Has the Saker blog been hijacked by the CIA?
You think that it is a crazy question?
So do I.
But not everybody agrees.
Nevermind that I have created an entire community of blogs whose sole aim is to denounce, oppose and resist against Empire in all its forms, some apparently believe that the CIA has somehow hijacked my blog or maybe co-opted/brainwashed/broken/submitted/etc. me.
Why?
Because I post articles which reflect a point of view different from mine. The recent article by Gavin Don is a perfect example. Or the recent articles by Cathal Haughian.
I have also been accused of being anti-Muslim, nevermind that I posted every single speech by Hassan Nasrallah which I could find, that I declare myself an official Hezbollah fanboy and a Nasrallah groupie, that I regularly posts speeches by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, that I have the honor of considering Sheikh Imran Hussein as a friend, that I coined (or, at least, made it popular) the expression “AngloZionist Empire” and that I am a fierce critique of Israel and its racist policies.

The articles by Ghassan Kadi.
I have also been accused of being a Stalinist. And an anti-Stalinist. Yes, both. Why?
Because of the series of videos about Stalin by Jimmie Moglia.
As for Catire’s article about Venezuela, earned me a ton of accusations of being a, what else, CIA mouthpiece and a reactionary. Nevermind that my previous articles about Venezuela and Chavez got me accusations of being a crypto-Communist.

I have also been accused of being a Putin-fanboy. Now that is, I have to admit, absolutely true. However, I have ALSO been accused of being a Putin-basher following my posting of this article: Putin’s Biggest Failure.
I was accused of being a Serbian Chetnik and a genocide-denier due to my personal position on the events in Srebrenica. But after I posted an lengthy rebuttal of an article written by a Serbian friend by a Bosnian-Muslim I was accused of being a Bosnian-Muslim propagandist and an enemy of the Serbian people.
And then, of course, I was called a racist. Many, many times. Most recently for my article about Europe entitled Saker Rant about a Stolen Europe. However, the article entitled Putin and Israel – a complex and multi-layered relationship earned me the accusation of being, I quote, a “Jew lover” (that, at least, is partially true – I *do* love a lot of Jews, many of whom have been wonderful friends and immensely kind to me)
Oh, I almost forgot. I am both a rabid Russian nationalist with revanchist imperialist dreams and, in the same breath, a “Surkov-agent” who backstabs Novorussia and whitewashes Putin.
I could continue, but you get the point.
So, for those who have a hard time deciding whether I am a Communist or a US agent, a Jew in the employ of the Mossad or a rabid anti-Semite, a pseudo-Christian Muslim or an Islamophobe, etc, etc, etc, let me provide a few hopefully helpful reminders:
First: I regularly publish articles and opinion with which I do not agree. This is the Saker Blog, not the Völkischer Beobachter and I actually welcome well-written and controversial articles. At the very least, I see them as an opportunity for an intelligent discussion (just name-calling does not qualify, sorry!) and a chance for those disagreeing to present their case. I have absolutely no intention of changing this policy and if you cannot live with it, then I suggest you go to any of the million of ‘thinking-in-lockstep’ blogs who present a comfy black and white view of the world. The fact that I posted an article by X does not mean that I agree/endorse/support with X in general or about every single sentence in his/her article.
Second: I am only accountable for what I actually write. I am not accountable for paraphrases of my words beginning with “in other words…” not am I accountable for sentences taking out of context. If I say “A” at the top of an article and some wise-ass finds out that “in other words” I seem to have implied “non-A” somewhere further down, then that his his/her problem, not mine. So solution here is not for me to change what I wrote or how I write, but to take reading or text comprehension classes (sorry, I don’t have the time to provide those). Which brings me to my last point:
Third: I believe that our world is an immensely complex environment and that very few things, are simply black and white. Furthermore, it rarely is possible to reduce an fact-based and logically constructed opinion into a short sentence or, even less so, a lone-line slogan. And that means that being critical does not mean being disloyal any more than being un-critical means being a real friend, ally or supporter.
“Permission to speak freely” my dear readers?
Frankly, I am tired, really tired of these silly and sophomoric accusations. Yes, I know, they come with the territory. So this is why I wrote this little clarification. And the the next time some comment accuses me of being this or that or it’s opposite or both at the same time, I will simply post a link to this post.
Not to be rude to anybody, and with all due respect, I have neither the time nor inclination to constantly deal with the barrage of nonsense.
And, finally, just to end of a gay note, may I post the following absolutely baseless but nevertheless “feel good” question:
How do I know that all these critiques are not, in fact, all CIA-hired trolls? Or maybe Mossad sayanim? Maybe every single person who dares to criticize me is in reality an evil agent of some kind of nefarious worldwide anti-Saker conspiracy! Think of it, we don’t even know how many Jews comment here (gasp of utter horror!!!). Or Muslims (aaaahhhhh!!)! Or Serbian Chetniks (dead silence at the horror of the thought). It is not surprising that these attacks *SEEM* to come from very different positions? Maybe this kind of PSEUDO-diversity is the clear proof of one Evil Hand trying to strangle a angelically innocent Saker whose infallible purity and infinite wisdom just enrages the NWO!

The issue that I see is that there is an ongoing trend to view the world through binary blinkers -black white, good evil -‘if you are not for us you are against us’, reductio ad absurdum.
Prevalent amongst extremes of right and left and indeed any extremist ideology that allows no other point of view I can believe it is, if not a CIA conspiracy, then certainly encouraged by them and the mass media. A ‘dumbed down’ populace is a submissive and controllable one. Crtical thinking is an antidote to Hegemonic memes and therefore deprecated.
Really, other than informing truthfully -information that cuts through the manufactured MSM pablum out there, there is little to gain by preaching to the choir. I entirely agree. Your publication of opposing points of view (all of which have been well written and thoughtful) is one of the reasons I trust you and your site over all. When some with whom I communicate accuse me of over-reliance on such a “one-sided” blog such as yours I routinely send them examples of your postings of contrary points of view. They never respond.
I was once asked why I trust you. My response is that my criteria for reliability is contingent on one thing: In any editorial, opinion piece, etc. the author invariably makes explicit or implicit predictions–much like scientific theories. The greater the frequency with which those predictions come true, the more reliable I consider the source. It doesn’t matter whether it is “The Saker” or “Auto Trader” magazine. If the predictions, stated or implied in the analyses, prove to be accurate, the source, the author, may be presumed to know what he/she is talking about and deserves one’s attention.
I am no fan of The Huffington Post or the New York Times but I have read brilliant analyses in them both. In these times especially, as accurate information and analyses as possible is indispensible–wherever you can find it. Thank you Saker!

Yes, U.S.S.R. was building up defense industry – because it didn’t want to be attacked again. Offense was never the purpose!

The fear of the Soviet Union was initiated by Kennan’s ‘Long telegram’, sent on February 22 1946 from Moscow to James Byrnes in State Department, Washington D.C. The telegram was later reprinted as an article in Foreign Affairs, called ‘The Sources of Soviet Conduct’, where he pictured Russians as too “insecure and untrusting and too obsessed with protecting their borders.” A portion of Kennan’s ‘Long Telegram’ was selectively quoted to the public to make an image of evil Russia that is looking to take over the world.
Another part of telegram, stating that the Soviet Union is actually much weaker than the US and doesn’t pose a danger to America was omitted: “Gauged against Western World as a whole, Soviets are still by far the weaker force.” Not just “weaker” – the economy of Soviet Union after the war was a fraction of American economy. But that part got ignored – the telegram was enough to send Pentagon, and propaganda machine into motion. Building weapons is a profitable business, after all.

It works like this: The CIA can manipulate anyone into saying or doing anything and anyone else into commenting on it. The beauty of this is that anyone and everyone can become a “CIA agent” unknowingly.

You are “talking it out” with someone who cares and does understand.

So, why don’t you just employ a much harsher moderation policy? You do not owe anybody anything; if you do not like a comment, do not publish it. Take Dmitriy Orlov @cluborlov – he only lets through comments that he considers intelligent.
If the wrong person moderates, it ruins a forum. Every good blog I ever found was eventually ruined by all means necessary.
Your blog is amazing Sakar … how else would we learn about Syria and the Ukraine. The day the PTB hijack your blog, we will know, because they will shut it down.

I was quite surprised at the timing of your letter and wondered what had happened for you to have written such a note.
Was it perhaps the VPO post? The comments section of the VPO article is full of CIA accusations.
Regarding the VPO article, I didn’t agree with the author’s recommendations, so I didn’t comment. I thought the subject was interesting as VPO’s such as Otpor, Pussy riot, and the Soros funded organisations have been used for regime change in many countries.
Looking at the comments however, it seems this was interpreted in a completely different way by some of our left wing friends. It was interesting to read about their points, certain were valid, certain were abusive. It’s one thing to have a point of view, but when that point of view becomes so militant that it prevents you from seeing any other perspective but your own then its a problem…
It’s our collective problem, because it means a less vibrant discussion as some readers might be inclined to self censorship in order not to be targeted by an ad hominem attack, or being buried under an avalanche of comments (usually by one person). It seems like some people consider certain historical political figures or beliefs as “holy” and cannot handle any criticism about them.
Anyway, I hope this blog can overcome this. It’s still the CIA to me (Clever Incisive Analysis)

Eimar, there are several posts accusing the article being “pro -empire”, “Parody of newspeak/empire”, “Pro-establishment” . I didn’t agree with the article myself, but I believe much more objective criticisms could have been made.

So much disinformation in MSM, fake blogs like Bellingcat, SOHR. Fake analysts, fake human rights organisations.
Russian English language world news, SputniK/RT is often bland, a number of articles from western writers ect, a lot of the alternative media sites with a lot of filler material.
Depressing.
Ghassan Kadi writing one article saying Muslim/Islam in general (by omission including both Shia and Sunni) was to blame for daesh and that they must change, rather than US being largely responsible was plenty for everyone to argue over. A second article pushing the same point was depressing, and disappointing coming from this site.
Although I scan the headlines in MSM to see what is happening in Orwell’s world, and also do the same at some alternative media sites, I have narrowed my reading down to just a few journalists/analysts – Escobar, Mercouris Cartilucci ect. Simply too much filler material in many of the alternative news sites. A few twitter accounts to keep up with what is happening on the ground in Syria and your site.
The people around me, although they believe the US is the biggest threat to world peace, also believe that the likes of Russia, China, Iran, Syria, Muslims ect are all very bad too because that is all they hear. None will take the time to do their own research. Depressing.
On anything Russian military, most things Russian for that matter Saker articles are top of the line and much appreciated.

In this respect, of continuous flattery, we have also complained sometimes, because it is something that we find hard to stand with, especially when that is only thing you can read from some commenters after two and a half years observation / reading.
Articles by Ghassan Kadi seem very interesting to us, but we detect a subtle attempt to equalize the blame among the Shii clergy and the Sunni clergy on the issue of fundamentlsm and that seems to us maladjusted to reality, as we see the crookedest balance, or rather totally, to the Sunni side, especially the Sunni relative or belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood. Also we detect a subtle attempt to relieve the burden of blame pertaining to the CIA in this issue of ISIS and this is what we seem an absurdity as big as a truck.
Gavin Don´s article seems to us pure propaganda, and we have already explained why in the comments section, and what seems worse to us is that he put in a same list of terrorist organizations ISIS with Hezbollah, and until there we could get! What surprised us a lot is that The Saker, who, of course, we consider a friend of Hezbollah ( we were ignorant that he was also a fan ) has not intervened in the comments section, as usual, to qualify his oppinion about this.
Well, this is all we wanted to clarify from here, it’s too late here in Tel Aviv and tomorrow we have to get up early, just add that we will continue discussing and criticizing what we deem appropriate, always with the greatest respect possible, if we continue to be wellcomed in the blog and we continue to count on the hospitality and friendship of the owner.

My partner has asked me to transmit that lately we found that this blog has greatly improved in terms of censorship, being the moderation less sharp than some time ago, allowing, in our opinion, a wider range of comments, included, of course, those in disagreement and that are more critical, and this, we believe, is in favour of the richness of debate and at the same time served as deterrent for regular trolls / commentators who, instead of commenting, are dedicated to disqualify what others do with the sole aim of adding to the blog. It was a relief to see these “hunters”/”haters” disappear, but we note that have felt guests again taking advantage of this rant of The Saker.

I am a Serbian Chetnik, so from one Serbian Chetnik to an alleged Serbian Saker Chetnik I will say this, I judge sites/blogs, such as this one, on the quality of the information and analysis. Period. I also judge comments on the quality of their argumentation, so when people make petty comments, or take issue with certain terminology such as ‘Anglozioinst’ or whatever, this just speaks volumes about them & those volumes say nothing complimentary. If criticism is not constructive it is not criticism, and if it is not criticism then – on a site such as this – what is it? CIA trolling? Maybe, wouldn’t put it past them, they do actually engage in that kind of activity, or the NSA do. So they may well be doing it on this site. I have plenty of criticisms of articles on this site, but I just take issue with the perspective offered, I do not read into the motives of the author as being dictated by this or that intelligence agency. I took real issue with the piece written on ex-Yugoslavia/Balkans recently – I can’t remember the author’s name & can’ t be bothered to look it up – where he made the argument that the problems in ex-Yugoslavia was essentially rival nationalisms. I took serious issue with this, & even would go so far as to say this was a somewhat Serbophobic/anti-Serbian perspective, but I did not extrapolate from that the Saker’s site is somehow a NATO psyop. Some people need to grow up. I never got round to commenting on that article, in all honesty, in the end, I couldn’t be bothered. Had I commented though it would have been pure argument based on the facts as I see them & know them, nothing personal. Those who get personal, well, they have an agenda, simple, or an axe to grind, otherwise they wouldn’t get personal. So I wouldn’t worry about such nonsense, who needs readers who take issue with terms like Anglozionist? Or take issue at all? Why would some one take issue with anything on this site? If you agree, fine, if you don’t, present your alternative view in the comments section, have a debate, prove your point. To these petty type people who feel they have the right to throw around accusations & accuse the Saker or anyone else of being an agent of such & such, I would say go to another site or blog if you don’t like it, what the hell are you doing on this blog if you are so petty as to take issue with a point of view, or terminology? Representing a wide variety of opinions is quite commendable. We support the struggle of socialists in Venezuela, but the country is definitely not a paradise on Earth of freedom and satisfied citizenry. And neither are Russia & China. When I first came across this title this AM, I thought this can’t be serious stuff and it surely must be some kind of joke, so with a smirk on my face and coffee in hand I went on to read what I fully expected to be an entertainingly hilarious parody of some kind of humorous Monty Python show or Saturday Night Alive or The Theater of the Absurd comical scripts coming my way today.
What I didn’t expect is that you would take any of this utter nonsense to heart and feel any need to rebuff what are obviously either mindlessly vacuous claims made by the hopelessly inane or otherwise the kinds of viciously contrived groundless accusations, desperately emanating from the CIA and your own sworn foes.
In either case I feel it’s both not only a waste of your precious time and energy to try and respond rationally to the kind of mentality that would question your good intentions or otherwise fabricate some fatuous conspiracy theory out of thin air in a vain attempt to denigrate your true aspirations to enlighten us all, by casting a vile and dark shadow over your motives, being how it’s wholly beneath your dignity of ever having a need to respond to this kind of filth in the first place.
Just as Putin feels no need to personally respond to the countless personal attacks waged against his integrity as a statesman and leader of the Russian Federation.

Long time reader but First time poster here.
Frankly, I really like this sort of heartfelt venting of frustration from our Saker. Why shouldn’t he share a justifiable frustration over these seemingly small injustices? One, a cathartic article is good for the blood pressure. Two, these misinterpretations are emblematic of the mental frameworks that cause so many problems in the world.
It seems to me that it takes a certain level of sensitivity to both appreciate the nuances of our worlds’ predicaments and to feel a principled moral outrage over the naked dominative motivations of the illicitly powerful. I believe along with that perception and sensitivity comes a somewhat thin skin. In my travels, I’ve found the thick skinned to have sturdy mental boundaries that garner not only an emotional imperviousness– but also morph into an insularity from new information that hobbles reasoned analysis. This just doesn’t appear to be the Saker’s M.O. But that’s just my opinion as an INFP who falls on the political compass as somewhat left/collectivist and very non-authoritarian.
Sure, I find myself in sharp disagreement with the Saker at times, but his conscientious attention to doing right by all available evidence is a remarkable breath of fresh air. That and the temerity to take a principled stand on the realities as they have become. We know what the Saker’s moral viewpoints are; he’s truthfully revealed them to us.
I find it funny that when I disagree with the Saker on some social or cultural issues, it is in such an agreeable fashion!
I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that before; I think the Saker’s self-revealed motivations make all the difference. I appreciate that honesty. Is that not why most readers keep coming back?
May the only decline in the Saker’s readership be the result of the realization of greater justice in the world. There’s an inverse relationship between the justness of the world and the need for great cosmic whistleblowers like the Saker.

While I have a lot of things in you I like; there are also other things I dislike.
However, I can accept the fact that the world is not to my own image and liking (and it would be a quite boring world if it where so uniform).
Alas, a lot of people has been raised in complete intellectual vacuum, and are simply unable to cope with complexity. Complexity utterly afraid them, and they prefer to stick to a simplification of you being some XXX-agent, as that is easier for their minds.
And it doesn’t matter if one week you are a Stalin-lover, and the next a Stalin-basher, because simple minds lack temporal depth, they live in the “Big Now”, without any context nor culture allowing to understand or ponderate things (which exacerbates even more their incomprehension and fear of the events).
Those attacks are not (at least not in their majority) a structurated attack by CIA or whatever; it’s just a consequence of the low intellectual level of our times.
And just to end my message; I want to tell you that I consider you someone to trust; because you are Honest (yes, with a capital h :) ). You may be wrong sometimes, but you showed the ability to recognize when you are wrong and change your view and positions; you even did that in ways that are truly amazing and show that you have very strong principles, deeply rooted on the good side.

I think you should not concern yourself too much with the ones who shout and scream (in typing, hahaha). True there are a lot of trolls around, but they are either misguided or paid, usually the latter.
I have worked with you before, I know you are honest and say what you feel, you don’t hold back or pull no punches.

Well, our colleague on night duty has passed to us a report on the comments here and we have concluded that some commentators who comment little or nothing ( but not for vagrancy itself, no, given the time required to read the posts and try to argue either in agreement or, but mainly, in disagreement ) they do it, apparently, because they feel that the high quality of their comments would be buried in the avalanche of the usual hogwash, among others, we, publish here, lately, almost on a daliy basis.
Therefore, given the good weather that is in the offing, we have decided self-moderate and self-censure us a little, or rather mostly, and take a well earn vacation ahead in order to attend other aspects of our work / life we have neglected because of our excessive dedication to this blog in particular.
Therefore, the blog is yours, boys and girls out there, in the North, South, East and West, surprise us!

But I think that in the case of contributors/commenters for them would be enough doing the so called “character assassination” in order to destroy their credibility and this way disabling them as trusted commenters.

I’m glad you wrote this. I sometimes get the same criticisms just because I read non-traditional–whatever that means–information sources. I read left, mid-left, far left, center, center-right, far right, and anarcho/libertarian; I read militia, Christian Identity, Black Power, MeChA, and La Raza; I read everything in-between. Isn’t that how one becomes not only well-read, but also well informed? But, the thought police seem to exist all around and honestly those on the so-called left can be as much a SWAT outfit as the LAPD.
