Notice that he, in a moment, says that this result is indeed a “monstruosity”, and yes it is, if not because who has voted Trump into office has been the working class itself mainly and, as has expressed yesterday in the local radio, this is what can be achieved when you filter fear to the bones of the society.
Last summer, when travelling through Lebanon, our guide, a quite elder Maronite Christian ( still needing working, but still a liberal, “sarna con gusto, no pica”, that we would say here ) sumed it all when saying, “the country is ill and so the people is not well”
Very good summary by Pilger. It’s hard for me to believe that anything will improve with Trump. In the end it will be his actions, not his words that will matter. Remember Obama and ‘change we can believe in’. We now know how that turned out. We got eight years of GW on steroids. All his talk about closing down Guantanamo, ending the war in Iraq and bring peace and justice to the Palestinians were just empty words. The Anglo/zionists still torture innocent people in Guantanamo Bay, the war in Iraq spread to Libya, Syria, Yemen, Ukraine, Sudan and is threatening to engulf the whole ME and beyond and justice for the Palestinian people is as far away as ever.
If Trump follows through his words with action I will support him. But I am not convinced he can be trusted. An important proof of his ‘wanting to change things’ will be to find out who will be in his cabinet.
I think it was Malcolm X who said “I am for truth whoever speaks it” or something along those lines. I have found many good articles there. Dr. Kevin Barrett is a man I hold in high regard, who speaks truth to power.
I read a number of VT articles some time ago and found very little truth there. Perhaps the odd grain of truth mixed through the fiction, but difficult to tell what was truth and what was fiction. though a lot was obvious fiction. For ex US military perspective, Pat Lang’s Sic Semper Tyrannis is a good site.
He explains it well.
The US security apparatus Pilger talks of – even if Trump is genuine, and is not compromised as he moved into his new job, that huge security apparatus – the US war machine will take some time to turn around. Perhaps depending on how much support he has within the US intelligence and military machines.
All rational weighing is dismissing, there are miracles to happen in the time of apocalypse. Suddenly each and every veil is withdrawn increasingly since 2014
and leading to the planetary explosion on Tuesday. It’s easy now no know the borders between the Satan and St. Georg in us men.
Everything can happen, with burning hearts, like that of the Donald with the calm voice.
Hillary did regime change, her own this time, she’s a pro. Problem is will it be just more business as usual with different faces as it has been since, well, almost forever. Pilger’s ‘no one to vote for’ pretty much says it, Ta.
….I should have added re. Pilger…these days he appears to be somewhat accurate in toeing the ‘progressive’ line but years ago he got someone I knew very well completely wrong….I’ve always questioned what he has published since
It doesn’t happen very often, very rarely in fact, but now and then I’m proud to be part of the English speaking world. Listening to John Pilger was just such a moment. His analysis of the problems we face, thoughtful and humane yet forensic and incisive, drilling through accumulated layers of political – historical ordure which virtually defines our times. There aren’t many like Pilger and there are fewer every year. In my 70-odd years there has never been a more dangerous, dispiriting and morally abhorrent social-political situation. One can only hope that your new president-elect will be able to deliver on his promises and we all live to witness the demise of the toxic ‘isms’ that afflict our societies: militarism, globalism, neo-liberalism, what was called sado-monetarism under Mrs Thatcher and the dark state and it’s servants. In the meantime I hope you continue to be gifted with the strength to keep up the good work.
Excellent interview. It spelled things out clearly. I think “now” is the time for those that want peace need to “get to Trump”. Don’t wait until the other side has subverted him to their thinking.His election (assuming he really meant his words),really could begin a process of bringing the end of neo-con control in the US. And make the World a safer place. But all that could be stopped if the neo-cons and other elites can change his mind on that.
Just comenting in the Sharii video thread that the nominables, acording to analysts in 24h channel RTVE, are all tycoons and old republican hawks.
For Secretary of Treasure they have given the name of a tycoon, ex Goldman Sachs!
So where are the changes, the Glass-Steagall, where the break down with neo-cons and so on?
I would give all for good if people at least gingers up, unite those in the countryside and those in the cities and in 4 years they prepare their own party, the party of the people.
It is possible, I saw the born of Podemos almost the same time ago and there you have them as third political force in the Parliament.
An alternative is to be done, raised from the people.
Only do not commit the greatest error that is fight each other, you the poor, the forgotten, because they want no other thing. You see, they have people left, so gives them a damn, and if you eliminate each other, for them it´s fine.
A really balanced and realistic analysis.

Pilger is one of the last of the truth-telling (real) journalists we have left in the west. Always worth reading and listening to.
Totally agree. Love John Pilger!

“Trump is anti-Obama just like Obama was anti-Bush” by Kevin Barrett here;

We do have to wait and see what Trumps actions will be, but linking to veterans today? How do you read that garbage?
“How do you read that garbage?”

@Anonymous,
Obama’s campaign was funded by Goldman Sachs. They paid for him and they got what they paid for.
http://edition.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/04/20/obama.goldman.donations/
Trump’s campaign, on the other hand, relied on small donors. He didn’t even get funding from his own party. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-10-08/republican-national-committee-begins-redirect-funds-trump
He explains it well.

What do you mean, sadness? I do not know this Pilger, is he a conservative also?

A post here at SST perhaps worth reading http://turcopolier.typepad.com/sic_semper_tyrannis/
Other than averting WWIII, I am not sure what to make of Trump, but the above article seems to give a bit of insight into the man.
Correct link to the SST article here. The previous link was to the site

Very interesting discussion in the comments on monetary policy (that may be the wrong technical term).
