The film is almost uncritically laudatory, but the smarminess of serbian Otpor ringleaders sticks out. I also noticed the way his sneering protege laughed when the CIA (red herring) was brought up– I guess that we dumb peasants aren’t smart enough to know the National Endowment for democracy, and the International Republican Institute.
I posted the link to the trailer, not sure if the film is available online (I watched a recording). It is worth watching in its entirety. Without impugning Dr. Sharp’s motives, “nonviolence” is now part of the hybrid war toolkit, providing the much need footwork for a justified use of force. My thinking is that violence is just too indispensable, hence the cartoon-esque antics of IS, which producers and directors try to massage and finesse, justifying unclear policy objectives.
A very good and truthful video. It shows what happens when people allow themselves to be fooled. And when governments won’t do the hard work needed to prevent these things. Had Yanukovitch stopped this maidan at the beginning Ukraine would have been saved and thousands of lives saved. Certainly it would have come at a cost to him. He would have been demonized.And sanctions by the West put on him. But all that and more happened to him anyway. And a good leader accepts their own fate if he helps their country. Something as we easily see is not widespread among World leaders. His fate should be a sign to Putin and any others that seek to deal with the West.Not to waste their time attempting that.And instead just do what is needed to stop that subversion in their countries. The most telling part of the video was when he talked about the warning in that film of what was coming and that it was ignored by those in power and able to do something to stop the coup.
