Listening to Yulia, thinking about al-Sahhaf

Um, sorry Yulia, you and the other six oligarchs have all the *money* in Ukraine, and the SAP the IMF seeks to inflict won’t help the voluntary contributions from flowing in. Put this woman in a room with rubber walls, and don’t forget the straightjacket.

I am afraid that behind this apparent insanity is a push for the NATO involvement. All this crazy talk is just building the case for the foreign military help. Even Yulia is so dump to believe that she can build a viable army in such a short period. But it helps in winning the public opinion on the upcoming NATO involvement.

I think technically by military she means some kind of guerilla force.

But she still sounds crazy. You know, as if you can negotiate from a position of strength while fighting a guerilla resistance.

Although theyre not true military, it still takes alot of training to have a good paramilitary force. Im not sure a decent paramilitary force can be jackbooted ex nihilo in a matter of weeks or two months, even with foreign funds and weapons.

I agree she’s gone bonkers but the word “hysterical” has a long, really unfortunate history and some women are insulted by its use.

I think her call to arms along with her previous statements are helping the counter-coup cause. Did the Russians just cut the economic lifeline of Ukrainians or the illegitimate Kiev crazies. Her ranting actually defeats her cause; so, let her rant and rave.

One of the problems about being banged up in pokey is that time tends to stand still in your head. So she came out of prison thinking that nothing had changed from the time she went in. She clearly expected a rapturous reception from the masses she assumed would be supporting her and her bid for power and was clearly surprised by the lukewarm response she got. Things have moved on Ukraine and she, like Yanukovich, is yesterday’s news. For someone so egotistical, who’s probably done nothing for the last few years but plot, scheme and dream of retaking power, it’s an awful lot to cope with and, mentally, she doesn’t seem too robust.

She may also be genuinely alarmed by some of the forces now in Kiev – the assumption that these Right Sector guys can be controlled and turned on and off like a tap, which is probably what she thought, is obviously proving false. Dangerous playmates for any politician.

So what? Other words have an even worse history. Think of the poor word “discrimination” which used to denote wisdom and now seems to mean bigotry. Or the word “virgin” which used to denote purity and now seems to only mean repressed and frustrated frigidity bordering on monstrosity. I won’t even go in the crazy stuff with the words “Black” or “Negro”. SO WHAT?! How long do you want everybody to be terrified to write every/any word lest somebody be offended by it. Oh, and women do have a tendency to mindless hysterics no less then men have a tendency to mindless aggression and machismo. What is the point of denying it? I also tell my boys that most men nowadays suffer from “acute testosterone poisoning” – does that make me a self-hating man or a (reverse) sexist?

People, this is crazy! Use whatever expressions you prefer, but please don’t tell me that this or that word I use might offend somebody. I will let you on a secret here: my entire blog is deeply offensive to many, many people, I get regular hate mail or outbursts of hostility in the comments section. Well, guess what? I truly, honestly don’t care one bit. Not at all. So how could I possible care that somebody somewhere might get offended at the word “hysterical”?

This isn’ t about negotiating with the Russians. Tymoshenko figures that the number of gun barrels behind her will soon matter more than a number of votes. Ain’t no better way of getting volunteer cannon fodder than some anti- Russian rhetoric in Kiev nowadays, if you ask me. She knows that too.

Is this the youtube video of the speech that this whole post and thread is talking about? This is about 15 mins and it is definitely a party political broadcast, but of a very ropey sort of low-budget appearance. I haven’t watched it through, because I don’t understand the language, but even at the beginning she looks a bit overwrought. At least she’s stopped wearing those horrible braids on her head.

Rothrock has clearly mastered the art of telling the USSA apparacthiks just enough of what they want to hear so they’ll publish him while mocking them to any person with a brain who can read between the lines (not unlike NYU Prof Mark Galeotti who is also being denounced by the usual Russophobic mouth foamers this week). And Matt Drudge is using Ed Lucas’ latest rant for the Economist about how the West is about to fall under Putin’s jackboot as pure clickbait, while highlighting the surrender/defection of Ukrainian army forces in links above the screaming ‘WW3’ headline. In other words, Matt is throwing Cold War red meat to his Fox News watching readership while telling the more sophisticated readers he knows Ukraine’s military and with it the Obama Admin policy in Ukraine is in shambles.

I concur with the other commenters though: whatever intel Russia has on Brennan’s orders to the SBU from the CIA’s entire floor/wing at their HQ needs to come out if at all possible. Because Brennan, the Kiev freaks and their Western masters are not going to accept this humiliation of the Ukrainian Army refusing to obey their orders lying down, even if they have to dress up 100s of mercs in Ukrainian uniforms and start mowing down unarmed people left and right to get their civil war on…Russia needs to expose any false flag ops Brennan’s boys have planned fast.

Yanukovych has announced his intention to “return to Donetsk for Easter” (this weekend). The Kyiv junta responded that he will be detained if he enters Ukraine.

Question:
1. Is Yanukovych about to take lead of the resistance, something he can obviously do more effectively in Donetsk than in Rostov?
2. Does this signal confidence that he can count on protection by the local police, security services, military, etc.

Judicial point:
Not only does Yanukovych risk being banged up in Ukraine (like Tymoshenko was, during his effective presidency), but he also risks being handed over to the International “Criminal” Court, since the EU-association agreement, which Tymoshenko was in such a hurry to get signed, obliges Ukraine to hand over any wanted person, even though a ruling by the Constitutional Court in 2001 declared this to be incompatible with the Constitution.

I am leaning to her going mad. It may have started with her fully believing American rhetoric and not able to recognize the underlying policy and interests and limitations of the overseas power (think of don quixote reading one too many books on chivalry). She is an older person and must have been exposed to a lot of US propaganda. She may have convinced herself that the US needed a pretext to attack Russia and would reward her for “standing up” to Russia and providing such a pretext.

To be honest, madness and the inability to grasp the reality is why the Kiev junta is failing. To characterize the East protesters as “terrorist” is a pinnacle of madness and cynicism. As Saker wrote, the solders are given an order to go fight terrorists, in solders’ mind terrorists are big bearded man with big guns, and all they find when they get there are familiar faces of grandmas, grandpas, middle age men and women, just like their mothers and fathers. Of course, the solders are right to question the sanity of the people who gave them the order.

The Kiev junta would get much further by going to regular people, sitting down and just listening for a couple of hours to their concerns. But they can’t for reasons of madness and ideology and egoism.

The question then is who will form Tymoshenko’s militia. The West Ukraine based Right Sector are a bunch of hillbillies unable to put up a credible force. Their leader Yarosh is a stuttering blubbering moron who can’t put two words together without reading it off a paper. Right Sector is high on German heavy metal music and pagan gods and, according to some reports, drugs.

Svoboda is an “itellectual” expression of “Ukrainian nationalism”. Still their leader Tehnibok is only marginally better than Yarosh. Svoboda does not have armed units.

I would bet that neither Svoboda nor Right Sector have a deep support in the WEST Ukraine. If we now had a referendum in the WEST Ukraine/Galicia, I would bet that a majority would have voted for separation from the rest of Ukraine and forming their little country they would call Galicia. That’s pretty much what Bandara, the famed Ukrainian nationalist, wanted.

So, going back to Tymoshenko. She has no base and no country (the East would not accept her now after what she has done). Her only option is to emigrate. And that’s where she will end up… living off her gas deal savings, which are actually not even her deals, but her husbands and father-in-law deals..

This story is in the New York Times, so it must be taken with a grain of salt, but I didn’t see this on RT or VofR. Can anyone confirm this story is accurate? This is a quote alleged by Putin at the beginning of the article:

Putin of Russia emphasized on Thursday that the upper chamber of the Russian Parliament had authorized him to use military force if necessary in eastern Ukraine, and also stressed Russia’s historical claim to the territory, repeatedly referring to it as “new Russia” and saying that only “God knows” why it became part of Ukraine.

The astute posters who look for salvation in a military coup and those focusing on Kolomoyski are equally on target. I figured, even before the leaked phone call to Ashton, that the snipers cutting down police and protesters alike must be mercenaries either supplied by the Americans or paid for by oligarchs. Or maybe both. If one suspects oligarchs his/her gaze has to fall first on Kolomoysk. Here is a man who, though Jewish, carrying a dual passport and deeply involved in Israeli affairs, none the the less funds allegedly ‘anti-Semitic’ right wing political parties, both in Switzerland where he is headquartered and in the Ukraine.

You can bet that every Uk military commander of importance has received notice of an account set up in his name in a bank in Dubai or some other place immune to scrutiny.
