The video below is an excerpt of a recent one hour long tribute on Russia TV to a 30 year old officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Magomed Nurbagandov. Here is a summary of what happened: Magomed (Mohamed/Muhammad in Russian) was camping with a friend in a forest when recruiters for ISIS/Daesh stumbled upon them. They woke them up, beat them a little and searched them. When they found Magomed’s picture ID as a police junior lieutenant, they asked him if that was him. He answered that yes, it was. They they told him to appeal to his fellow officers to resign from their jobs (it was understood that this was the only way to save his life). He refused and said “[continue to] work, brothers”. Irritated, one of the Takfiris then said “he is courageous because he is drunk” and murdered him (he was not drunk, he had just been sleeping all night; also, accusing a fellow Muslim of drinking was, of course, meant as in insult). They then released the video on a Takfiri website cutting away the part were Magomed defiantly not only refused to obey, but told his fellow officers to continue the fight against terrorism (in this context, the Russian word to “work” is a slang expression for “fighting the enemy”). Later the terrorists were shot and captured and the video found by the Russian anti-terrorist teams. That is how Magomed’s heroism became public. This excerpt shows what this feat meant for the people of Dagestan, all Russians and Vladimir Putin. Enjoy!

Think about this, Amarkuh. You have Russia on your bully-list; so you’d better have lots of these guys in your “boots”.
I object to you calling the award of “Hero of the Russian Federation” an honourary medal. It is far from that. As I understand, it is the ultimate “Been there, Done that and Suffered for it” medal in the Russian Federation Scheme – equivalent to the “Hero of the Soviet Union”, “Victoria Cross”, “Medal of Honor”.
It is not like so many medals today, awarded for being in uniform on the date of some anniversary, or for time served, but for true honour and heroism. To describe it as an honourary medal diminishes it!
I fear death from such murderers. But this guy showed me how to face it. Through him, I have a chance to behave.
I thank him and present my sympathy to his family and friends.
The Russian federation under the current leadership is truly something worth fighting, and if need be, dying for. Perhaps this is what makes the deaths of people like Mahomed, and the Russians that have died in Syria, seem more heroic than the thousands of others that are constantly dying fighting the US empire and its proxies?
It is good that Mahomed is recognised like this, and a pity that the thousands of others that have lost their lives with similar courage are unrecognised. Perhaps it was because his courage in the last moments were caught on video.
I believe the young Syrian soldier that was killed by running him over with a tank was the same as Mahomed. They also tried to get him to rat on his fellow soldiers on video, but he was defiant until the end.
He was the image of his mother.
She seems to have that Russian ‘fatalism’ that recognizes life-in-death ( spiritual transcendence) and death-in-life ( spiritual awareness ). I hope it helps shoulder the blow of loss.
People like him and mother are archetypes who give all of us hope that some of the better human qualities are truly eternal.

Heroic archetypes like him are what the Bolsheviks tried for at least half a century to eradicate in the Great Bolshevik Genocide of mostly Christian Slavs. It would appear that they failed.
The same people who did that have now infiltrated the ‘West’ and the same processes seems to be starting up. The majority of victims so far are Islamic. But as Americans love to say: “what goes around, comes around.” I wish us luck in the struggles that lie ahead.
