I shouldn’t have let my hopes climb so high when Meloni said the things I desperately wanted to hear… and of course she said them in such a powerful and eloquent fashion. It is now apparent that this rise to power of a genuine challenger to the status quo was more than likely simply too good to be true.
I won’t be laying any bets on this one… I’ll play this one safe and stand by with lashings of beers and popcorn.
The tragedy for me though is that I adore Italy, its culture and the passion of its people… and yet all I can see ahead is even more tragedy and drama.
