosevelt, rather than standing up for Korean freedom as he was obliged to do by treaty, had instead approved Korea’s death warrant.
