They would have no problems at all, I assure you. Always remember that Russians are used to live in a multi-ethnic and multi-religious society. And these Muslim Chechens came to Novorussia to defend and, if needed, die for Givi’s and Motorola’s people. And they are all warriors, they would see that in each other. Putin’s Russia, Tolkien’s Mordor: What’s the Difference?
DEC 11, 2014
By Leonid Bershidsky
I was rendered temporarily speechless by the news that a design company was planning to light up an enormous Eye of Sauron over a Moscow skyscraper this week. Though the project was ostensibly meant to mark the premiere of the third part of director Peter Jackson’s ambitious Hobbit trilogy, it was impossible to ignore the symbolism of the evil all-seeing eye imagined by J.R.R. Tolkien watching over President Vladimir Putin’s capital.
The stunt was canceled yesterday, however, one day before its intended unveiling — one might say, precisely because today’s Moscow is a lot like Barad-dur, Sauron’s tyrannous seat of power in Tolkien’s epic.
The event design firm and architectural bureau Svechenie worked for months on the Eye, and it seemed at first to have the tacit approval of the government. It was supposed to light up over one of the towers at IQ Quarter, a cluster of three skyscrapers in Moscow’s futuristic City district whose developer, Gals, is owned by the state-controlled bank VTB. Even government-owned media gave favorable coverage to the idea: perhaps the Moscow-Mordor analogy had not occurred to their editors.
It’s an analogy I’ve been considering for a while. When I worked in Kiev in 2012, my colleagues and I joked about Ukraine being much like Shire, the hobbits’ home country, while Putin’s Russia was Mordor, working its evil magic on the bucolic land.
Ukrainians admit they share many of the hobbits’ characteristics: They are hedonistic, easygoing, not overly fond of hard work, attached to their homes and land plots and prone to stockpile supplies; they can also be fiercely courageous when in danger, and they tend to form strong support networks. Like the Shire, Ukraine has a temperate climate and an economy mostly based on agriculture; it has also never had a strong government.
Putin, for his part, bears a certain resemblance to Sauron, the lord of Mordor, a country to the east of Shire that has a harsher climate and a government that merges with religion to run every facet of its citizens’ lives. The repressive machine is run by orcs, orurqui in Tolkien’s invented quenya language. In Russian, coincidentally, urki are gangsters…..
@Angelo Ukraine means something like “border-land” I thought? Stupid comparison really! But I see this is why Novorossiyan fighters are called orcs -_-
@bh:it’s just that Beslan and Dubrovka theater are still branded in my memory
I understand. But always remember that the Chechens on this photo are Karyrov’s men and that they killed at least as many Chechen Wahabis as the Russians did. They are the ones today who will shoot the Wahabis on sight, literally, and they are the ones who call the Wahabis “shaitans” (devils). Believe me that a Chechen terrorist is much, MUCH better off being captured by Russian special forces than by these folks who will make belts with this skin before even beginning to interrogate him.
By the way, Kadyrov has ordered his men to capture the commanders of the Azov and Aidar death squads and bring them the Chechnia. I don’t think that this is likely to happen, but you never know. I am sure that these death squad commanders are now looking over their shoulders now :-)
Why is Kadyrov still trying to intimidate the Ukie government with a handful of Chechen fighters at this late stage in the war? that strategy lost its use once threats matured into action, and the Ukies learned that war can be something more than a terrifying experience, it can be profitable. Even V.V Putin has obviously given up that worn out tactic in favor of a more productive one- i.e. Conning the Ukies into rescuing the Kremlin from the consequences of a tragic strategic error. The Kremlin needs Banderistan to welcome the Trojan horse of Donbass back into the Ukrainian fold, where it can be most valuable to Russia as a leash with which to restrain and control Ukie government foreign policy. I recall how, in the early stages of the rebellion in Donbass, Saker confidently pointed out that Donbass was the only useful part of Ukraine, and how by assisting in the formation of Novorossiya, Russia would render Ukraine worthless and rump Banderistan a burden for NATO and the Americans. Turns out the reverse is true instead. As the poor citizens of Novorossiya are painfully beginning to learn, an economically threatened Russia, cannot afford to support Donbass indefinitely, especially since Novorossiya is politically worthless in dissuading Ukraine’s ascension into NATO and the EU. Without Crimea and Novorossiya to advocate Russia’s interests in Ukraine, Banderistan is freed of the burden of a divided polity, and NATO would be only too glad to accept 3/4 of the loaf today, in order to pursue the rest at a later date. It is the population of Donbass, that have become a financial burden on the beleaguered russian economy. Pensions and social welfare costs have to be weighed against the inability of a detached Donbass to influence Ukrainian foreign policy. With a significant proportion of the population aging soviet era holdovers, this trait that made them valuable as part of Ukraine, becomes an obstacle to the Russian economy once separated from Ukraine. Let’s face it, Donbass is a financial sinkhole without the marginal promise of a return on investment, at least strategically, that Crimea offers. The question is, how to Unring this bell. How to make Banderistan unlearn the lesson they now know, that it is cheaper to kill and starve off the Russophile population of Donbass, than it is to be responsible for their welfare. That it is actually to the advantage of Banderistan, to unload the burden of the population onto the Russian economy. Russia needs Ukraine’s Russophile population as pawns in its foreign policy, but cannot afford them as a burden economically. Minsk 3(?) if it takes place, will either prove Russia’s diplomatic dexterity, or will portend the curtain call of a tragic Kremlin miscalculation in its strategy WRT Ukraine. Saker, do you still stand by your conviction that Ukraine is worthless to NATO without Donbass?
“…it’s just that Beslan and Dubrovka theater are still branded in my memory. Granted these types of guys were not behind that, but when I hear ” Chechnyan ” , I allmost have the same reaction as when I hear ” turk “.
First the Catholics, then the Jewish zionists have indoctrinated western societies to hate and fear Muslim peoples. Rather than see Beslan and Dubrovka as Muslim terrorism, go to the source of those terror ops, those that organised it, and indoctrinated and trained the terrorists – zionist Jews (Israelis) and other Judeao-Christian scum that the terms fascism and nazism only loosely are able to represent total abandonment of decency and humanity these creatures are imbued with.

“I think Bershidsky fell into a bad bottle of Stoli before turning that in…”
Not “Stoli”, but one of those Ami copies, which like most Ami products are simply the lowest quality that mass indoctrination and advertising can manage to get people to buy. Just about everything American falls into that category, generally always the lowest quality. The zios stumbled onto a real “goldmine” when they took over the USA. Most of the social brainwashing had already all done for them.
(On the particular topic of direct Russian intervention in Novorussia, since the preceding winter the Saker has been going through various phases, and honestly, I have already completely lost track where he stands now. Perhaps he can tell us?)
As a little reminder, here is a short (41 second) video taken on 4 March 2014, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM12FidJGhw , where Putin solemnly proclaims & promises to the people of Novorussia: ***“введём войска на Юго-Восток, если люди нас попросят” = “we shall introduce the troops in the South-East, if people ask us”***
Since then, the people of Novorussia have been constantly asking, desperately asking him to do just that – and dying. What has Mr. Putin actually *done* in response? “Wisely avoided the western trap”(!…) And what is our Mr. Putin doing right now? He is calmly supplying the murderers of his own people with gas, oil and coal and – “negotiating” with them………….
Here are seven soldiers lined up.. Their faces are unmasked, they all have different hats, or caps, and they all have beards, and they all have machine guns…
But there is humanness there, and the image does not send shivers down my spine like the Isis mob, who are the great terror threat, seems to me.
(Perhaps they really are adorable, like the 7 dwarves Happy, Bashful, Dopey, Grumpy, Doc, Sleazy and Sleepy)
Chabads plan for a Israel 2.0 is quite open by now, for those with a mind of their own. Just look who are the topshots in Ukie government, neo-cons support for them them and the neo-con role in the coup d’etat. Or ask why “ultranationalist” Right sector is waving Israeli flags..
Saker are you sure Chechens are friendly with Russians? Why do they keep producing videos glorifying chechens who fought against russian? like this one?
Probably you are underestimating the Chechens, they might show they are pro-Russia when Russia is strong, but knowing them from the stuff they write on the net, they will ask for their free Chechen republic, whenever time is ripe.
UKUSA confrontation against Russia is conducted overtly — through sanctions and resolutions by Congress — and covertly — through the funding and training of opposition groups that takes place outside of the country.
Just read an interesting piece in a comment in a Dutch article (no sources provided, so I don´t link it) about an Pissraeli/ Cyprus/ Greek deal to counter the Turkish gas pipeline. The gas fields in the east Mediterranean would provide gas instead.
I don´t think it amounts to much: by the time this gas would become available, the Turkish gas will be well connected to s. Europe. Will there still be a EU then? If a secure stream of gas is available, will the want to risk it by buying from the apartheid state?
Joe Biden(VP)and John Brennan(CIA) own Kiev and I suspect the 250,000 graves being dug,are for the ‘Moskals’,not for the dead troops that they left behind.

DEC 12 Looks like the banksters got their Xmas present under the tree early!
that pathetic, shallow late after the fact Dodd-Frank legislation put in well after the 2008 collapse, which was supposed to reinstate at least a smidgen of the ethics rules removed when clinturd in 1999 repealed the Glass Steagall acts of the 1930’s, just got eviscerated under smoke cover of the torture report!
A year ago, Mother Jones reported that a House bill that would allow banks like Citigroup to do more high-risk trading with taxpayer-backed money was written almost entirely by Citigroup lobbyists. The bill passed the House in October 2013, but the Senate never voted on it. For months, it was all but dead. Yet on Tuesday night, the Citi-written bill resurfaced. Lawmakers snuck the measure into a massive 11th-hour government funding bill that congressional leaders negotiated in the hopes of averting a government shutdown. President Barack Obama is expected to sign the legislation.
again, i find it interesting in timing that we see this criminal desperation going on exactly when russia is supposed to be testing monday that bank payment system independent of SWIFT (among BRICS nations only).
“Anonymous said… EU Demands Russia Bail Out EU & Ukraine.
IMF says Ukraine will be bankrupt ‘within weeks’ and needs $15 billion more for war against eastern Ukraine; EU threatens Russia with more sanctions if Russia lets Ukraine go bankrupt; EU will lose billions on Ukraine if Russia won’t bail them out”
The dramatic part is that probably there are powerful people in Russia taking such requests seriously. “Who knows, might be a way to settle things, Russia needs Europe, they are our Slavic brothers…”. After all they are supplying gas at discounted prices and refraining to ask the money they lent back
Putin already said, at the APEC summit in early November, that Russia will NOT be using the default provision in that $3 billion loan.
If Germany, IMF or anyone else is now asking them… the are just big-noting themselves, to make it look like they were the heroes who persuaded Russia to do this.
Russia doesn’t need Ukraine going bankrupt unless that gets rid of the IMF pro-NAZI government.
Banksters actually got TWO giant presents under the tree in 24 hours–this one was the first, DEC 11:
The purpose of information symmetry is to prevent certain market actors from engaging in control frauds. This principle taken to a perfect and natural ideal was a cornerstone of one of the great economic canards that justified deregulating the markets.
“In finance, the efficient-market hypothesis asserts that financial markets are ‘informationally efficient’. In consequence of this, one cannot consistently achieve returns in excess of average market returns on a risk-adjusted basis, given the information available at the time the investment is made.”
And now they are dropping the pretext. Are they counting on most people not understanding what ‘symmetry of information’ means? Are they counting on you doing nothing about this?
Information symmetry means that some analyst or CEO cannot tell his friends that they are going to give downward guidance in a week, so that they can all sell their stock and even short it ahead of the public.
I remember what Putin said in March and he meant it. Putin talked about fascists committing crimes in the East and promised to intervene if that happened, but he never meant to take a chunk out of Ukraine [except Krim] or fight the Ukrainian army. At that time nobody knew Strelkov and some others would start a military uprising and invite the wrath of the Ukrainian army. I have spent hours every day studying the conflict in Ukraine since February. As I understand it, another approach would have been better. Strelkov was right about the fascist threat, but unfortunately he and his fighters became a magnet for the fascist regime and made things worse. That changed everything, started the civil war and put Russia proper and world peace in great danger. An invisible guerrilla force protecting the people when needed, would that have been better? Peaceful resistance could have invited Russian troops.
Moscow did not send Strelkov to Donbass. Strelkov, who has expected war for years, forced Moscow to adopt another strategy against its will. To intervene with humanitarian aid, take care of refugees and allow volunteers to fight for Novorossiya. All out war was impossible when world peace was threatened and a brother country imploded.
Was Strelkov right? Is war coming? I am afraid so, but we must be honest and admit a man, who expected it, helped start it and that was never Putins intention.
Seeing this, I recall Solzhenitsyn’s descriptions of Chechens in Gulag- fierce warriors, and relentless in matters of honor. Assuming the modern generations haven’t lost those qualities, the Ukie death squads will be getting a good look at hell before they die.
I watched the video posted here by Anon 16:45. The Right Sector death squad leaders have been directly insulting the Chechens? Did I understand this correctly? The Novorussians and various volunteers have already been beating the death squads down hard- why would those freaks want to make things even worse for themselves by baiting the Chechens too?
I’m hoping it’s because they’re stupid, because the only other possibility is that their handlers, for some reason, wanted the Chechens to do this.
almost 40 years ago, in the brief Sino-Vietnam war, there was a story of Chinese sniper who had made a lot of kills. I was gush over him (I was in high school then), my parents heard, and chided me that there was nothing to be admire of a killer. Live was precious, even an enemy’s life.
On the day Chechen terrorists took hostage of 500 civilians in A Moscow theater, The headline of BBC was not about that but about sharp shooter terrorist being supposedly caught in Washington> In fact theirs Chechnya news was fifth in item(including head line) . These days at last the british media even say about Chechnya terrorist as terrorist otherwise 2 years ago they were always calling them freedom fighters(which they are -but that is another story). In fact the British media and england as a country had been actively supporting and giving material help to Chechnya terrorists aided by CIA and British spy and British media as well). If you look at the report of British media then you realize the British involvement in terrorism by the Chechnya terrorists. When three multistory flats were wiped pout by terrorist in central Moscow a few years ago there was a glee in british reporting and a criticism of later security arrangemnt by Russian forces in Moscow. of course the British media would have been horrified and barking like a dog(which they are) if the Russians had decided to destroy Chechnya civilians as the Americans did in Afghanistan. Then you realize the humbug of British propaganda against terrorism-it is selective and meant to facilitate British infiltration in other countries, In fact the afganistan govt(after fall of Taliban) was opposed to british troops (after all Americans fought -what have British got to do with that ?)presence in Afghanistan-but arm twisting by british through American help ensures that British troops are there in Afghanistan they are foreign infiltrators and thus should be eliminated(they have less legal reason to be in Afghanistan than the soviets who had been primarily invited by the govt, of the day). the British involvement in international terrorism is not confined to against Russian interest only.

DEC 12
Looks like the banksters got their Xmas present under the tree early!
that pathetic, shallow late after the fact Dodd-Frank legislation put in well after the 2008 collapse, which was supposed to reinstate at least a smidgen of the ethics rules removed when clinturd in 1999 repealed the Glass Steagall acts of the 1930’s, just got eviscerated under smoke cover of the torture report!

EU Demands Russia Bail Out EU & Ukraine.

I know you suffer, but please listen.
I hope it’s not some kind of trap.
I’d like to be fighting with these guys…I mean on the same side. what a blast !
almost 40 years ago, in the brief Sino-Vietnam war, there was a story of Chinese sniper who had made a lot of kills. I was gush over him (I was in high school then), my parents heard, and chided me that there was nothing to be admire of a killer. Live was precious, even an enemy’s life.
25th october 2002
On the day Chechen terrorists took hostage of 500 civilians in
A Moscow theater, The headline of BBC was not about that but about sharp shooter terrorist being supposedly caught in Washington> In fact theirs Chechnya news was fifth in item(including head line) .
