The only human shaped robots I’ve ever seen move as if stuck in molasses and have a cable coming off their back for electricity, since a battery pack would weigh too much. Their only party trick is staying on their feet when shoved or kicked, but I don’t think they’re even built to actually rise from a lying position, much less to traverse any kind of uneven terrain.

There are different kinds of experts.
Those that are more frequently worthy of the title, are usually open-minded to information or challenges from outside their intellectual bubble. They often question and challenge Orthodoxy more deeply, and search outside their field and social circle to harvest insights not found within.
Another is the intellectual prostitute, who knowingly gets paid to make up BS, but knows it.
There is yet another who believes their own BS by virtue of the bubble or echo-chamber effect, a kind of Plato’s cave manifest via group think, like a cult. Two things occur, insiders don’t question the orthodoxy, and they do not except outside information.
At that point being paid is merely verification of their arguments, but rejection of outside information means they don’t know, that they don’t know.
Experts like this are hired by the establishment to maintain acceptable narratives for every field, even and especially for sake of promoting irrational or circular belief systems within the targeted bubble-group; curating an elite-acceptable fundamentalist orthodoxy for the target field.
But ultimately, like any web of lies, the entire edifice comes crashing down, bringing the economy and all institutions down with it.

Larry Johnson does two consecutive pieces on his site, about why does the west hate Russians so much? His articles and the comments are very elucidating.
So why does Russia LOVE a former professional Marine Corps Intelligence officer so much? Or do they really?
That takes some knowledge of Ritter’s relation to Russian social media and the large numbers of interviews on YouTube that he has given.
He is truly professional and expert, as a former stone cold killer for the marines, philosophically, according to their traditions and the Old War ideology that he was raised under. All they had to do was turn him on. But otherwise he is honest and credible, and he learned to love his ostensibly ideologically motivated enemies as he finally knew himself to be.
Russians respect professionalism. God keep them that way, but Ritter is banned from Twitter for his professional opinions.
Even here he has his detractors, but not Larry Johnson, or Martyanov, if I read him right.
But diligence, effort, integrity and honesty aren’t winning Russian birthday greetings for the Blinkens leading the blind, or the Austin’s powers of professional perspicacity and integrity with his desire to ‘kill Russians’. Plain decency and respect earns rewards.
We say populism like that’s a defect in the west, but to some extent Obama was populism gone wrong for some, but it was more professional and correct than what we have now. Putin is tremendously professional, and references professionalism often, calling for it, and praising it. It’s harder in the west because we are losing that credo to censorship.
Professionalism and wisdom are also related, as in the wisdom of the craftsmanship of the art in the tabernacle. Kudos to Martyanov for his like dedication. It’s easy to get mad with all those gifts, even if they’re only mostly military. Evil comes out of the heart but that’s why we are supposed to guard our hearts and nations, and so much comes out of these mouths, expert or not. That’s the ‘profession’ of our faith.

Just have to stop to disagree that Trump is/was not a fascist, having nothing to do with the hollow criticisms of the Nancy Pelosi pseudo left, which defines the Democrats. But, what was Trump when in his first week in office, while eating chocolate cake @ Mara Largo he ordered a special operation in Yemen allegedly to retrieve secret information, which resulted in around 40 dead with around 25 being women and children, and the laptop recovered had only publicly available information on it. Or many other instances of pure violence and criminal murder such as the missiles shot into Syria over alleged WMD’s when it only took a few minutes researching public information to see that was a lie. Do I need to go on ? The Iranian general assassinated while also murdering a general of his host country Iraq along with a dozen or so other non Iranians. He continued US presence in Iraq, Afghanistan, Liby and Syria while in Syria bragging that he was stealing their oil and things. Could go on all day with similar examples, suffice to say he was certainly no boy scout. Realize this : any US president elected post WW2 is/was unquestionably without qualification a fascist, that is the domestic and foreign policy of the government. Only one president, Eisenhower, whined about it a bit, while doing absolutely nothing during his tenure except to aid and abet the status quo.

That’s an important question to evaluate his role in all of that. Likewise, there’s probably no way that he could have foreseen that the recovery operation would produce 40 corpses with over 60% of them being women & children.
As for the missiles shot into Syria… Sorry, nothing of importance there. Trump telegraphed what the targets were and when it was going to happen, and the Russians and Syrians cleared out those airfields so that no lives were lost, and no significant equipment was damaged..
I really credit Andrei’s linguistic skills. For a non-native speaker to observe that these unqualified talking heads about military affairs “don’t know shit from Shinola,” is, I think, a measure of his remarkable language prowess.
This reminds me of a mirror image of the same phenomenon of so-called “experts” in corporations, such as the catastrophic example of Boeing, where engineering is trumped by accountants or marketing on key safety and design elements, the result is history. This is a widespread problem in western industry, where the people with the most knowledge are often not able to draw boundaries around their turf, and have to put up with corporate execs who don’t realize how a few “bean counters” can ruin a project or turn a success into a failure.
The engineers and the technical assembly teams are no longer sacred ground, they get overruled too often by senior people who can’t comprehend the consequences or are blindly chasing money, and often the lower rank assembly workers know exactly what is the problem and how management stuck their thumb in the pie, cutting bone instead of fat, for example.
In the past, this hazard was better understood at least as a general rejection of bullshit creeping in anywhere near their core team. They called it out sooner and anticipated that kind of hazard, and gave the engineers greater say in where the design would be going. And if BS did show up in their area, they were ultimately more willing to walk out the door on principle.
There is a meta-principle at play here, split of the university between humanities and science/engineering. If you have only humanities without input from the science and engineering, all you have left is neuroses, because there is nothing to ground the theory in terms of the relationship between the mind of man and his creative willful changing of the universe around him through science and technology, no way to make economic improvements to the situation.
The reverse is also problematic, if all you have is a technocratic science & technology without the knowledge of the humanities, you end up with something like Hitler and his wonder-weapons, but power erodes without the humanities reflective mirror.
One approach I have heard is that one should be very careful about the filters which they use to block out various subjects. Because these filters have a way of becoming self-forfilling prophecies. Sometimes when you toss something in the garbage it ends up being exactly the thing you needed down the road.
But a comment along these lines would be incomplete without reference to the critical race theory now utterly poisoning engineering shops within our military establishment. The only thing I can think of is someone is trying to take us down so we become easy prey. And quite a few would welcome such a development as it presents the opportunity for change.
But it smells more like a deliberate controlled burn by our establishment itself. We are still trying to sort out how much role is being played by China since the philosophy being pushed is so similar to communism. But it reeks of British divide and conquer. What better wrench to throw into a technical shop then to piss off the engineers with some critical race theory, having to apologize for their whiteness or being subjected to a various obligatory sessions on perverted versions of history.
Sadly, Snyder, the Yale historian who was mentioned in the video, used to write very perceptive books, but at one point it was as if someone had flipped a switch and turned him into a completely different personality. His Trump Derangement Syndrome seems to include Putin Derangement Syndrome.
