NATO drills indicate preparations for large-scale conflict — Russian General Staff

Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasinov said that “military activities are increasing in the Baltic States and Poland, in the Black and Baltic Seas”

Tonight, this years’ military budget bill contains sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 construction, targeting a Swiss company laying the deep water pipe as the race to finish is on. There’s a 30-day window to get far enough to German waters past the Danish sector.

Every accomplishment or project the Russians manifest is attacked, sabotaged, vilified or sanctioned.

The US Congress would sanction against prayer in Orthodox churches if it could.

The topics in the Russian TV program are the issues that challenge Russia’s rise from the ashes and illuminate its global role as stabilizer and trusted mediator, as well as a force to ally with against the Hegemon and terrorists.

Brain drain of any size has been crippling Russian economic and technological strength. When the USSR fell, the US took many technology projects on the drawing and in prototype form back to the US. Space X’s renewable rockets was a USSR project. The F-35 pivoting engine for vertical takeoff was given to Lockheed, a Soviet development. Israel’s huge leap ahead in technology products was primarily due to the huge number of Russian Jews emigrating to Israel over the last three decades. South Korea’s tech sector has many Russian experts who accelerated Korean development of consumer electronics, auto and high tech products.

      Hello Larchmonter445,
Sad but true…just listened to Senator Cruz speaking to Maria Bortiromo. Pushing a bill to be signed by Trump to sanction Allseas, the pipelaying company from Sweden. How’s that for free market? Hearing him denigrate Russia just highlights how deep in bed Cruz is with his Texas oilmen buddies. Curious…how do the Germans feel about Nordsteam 2? I’m sure the Swedes can be none too happy. The empire stumbles blindly along. Regards.

      Larchmonter,

The stuff you wrote about the vertical takeoff for the F-35, the SpaceX engine, etc being ripped off the basic design and prototype work of Soviet scientists and engineers are mostly true. The vertical take off was ripped off the yakalov design bureau from working prototype planes that were tested in the west. The Soviet ‘topaz’ basketball sized nuclear reactor was sent over to Los Alamos along with its supermodel Russian nuclear scientist/developmrnt-engineer (Americans couldn’t get their heads around the fact the feminine female Russian nuclear scientist was a stunning near six footer redheaded beauty who was totally humble about her looks and her Ph.D (she gave credit for the reactor design to her Soviet male mentor nuclear scientist who along with her was also sold the the USA by that idiot Gorbachev or Yeltsin).

However you statement regarding South Korea is just not true: the Soviets were in the dark ages when it came to consumer goods and especially consumer electronics (I still remember the Soviet Apple-][plus clone (with its brown motherboard and patch wires running over the board retailing for $USD20,000 when better clones were produced by Taiwan and China for $600). Most of the technical and indui assistance in consumer electronics and the car industry was provided by Japan (under US pressure) and by the US itself.

In this holiday season, it is quite sad that we cannot culturally, socially or spiritually evolve toward “peace on earth and good will to men”.

Ultimately, the power of a corrupt value system has placed compulsively power-driven factions in charge of our world leadership, which is responsible for the world’s well being. Obviously, there is a better way.

Our corrupt fiat money system is certainly at the root of value system corruption. It’s cyclical rehabilitation os long overdue.

I’m concerned about the relentless US push in the Black Sea region. As well as along most of Russia’s borders. The US has gotten Bulgaria (yes the Judas that Russia liberated from the Ottomans at the cost of thousands of Russian soldiers.Saved the Bulgarians from the massacres that were going on in that time. When they begged for their Slav Orthodox brother to save them.Today they slip a knife in the back of that brother.) to let the US build a naval base at Varna on the Black Sea.They have built a base in enslaved Odessa. Are getting an agreement with Greece to blockade Russian ships there if they order it.And are once again pushing for Georgia to enter NATO.It doesn’t take a military genius to see they are building up for a war in the Black Sea. While the US is putting bases in Romania,Poland, and the Baltic States. And moving large amounts of war equipment for storage in Eastern Europe. The biggest movement towards Russia’s borders all in all since Barbarossa.I think the US is counting on Russia not using nuclear weapons first. And thinks that NATO can overpower Russia in a conventional war, “ala Hitler’s invasion of 1941”.That didn’t work well for him.But times are different today.Russia doesn’t have the depth for defense the USSR had.And the mass numbers of men that the Soviets had. And Putin does not have the absolute control over Russia that Stalin had over the USSR. There are plenty of traitors in Russia’s elite.Stalin had eliminated any pro-Western elements during the dreadful purges. And behind the lines any pro-Germans when found were shot. With the culture war going on in the world (including Russia). I’m not sure we can count on as many of Russia’s youth to emulate the immortal generation of the war years during the Great Patriotic War.You rarely hear about things like the US push in the Black Sea,and the buildup of war supplies in Eastern Europe.I fear that Russia is not as concerned as they should be about these problems. It would do today’s youth well to remember this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QvKchd4gyw

My interpretation of current Russian military strategy –

War will never again be fought on Russian soil.

If the Russian State is threatened, them nuclear weapons will be used.

If there is no Russia, then there will be no world.

As per Clint Eastwood, “Feeling lucky, punk?”

      • Uncle Bob on December 18, 2019  ·  at 10:37 pm EST/EDT

So how does that work when your enemy doesn’t believe you will use those weapons. And destroy the world ,both sides. Deterrence can only work when both sides know they will die.

        • Katherine on December 19, 2019  ·  at 9:27 pm EST/EDT

I think Steven’s point—“how that works”— is crystal clear.

The USA, and the world, will be very very sorry if the USA tries to invade Russia in a land war.
“Nuclear deterrence” will at that point become irrelevant.
“Believing it” is the relevant “deterrence” for the American military and neocons to concentrate their tiny minds on.
That is: Believe it. Or die.

Meanwhile a fellow named Jim Kavanagh speculates that behind the impeachment “farce” run by the Dems is a plan to get Trump out of the way by spring in order to launch an attack on Iran, at the behest of the Zionists, of course.
          https://www.counterpunch.org/2019/12/18/impeachment-what-lies-beneath/

There must be some pop Christmas hit to fit the moment.
          Something like
          The Last Noel:
          “Don’t they know tonight’s the last Noel . . . ”

Sung to the tune of “Don’t They Know It’s Christmas?”

The US has gotten Bulgaria (yes the Judas that Russia liberated from the Ottomans at the cost of thousands of Russian soldiers.Saved the Bulgarians from the massacres that were going on in that time. When they begged for their Slav Orthodox brother to save them.Today they slip a knife in the back of that brother.) to let the US build a naval base at Varna on the Black Sea.

Regrettably what you say is not untrue. But also shows that you don’t know bulgarians very well.

You see, there are two kind of bulgarians. First, you have the so called “elite”, who were very cozy with every empire, which happen to dominate the Balkans (yes, there were many of those during the Ottoman domination, and they did ok at the expsense of everyone else).

Then you have patriots, who love their country and haven’t forgotten their saviours.

It should be noted, that the Russian empire didn’t liberated Bulgaria of the goodness of their hearts – they wanted to create big slavic country under their influence in the Balkans, and the atrocities, commited by the Ottomans during the 1876 uprising was an excellent casus belli. But one shouldn’t forget that there were tens of thousand of bulgarians volunteers, who fought alongside their russian brothers for the liberation of their country (as a direct descendant of one of those volunteers, I would know ;-) )

Today’s Bulgaria is what was Russia during the ’90-s – corru[ted “elite”, clinging into power (if they lose it the best they could hope for is life long sentences), prostituting our culture, nation and resources to the west. Unfortunately, our Vladimir Vladimirovitch is yet to appear (but I do have hopes for our current president).

      • Banditko on December 30, 2019  ·  at 2:43 am EST/EDT

Bulgaria is very hard to understand. It cannot afford being sovereign but neither it would submit to anyone, Russia or the US. Believing that Bulgarians are so much in a great friendship with the West is very naive and calling the country “Judas” is just emotions. Culturally, Bulgaria is not, has never been, and wouldn’t be a western country. This creates a compatibility issue. If NATO or EU sink, Bulgarians will dump them on the instant and there will be no identity crisis associated with that, only economic difficulties, which are pretty much the standard in Bulgaria.

Russia should also focus on revanchist Germany that is backing ukronazis, terrorists and sanctions to “win” the war against Russia. For example France seeks to create an Anti-Merkel coalition. Russia could support this to counter German imperialism that Gorbachev empowered by unleashing the German “Drang nach Osten” again(especially through the annexation of Eastern Germany).

“Relations to France have reached a low. Berlin is unwilling to restrain the export surplus of its economy and, at least, reach political compromises. The results persist: going into debt to pay for imports from Germany – throughout southern Europe. Paris is seeking to forge an alliance with the Mediterranean countries to wage resistance against Berlin – with Italy, Spain, and Greece.
This western front, if successful, is being supplemented by drawing closer to Moscow. Paris is exploring its strongest remedy: a tactical pact between France and Russia, bypassing Berlin, and delivering the German elites’ exorbitant claims two interconnected fronts – west at the Rhine, east at the Bug. If this bypass pact is achieved, it will follow the path of its precursors.”

“This casts Germany – alongside Great Britain, Canada, and the USA – as one of the four countries playing pivotal roles in the elaboration of the permanent stationing of combat-ready troops near the Russian border. This year, Germany is again assuming a commanding role in NATO’s “Spearhead” “Very High Readiness Joint Task Force” (VJTF), in whose development the Bundeswehr had played a leading role.”

    • Lumpenkönig. on December 18, 2019  ·  at 11:41 pm EST/EDT

      *Sigh* A couple of things……

The “German Foreign Policy” website is run by British Intelligence.

It conflates Angela Merkel’s Anglo-American ambitions for Europe with German nationalism. German elites may benefit from investments in the Polish economy, but so do British and American elites. Fort Trump, anyone?

      German Foreign Policy contends:

“Berlin is unwilling to restrain the export surplus of its economy and, at least, reach political compromises.”

Why should it? Berlin is using the EU as a dumping ground for its exported products. As a result, native businesses and industries in countries such as Italy are being put out of business. This serves German industry, but such actions also make it easier for all international corporations to extract wealth out of Italy.

German Foreign Policy argues that Germany and France are locked in some kind of conflict, when the elites actually share common goals.

      German Foreign Policy contends:

“German military circles are debating NATO’s continued eastward expansion and the partitioning of the Ukraine.

Of course. The Anglo-American elites are salivating at the prospect of moving thousands of NATO troops into western (and possibly central) Ukraine.

      And finally……

If the rest of the world bypasses the dollar and SWIFT, of what relevance is NATO?

      • Anonymous on December 19, 2019  ·  at 2:49 pm EST/EDT

        @Lumpenkönig.
Your allegation is false. GFP is not run by British intelligence. GFP is an independent German anti-war blog financed with a paywall and it is critical of Western imperialism in general. Here are some examples:
        http://german-foreign-policy.com/en/fulltext/58849
        http://german-foreign-policy.com/en/fulltext/56052
        http://german-foreign-policy.com/en/fulltext/58973

If the blog was run by an intelligence service there would not be a paywall and every article would be translated. Its publisher Hans-Rüdiger Minow is a writer and director of German films. GFP extensively monitors and analyses documents of Western think tanks. Especially useful is thier analysis of documents by think tanks funded by the German government, because those are being totally ignored by the alternative media. If you want to know which country NATO will destroy next and why and don’t have the time to read thousands of pages written by Western think tanks, you have to use GFP. If you have doubts you can read the documents they refer to yourself.

You are ignoring the fact that the German industry is the main beneficiary of the euro. Germany is effectively exporting its unemployment.

German leaders still have the ambition to conquer Eastern Europe and they openly admit that, but they lack military power. Without US/NATO fire power Germany could have never successfully expanded to the east again, because its own army is too weak to conquer Yugoslavia or Ukraine. So they are dependent on the US military. That is thier main motive for choosing to be the junior partner of the USA and that is why Germany pressed for NATO expansion to the East and the destruction of Yugoslavia. Bush called it “partners in leadership” in 1990.
In contrast to that Germany did not approve the US attacks against Iraq and Libya because German leaders don’t have the ambitions to be colonial masters there. Also they don’t have reliable nazi collaborators like Ustashe, KLA and OUN terrorists there.

“Varwick considers that, at least for the time being, it is conceivable that Berlin and Brussels should “grit their teeth and continue to flexibly attempt to benefit from US capabilities,” because for now, the EU’s military capabilities are insufficient for an independent global hegemonic policy.[6]”
        http://german-foreign-policy.com/en/fulltext/58808

In thier strategy papers German governments openly demand:
        “expansion to the East”
“outwards it is essential to achieve something whereby we have failed twice before”
“Maintenance of free world trade and the unchecked access to markets and raw materials all over the world”
“Without Germany it is impossible to integrate the East European peoples.”

Thanks very much for the link to http://www.german-foreign-policy.com.
I had never heard of this site.

The first graf of a report today (Google translate)
          https://www.german-foreign-policy.com/news/detail/8141/:

“The Bundeswehr and the US armed forces are preparing for large-scale maneuvers against Russia in early 2020

BERLIN / WASHINGTON (Own report) – The US armed forces will use the Federal Republic’s civilian infrastructure extensively in their next major maneuver in Europe in 25 years. The war exercise (“Defender Europe 20”) is trying to move US troops of divisional strength from the United States to Russia. Not only are numerous Bundeswehr sites involved in the war logistics, but also ports (Bremerhaven, Duisburg), airports (Hamburg, Frankfurt am Main) as well as rails and roads. In the run-up to the maneuver, Deutsche Bahn specifically purchased additional heavy-duty wagons. The support services of the Federal Republic thus go far beyond the three “Convoy Support Centers” in Garlstedt, Burg and Oberlausitz, as well as the large petrol station in Bergen, which have been publicly known to date. The routes on which US military personnel are to be relocated to potential theaters of war in the east are now broadly known. US military circles have spoken of a “battlefield network” that “is useful to all NATO allies in the event of a conflict.
          . . . “”

          This is terrifying.
I wonder whether Trump even knows that these maneuvers are planned.
That is, has anyone told him?
Does the civilian German public know of these plans to take over portions of their infrastructure for war games?
Once this materiel is in place it will not be removed again.
Is this “pre-staging” for a war against Iran?
          These “leaders” are EVIL.

The America Empire is increasingly hysterical as it lashes out at other countries with its frenzied use of economic sanctions, political regime change operations, and aggressive promotion of disinformation masquerading as as a Free Press.

At base, America is afraid of people finding out that its Ponzi Scheme economy and Way of Lfe in general are ready to implode in spectacular fashion.

This explains why the America Empire is in full Flight Forward mode, as it is desperately grasping for any straw to maintain its Rules-Based International Dictatorship/Order, which is crumbling beneath its feet.
