Thanks for the informative post, most enlightening it was. Beats me how anybody with a brain in their heads and the ability to think clearly can in any way shape or form still believe for an instant that America and its “allies” are indeed waging a “war on terror”.
How can the chief purveyor of terrorism on the planet claim to be “fighting a war on terror”, this is as laughable as the Saudis claiming to want to invade Syria to “fight ISIS”, they are the biggest terrorists going and have been for a long time. They only in the last decade or so resorted to using their al-Qaeda/ISIS proxies on an unprecedented scale because their own citizens weren’t willing to go die and be maimed to further the cause of the likes of Monsanto and Goldman Sachs and Exxon Mobil etc. They were getting a lot of flak at home (anybody remember Mr Ed bemoaning the lack of will in the populace for foreign interventions ?) and there were too many complications to using their own national armies so tahdah !, enter ISIS which is simply al-Qaeda rebranded.
President Putin has rightly stated that terrorism is the greatest threat facing humanity and civilization at the moment and that the terrorists must be dealt with. But you cannot deal with the terrorists until you deal with the source of the evil which is America. To do that is akin to treating the symptoms of a disease and not the disease itself. From Afghanistan to Libya, from Ukraine to Nigeria to China, their terrorist foot soldiers are murdering people in their tens of thousands while America says it is fighting a “war on terror”. Who is the terrorist ?

Yesterday I visited a pub in the nearby with a friend,we took a beer.In the corner was sitting a guy with a couple of empty bottles on his table.After a while,he stands up and asked for the toilet,the barman showed him where to find…and told him with a very cheering face : “but don’t forget to pull down you pants…” You could imagine the laugh in the pub.I didn’t asked the barman if there is a history in this regard with that guy…maybe,I don’t know but the life is sad,the youngs had a good fun with an older guy who was drinking his mind all alone…

  Yeah, elsi, you’ve got a point. It’s just that I’m both elated and kind of surprised that people are finally waking up. I’ve been waiting for this to happen, to no avail, for the last 10 plus years. Now that is finally happening, I can hardly believe it.
  Having said that; not all people everywhere are waking up at the same pace. If I understand it correctly (thanks in part to our friend, Martin, reporting from Germany) Germans are still largely asleep, happily drinking the MSM kool-aid. The French are a mixed-bag and I’m not so sure about the Americans or the Canadians.
  Over-all the Millennials on both sides of the pond seem to be generally living in cloud cuckoo land, especially in relation to international geo-politics, they seem only preoccupied with issues that affect them directly like; student debt, austerity, jobs, cost of living, things like that. That’s why they’re fully backing politicians such as Sanders or Corbyn. But when asked about Syria, Russia, the BRICS [etc] they are clueless.

Something I have been thinking about over the last few days is the likes of Putin and Lavrov being called traitors by regular commentators here, perhaps in the heat of the moment.

Where is the redline drawn? Below the redline there can be no compromise and above that redline there is room to compromise and maneuver. At the red line there is no retreat and if you lose, you lose all. There is no living to fight another day
If the bar is set too high with little or no room for compromise then it becomes an extremist position.
If the bar is set too low then everything can be compromised.

My thoughts here also carry over into the media. If the MSM is black and a few independent journalists/bloggers are white there are also many shades of grey in between. (add bellingcat and SOHR to the MSM black group)

Hi everyone.

I have been having quite a few discussions about the Russian situation with relatively informed people, although the reality of the situation regarding Russia is new to them.

Mostly people are fairly open, but i hit a constant hurdle with the meme “Russia/Putin kills journalists”. This generally always comes up and i know little about the details because i look at it as neocon perception management.

Could anyone please help me with details about this to help me clarify in further discussions?

Again, stripped down, it is authoritarianism (albeit Christian based) verses free-thinking (which I believe he sees as now liberalism). I’m not sure he’s sold me on that aspect. Seems a touch romantic in its leanings and ultimately avoiding the breakthroughs of the Enlightenment and science. Again, with these types, it is not so much what is said, but rather the implications of what they are saying. Simply shifting identity from ‘nationalism’ to ’empire’ (orthodox christian in his case) does not address the fundamental existential issues and still leaves the issue of class of empires rather than clash of smaller nation states. He throws some interesting angles but his final comments about needing to solve “our existential challenge” (but not the Indians or Chinese etc) seem somewhat paradoxical — these ‘challenges’ are very much inbuilt into the world-views (Weltanschauung) he chooses to apply. The thought that the basic assumptions and premise of Judo-Christian-Islamic “end times” are the cause of the problem(s) he’s focused on does not seem to occur to him. At least in this short interview he does not distinguish clearly between individual epidemiological frameworks for personal orientation and guidance (desirable or otherwise) and various state/empire-level systems of governance.

Security Police also interrogated the man and he was held in custody for threats for two days last fall, but the investigation was closed after questioning.

The man’s lawyer Gunnar Falk has been gagged, Expressen reports that have been in contact with him.”

re: Lebanon becoming another front for Isis attack. 3/7/16 on RT’s Crosstalk the commentators talked about Lebanon and the fact that the pot is being stirred–something is up. It is Isis tactic to open a new front when it is being defeated on others. Plus, if Hezbollah has to pull back to defend its rear, then, the Syrian Arab Army’s defense of its border with Turkey is weakened.

And Israel, oh waiting in the wings Israel, has a stake in the game–Golan Heights for sure. Meanwhile the US and its two new bases ( hey, folks we are here to stay) in NE Syria, will double down on its creation of greater Kurdistan.

Looks as if Iran is the country which will wait things out.

Some may remember Shoigu made a reference to an invisible Russian cat in Ukraine in 2014. Now it looks as if he alluded to a CIA experiment in the 1960s. It was a total failure and cost some twenty million dollars. I think Shoigu meant the Russian invisible operation was a success in comparison.The article is not in English and must be identified and translated on google.
