It’s a start to my ‘dream scenario’. I’ve noticed all along the way the NAF have distinguished the volunteer fascist battalions/mercenaries from the regular UAF. The ceasefire violations that began almost instantly were attributed to the fascists , not the UAF.
Now that orders to essentially destroy Donbass have been sent from Washington, these guys have had enough. Yes. they are all deeply connected to the region, but their views are, it seems, quite representative of a much larger segment of the officer class they were a part of.
The scrupulous behaviour of the NAF (Givi’s entirely-justified anger aside) re POWs by comparison to the savagery meted out by the fascists (now too much for the PR/spin from Kiev to handle, hence the Tornado op ) is bearing fruit: yep, there are good guys and bad guys. Choose.
I really hope to see those conscripts evading the SIXTH mobilization make their way to Donetsk…
They have been brought out to create a stir, to address the officers remaining with Kiev, to tell them to change sides. Apart from the two who said they’re retired, they’re not saying details. Nothing about units or where they served or when they came over.
Only Russian language sites wrote about this the first two days. Two TV channels mentioned them but quoted only Kolomiets, while showing the wide angle view where all of them were visible. This would create the impression to viewers that they are all current defections. The hope is to encourage others to come over, while demoralising their civilian supporters.
UAF spokesman Andy Lyashko didn’t know anything about it, when first asked. Then came back with the information that Kolomiets had been fired in 2008 for incompetence (what? took them 19 years to find out?) then rehired in 2012 as a civilian analyst but fired again in a few months for not reporting his travels to Moscow which a soldier is obliged to do (but hang on wasn’t he a civilian??). So they are trying to make him out to be a bad guy and long gone, which probably indicates he is quite a big loss to them and maybe active duty when he switched. There are 13 or 14 partial videos of this interview. In one he mentions he had to wait, to get his family safely out of Kiev first.
The timing of this was deliberate and indicates inside knowledge of what Poroshenko is up to. There are more purges coming. He’s doing SBU now (and Donbass just got real defectors from there who would still have information lines open). Then maybe the army, as Pravy Sector is showing a lot of unrest about the war being stopped.
So it is a good time to parade a big bunch of high level (and clearly well looked after) defectors, to give the others a choice, a safe place to go if they fear being purged (and the more they argue against kill orders, the likelier it is they’ll be removed).
The two brothers from SBU (one from Kiev, one from the embassy ijn France) are going to have criminal cases against them for treason. These were not in war-related positions. SBU is equivalent of KGB, so secret services.
You are right this was a psy-ops show. And there needs to be many more of them.We need to convince as many of the “on the fence” UAF soldiers to defect to the right side.It will harm the fascists, and frankly it means less enemies for the NAF to have to fight. From the very first I’ve thought Russia should have helped sponsor a military coup to topple the junta and save Ukraine from fascism (I still do).
Kat Kan..you’re brilliant !! That makes so much sense…my first comment was the same as the guy at the top of the thread who says better late than never….I said the same thing…
Awesome video. It should be shown throughout Banderastan. The UAF soldiers need to see they can (and should) save themselves.Defect to the the NAF and cleanse their honor before it is too late for them. When victory finally does come there will be a “reckoning”.And those men should worry to be seen being on the side of freedom and not stooges of the fascist junta.
These are not dyed in the wool 5th generation ethnic Russians, either. Career soldiers who served in Afghanistan were SOVIET soldiers. Many of them adopted Donbass from living there for work. They are Ukrainians, gone to Donbass not for some Novorossiya dream, but to preserve their honour as soldiers, to stop supporting a government that is killing its own people and dirtying the hands of its soldiers by making them do it.
“Don’t get blood on your hands” one of them says “hands that you will need for rebuilding with”.
They had the one speechwriter.
One very important thing — anyone on the other side now knows exactly who to call to arrange things, if they want to come over. This video is a sign post for the escape conduit. Some may be bringing more people with them, if they are the decent kind of commander who doesn’t abandon his men.
This will depend on how close they feel they are to the end. Everyone has to consider what may happen to family they leave behind. It may be easier to leave during a big battle, as Kiev doesn’t care too much about collecting their dead, so would not know if someone died or defected. Some of the huge death figures recently given by DPR for Kiev troops (but denied by Kiev) may have actually been defections, eg 400 at Maryinka.
That ´s great, thanks Saker and Tatzhit for this translation.
They all have good people faces. Good people are on the side of the people of Donbass, on our side. Welcome, guys!
If these officers worked some on intelligence, may be is already known that the Nazi junta has already all gone.
As Kolomiets said, who is not now passing to the side of justice and truth, will have to answer for war crimes.
Russia probably has a lot of friends in the Ukrainian forces who would prefer to be fighting with Novorossiya, but who remain in the Ukraine so that they can continue to gather intelligence for Russia.
ok let’s make some simple question ….. where was this senior Officers, at the latest two year ???? why there were absent of the latest fights of the Donbass people, for freedom and dignity ???? I am o lower ranging Officer of the Greek army and I am not trusting the emotional speech of this army man …. i am not convinced by their well spoken and emotional speeches ….
Thank you for translating this speech !
better late (very late) than never…
true. feel free to help with translations anytime!
No Saker, i think when he talks later he reffers about the act of Mr. Kolomiets, not the translation.
oops, in that case both my bad and my apologies!
Just excellent!

Hi Saker, this is huge..these look like real men….how come it took them so long ? They have only just defected now ?
now I understand thanks to Kat Kan’s brilliant deduction….
Great men…..with souls and Hearts….:-)
