The drivel the German mainstream press fabricates is really hard to swallow.
I think it is worthwhile to compare the reporting about MH17 and the recently downed Russian airliner.
In the case of MH17 it was difficult and took days to get to the hard facts on the ground. But the press could (and did) not wait to roll out a prefabricated media campaign, that without any doubt concluded that Russian backed separatists had shot down the airliner with a Russian made missile.

No group claimed responsibility for the incident. And the alleged perpetrators had no apparent motive to shoot down the plane.
The story did not make sense at all.
Why did the “Russian backed separatists” shoot down the airliner? What could they hope to gain from doing so? Might they have done it by accident? By order of Putin?
At least thinking about the motive must be a no-brainer for any self-respecting journalist; but nothing like that was to be found in mainstream reporting.
The only two halfway plausible scenarios if the Russians are somehow behind this would be:
It was an accident of some sort, but the political implications of admitting the mistake are seen as so problematic, that the Russians decided to cover it up.
It was a deliberate show of force and a threat by the Russians to NATO, that they have the means, and more importantly the will, to indiscriminately kill civilians just to make a point.
(Sort of similar to the use of the atomic weapons against Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which, I think, was first of all important for the USA to send a message to the Soviet Union, rather than to win the war against the Japanese, who were willing to surrender anyway.)
But in the German media it was just: “It was Putin! He eats Ukrainian children for breakfast!”
No questions asked or answered…
Now a Russian plane has crashed.
And a terror organization that is almost undeniably funded by “the West and/or it’s allies” (what is referred here usually as “the empire”) has claimed responsibility.
But the German press is very careful about not pointing fingers.
Saying that they have to wait for the evaluation of the black boxes and do not want to fuel irresponsible speculations.
The press reports that they think it is unlikely that the IS terrorists have anti-aircraft counter measures that could shoot down a jetliner close to cruising altitude.
I would not be so sure, but be that as it may, I think it is probably easier to smuggle a bomb aboard a plane.
But this time the story of the actually confessing terrorists at least makes some sort of sense.
I think the reporting of the German press regarding the downing of the Russian aircraft and the stark contrast to the reporting of the MH17 tragedy is notable, because it shows that the mainstream media in Germany is not at all interested in telling the truth. And not even in selling papers. If that were so they would at least sensationalize everything equally.
But they do not.
There is no neutral reporting, everything is interpreted through an ideological filter. They are invested in selling a narrative.
If the facts do not fit the narrative they will be omitted, underreported, distorted or lied about.
Other “convenient facts” might be made up on the spot.
Sources who fit the narrative will be reported as fact, while sources conflicting with the narrative will be dismissed as lunatic fringe opinions if they cannot be suppressed completely.
Anyone who can look at the reporting about these two incidents and not see that the mainstream media in Germany is totally corrupt, biased and dishonest must be blind on both eyes.
The refugee situation also continues to get more and more ridiculous.
The CSU had put some pressure on the government regarding this question, including threatening to sue the government in the highest court of the county (as reported in my last sitrep) and culminating in the threat to leave the governing coalition if an ultimatum deadline for last weekend was not met.
The article is very interesting and cites a lot of the facts regarding the situation that I would otherwise mention anyway. I strongly recommend reading it, but I think the author is dead wrong in his conclusion.
It is highly unlikely that Merkel is going to survive this politically. And I am sure she knows it.
The negative social impact of the sustained and uncontrolled influx of migrants to Germany in violation of European and German law will be so severe and painful that sooner or later enough people will demand a change of policy.
The political establishment just wants to put the sacrifice off for as long as possible to keep their game going for as long as possible.
When fear and anger in Germany begin to reach a tipping point Merkel might just step down on her own, or appear to be overthrown, whatever works best to install a successor who can keep on doing the same thing for as long as possible.
The cohesion of the German government was demonstrated once more this week when German minister of the interior Thomas de Maiziere declared that Syrian refugees would no longer have certain privileges over other migrants:

This really does not look like a stable, coherent government to me.
This is a complete travesty of a government and actually tyranny.
Which can be demonstrated by the simple fact that the political elite is still debating possible new laws or policies, but the executive is no longer enforcing existing laws and regulations.
In effect the government has declared that laws will be respected as and if their experts see fit.
As a person you are of course subject to the law. The state can hold you accountable for rules that you might not even agree with and have voted against.
But the state cannot be held accountable even by its own laws and standards?!
People in Germany are afraid to speak their minds because they are afraid of being labeled Nazis, while the next fascist takeover has already started.

Today on Spanish mainstream television (La Sexta’s “Rojo Vivo”) it was estimated that the ex-president of Catalunya Jordi Pujol and his family stole as much as 3 billion euros during his 25 years as President of Catalunya.
Yesterday, Artur Mas, “president in functions” of the Regional Government of Catalunya and leader of the right wing establishment party Convergencia (previously led by Jordi Pujol), in a Parliamentary speech lasting 90 minutes, never mentioned the word corruption.
I should tell you that the father of Artur Mas was the family accountant for the Pujol’s.
Within the independent movement in Catalunya there are people who genuinely believe. There are other’s who use the debate for their own political ends. Rajoy uses it in order that no one speaks about corruption and austerity, Artur Mas is another and he uses it for the exact same reasons and then to retain power. Its a good example of two right wing politicians ganging together to make each other look good!
And just to add: In the recent Catalan regional elections, Junts pel si (led by Artur Mas) and the CUP (an anti-system and Marxist party) – who together make up the independent movement and turned the election into a de facto referendum – received a total of 47.8% of the vote. 47.8% is not a democratic mandate for independence. It is as simple as that.
What you are talking about is simple hooliganism in support of two political parties who first of all refuse to except they lost, and secondly a right wing establishment party that is trying to hide its own institutional corruption behind a nationalist flag. Catalunya is not Ukraine – fascism still exists here, but it is not Ukraine. Your suggestion of a Catalan Army is I am sorry to say, just ridiculous.

I repeat: Catalunya is not Ukraine. Spain is not Ukraine. It is as simple as that.
Your line of thinking is a distortion of the reality. The Catalans are not being threatened by the Spanish Military. The Interior Minister in Madrid has already stated that they are not sending in the Guardia Civil (the military police). What has happened so far is that the Catalan Regional police “los Mossos” have been told to investigate any form of “sedition”.
If someone does let of a bomb or shoot a politician in the name of a future Republica Catalana, then both Spanish and Catalan societies would be so offended that any idea of independence would be finished. The example is ETA and the Basque region.
Spain is made up of a plurality of different regions and languages. Just as there are Catalans there are Basques, Galicians, Asturians, Aragones and so forth. This is not a situation of Catalans vs. “the Spanish”.
Of course the government of Rajoy could have been better, much better. But so could Mas, whose objective has been simply to cover up his political parties institutional corruption.
On 20th December there are national elections in Spain. What is happening in Catalunya is only giving Rajoy more popularity. The Catalan independentistas don’t want Podemos to have any power in Madrid, because they know they will be forced to compromise. Podemos is proposing a referendum, a new Plurinational constitution. Mas, Forcadell and the CUP don’t respond, instead they voted down a proposal for a referendum only last Monday!
And just on more piece of news: This week the Head of the Spanish Military joined Podemos as its potential Defence Minister. Rajoy immediately sacked him.

The separatists in Catalunya have very little to do with the Basques.
Even though the CUP is collective of Marxists intellectuals and anti system anarchists, on the whole, the current move towards the creation of a Catalan Republic is led by Convergencia – a right wing neoliberal party closely associated to the Catalan establishment.
This afternoon the government in Madrid announced it was seeking to suspend 21 Catalan politicians it considers responsible for Monday’s declaration of independence. The vast majority of the 21 are from the ruling Convergencia party.
The general opinion of the Spanish right wing press towards the CUP is that they have a lot of integrity. For the moment Rajoy is not targeting any politician or public figure of the CUP or for that matter the Republican Catalan party ERC.

It is a very complex situation with many different agendas. In short Spain needs a new constitution which has only changed once since Franco died. Lets see what happens after the election in December.
On an emotional level, I understand the Catalan people. On a rational level, I don’t. If even big Spain has no powers against the bullying EU and NATO, with US on top of the structure, where would a small Catalonia stand? It is pointless. They will be nobody in this circus of puppets. Or do they really believe that they will be free? (Funny but they will probably want to be in the EU – changing one set of masters for the other, but worse).
Look what has been done in Eastern Europe. Someone has been very keen to split countries as much as possible (like Yugoslavia), put puppet governments in place to rule them all and set them against each other when needed. Divide and conquer. And the populations in those countries are so small now that they cannot resist any action against them. They are doomed until they grow up and start uniting with their neighbours.

This is very logical, when you think about it. Anyone who knows anything about the media business is aware that, as a rule, advertising revenue vastly outweighs revenue from sales to the public. A newspaper might get 80% of its revenue from advertisers, and only 20% or so from sales receipts. In the case of broadcasting, often the service is free of charge and all the money comes from advertisers – who therefore have absolute control.
But even in that case, the advertisers have to defer somewhat to the producers who know what audiences like. Because if everyone switches off, no one will see the advertisements.
What could be more natural and, indeed, inevitable than that, over time, the media should resort to being funded predominantly by the biggest advertiser of them all – government? Now this introduces some important changes to the business model. First and perhaps most important, as well as the threat of reducing or withdrawing business, the patron can threaten legal proceedings – or even, secretly, violence up to and including death. (As documented by Udo Ulfkotte, who did not publish his book until he knew he had only a short time to live).
Also, when government becomes the media’s patron, it does not really care about any financial return. Instead, it is looking for political results, in the shape of changed public perception. Hence the noted lack of interest in telling the truth, or even in selling papers. Because if the citizens turn away from Bild in disgust (for a while), they will probably just buy other papers – which will tell the same story, perhaps in slightly different words. And anyway, the government doesn’t care if Bild goes out of business.
Tom, this IS the situation currently in the US. During the early stages of the Iraq war, subscriptions were way down @ NYT & WP, they all cut news staff, and they lost advertising revenue. Why are they still in operation?; or rather, who pays for Tommy Friedman’s 1st class travel? CIA has paid writers and editors since its inception. It’s as if Julius Streicher is a role model for journalists, and not the criminal that he was found to be.

Government can revoke license to broadcast.

There has been a lot speculation over the motives behind the “migration crisis” in the EU.
Obviously we are dealing with a “multiple-agendas-event” here. The main factors must/could be:
a) Deprive Assad from troops. Demographic drainage of Syria.
b) Erdogan (allowed/encouraged by the US/UK/FRA/GCC) blackmailing Mittel-Europa.
c) Acceleration of the long-term project of transforming the European nations into a multicultural Empire where oligarchic control would be more effective.
d) Blame Russia.
e) Destabilizing certain undesirable “regimes”. Those of Hungary, Macedonia and Serbia come to mind.

Well — yes and no. As I just looked there myself, I found that nearly all the latest comments (in a rapidly growing dungheap) were typically “Westish”. To wit: mostly void, arrogant, fully supportive parroting of the journalist’s blathering. Whether this is to be considered “ineffective” depends on what you believe was the intended result: An intelligent discussion about Russia’s leadership and its prospects for the future, or just another imbecilic outburst of Russia-bashing.
Well these are ever present. I look at the “most popular/replied” and most of them were about the clintons, bushes and so on getting incredibly rich and generally seeing trough the hipocrisy. I generally think that things are shifting in terms of public opinion if only because the propaganda is getting ridiculous(in substance and quantity). Not to mention that many of the comments you mention(not only under this article) seem like a sloppy job of people that are engaged in a concentrated campaign. At least that’s the way they seem to me.

The only EU country which is ready to liberate Berlin from following the Dublin agreement, will be Greece, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
