My understanding is that Gonzolo is a Chilean citizen who spent many years in America but is a legal resident of Ukraine and has some sort of ties to the United Kingdom as well. I do not believe he has any connection with America except an ex-wife.

Yes, Reddit and other sites say that he’s an American citizen – as far as it goes that appears to be the case, although according to him he is Chilean by ancestry (dual citizenship – no idea). He said in one of his videos that he’s married to a Ukrainian woman. But he immediately hung up on a guy who sounded exactly like Gonzalo. The voice was muffled, not quite the enthusiastic Gonzo we are used to but it was definitely him.

That he would totally disappear for 48 hours and suddenly turn up on Galloway’s show didn’t and still don’t make sense.
The call you are referring to was identified as “Marcus is in Chorley in England.” It consisted of the words “Hi George” spoken with a slight English accent and the word “Hallo.” Gonzalo has said “hello” before on the Duran podcast when reconnecting after having been cut off. This caller sounded nothing like that and it almost certainly wasn’t Gonzolo Lira, who does not speak with an English accent.
That’s obviously not the call I’m referring to. Pay attention and listen from the point were he gave up on Lira and started to take the calls.
Why is Lira in Kharkov? He has made a few videos while there, none of which shed much, if any, light on what’s happening on the ground in and around that city. There was a very interesting one about Victoria Nuland’s atavistic rage and another about those who vanish. But he could have made those lounging by the pool on his parents’ ranch outside Santiago, in a loft in Manhattan or in a bedsit in Soho. So, again, why is he in Kharkov? He is there to establish a brand for himself as ‘our man in Kharkov’. He is engaged in a marketing exercise as part of an investment plan which he hopes will earn him your dollars. In short, he is a conman. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with being a conman. I’ve known a few and the best of them are good company by virtue of their intelligence, wit and charm. Or maybe his silence is a theatrical device to hold the breathless attention of his followers. Who knows? But I don’t like his chances. I think he miscalculated badly in traveling to Kharkov, possibly on the assumption that the city would be one of the first to be liberated by the Russians. He wasn’t to know that the plan would be to mostly bypass the major urban centres. Time is certainly on the Russians’ side but it is definitely not on Lira’s. On the other hand, he is a smart guy so I don’t write him off just yet. I hope he finds a way to safety.

I am today writing a hard copy letter to the Ukraine ambassador to the UK noting that Gonzalo has probably been taken by the SBU, and demanding that he be kept safe, and released in short order to a safe jurisdiction.
Hard copy letters have much more impact than emails, and cannot be removed by spam filters.
The impact of many thousands of letters arriving at Ukrainian embassies around Europe is hard to overestimate. If we collectively act now Gonzalo’s life may be saved (if he is not already dead).

The status of Mr Gonzalo Lira in Kharkiv
I write to you to express my deep concern as to the status and safety of a Mr Gonzalo Lira.
Mr Lira is a citizen of Chile, who is legally resident in the city of Kharkiv.
I have strong reason to believe that he has been detained by agents of the Security Service of Ukraine (the SBU) without legal cause and in breach of his rights both as a legal resident of the state of Ukraine and as a human being.
Mr Lira has not, as far as I am aware, committed any crime under Ukrainian law.
I also have strong reason to believe that the SBU intend great harm to Mr Lira, and have no intention of submitting him to any due legal process.
I call on you to use your best efforts, as a matter of great urgency, to ensure that Mr Lira is (a) kept safe, (b) released unharmed, and/or (c) conveyed to a safe third-party jurisdiction as soon as possible.
In the event that it transpires that Mr Lira does indeed suffer harm at the hands of agents of the Ukrainian state I shall take steps to publicise this letter, with its date of origin, in as wide a fashion as is available to me.
I trust that you will give this matter your urgent attention

A man has gone missing, his family are reading these pages, and the posts have been mostly full of contempt or very specific about Gonzalo ‘s possible predicament. Very few posts have been about his well being, which goes to show the general arrogance and lack of compassion folk generally have. The Saker calls it indifference on these pages. You might all feel different if mortars start landing on your street.
